How to unlock the Speed Demon achievement in Forza Motorsport 4 - Definitive Guide

This one is a bit tricky. The only way I was able to achieve that kind of speed was using the Bugatti Veyron and using the Le Mans circuit. Please note that you need to use the alternate version (Mulsanne) without chicanes on the long straight. The usual Le Mans layout does not provide straights that are long enough.

Edit: Thanks to J1MMEH G for pointing out that this can (and should!) be done in free mode :)

Thumbs up for beating me to the punch on this one. Perfect spot for this achievement, and you will also get the perfect speed achievement here as well if you haven't got it already.

Another easy way is using the SCC Ultimate Aero on the Benchmark Speedway. I hit 258 mph going around a few laps. Got 240 on the first lap.

The clock will be set to either miles or km depending on your region for those in metric regions either change to mph so you can see how close to the speed you are or hit 390kmph (386.242 km to be exact)

A stock 1993 McLaren F1 as the reward from driver level 31 also worked on the Le Mans Old Mulsanne track for me, barely. In Free Mode as well.

This one can be a little frustrating. The road is kinda narrow, and you have to be pretty carefull, it's easy to scratch the sides at those high speeds. It's just long enough to reach 384 km/h at the very end before hitting the wall on the curve ending the long straight, so if you use breaking assist it may cut you ooff when you are just about too reach the target speed.

Super easy to get without having to buy, upgrade or tune anything. You should also unlock the following achievement in the progress:

Forza Motorsport 4Flat OutThe Flat Out achievement in Forza Motorsport 4 worth 6 pointsEarn a perfect Speed score.

What you need to do is from the main menu go into:
Free Play > Hot Lap > Bugatti > Veyron 16.4 > Le Mans > Old Mulsanne Circuit

The plan is to reach 240MPH (~390KMH) on the extremely long straight. Just drive like you normally would for the first section and when you get on the straight floor it.

It'll take a while to get up to the intended speed but you will eventually reach it, most likely on your first attempt.

If you, against all odds, haven't reached the speed required when at the end of the straight you can always turn around and drive down the straight again!

If you have an issue and don't make it on the straight, just turn around and do it the other way. much easier :)

Watch the video!!!
Info prior to watching: In order to get his achievement you first need to enter freeplay mode, choose the Bugatti Veyron for your car and the Le Mans circuit as your map. Then get ahead earlier in the race and maintain your lead onto the straightaway. You should be able to gain enough speed to get the achievement on the straightaway.

Tips if you are having trouble:
Go to tuning, inflate your tires to 100%, change your gear ratio to the preset speed option
Use the rewind button if you run into a wall or if you do not have enough speed going into the straightaway

Speed Demon

Track: Nurburgring Nordschleife (Full Circuit)
Vehicle: 2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

Simply go into free play (quick race) selecting the above vehicle and track. When the race starts, drive the wrong way to when the straight begins, turn around, and floor it back the entire straight.

Everyone else is recommending the Veyron, but if that's too pricey for you, or (like me) you just don't particularly like the car, here's what I did.

1) Level 31's best car by a mile is the McLaren F1 (3,000,000 credits if you want to just buy it instead of get it for free at that stage). And I'm a McLaren fan anyway, so that was an easy choice.

2) It just so happened that not long after getting it Career mode wanted me to own an R3 car. By now, between races I'd been running with the F1 and before that the MP4/12C, I got free upgrades anyway. So an auto-upgrade to R3 was the obvious answer.

3) Part of that auto-upgrade is a racing gearbox. So stretching out the ratios to make final gear hit 260 was a piece of cake, down the Mulsanne straight on the old (non-chicane) version of the Le Mans track.

Go into an online match, pick the SSC Ultimate Aero and for a track, pick the Old Le Mans track - not the Le Sarth one, as there are kinks in the straight that will not allow you to get up to speed. Doing it in this car is relatively easy, since it puts the Veyron to shame. If you have all of the add-ons, you can also use the Veyron Super Sport... use anything you want, it really doesn't matter to me.
