How to unlock the Silver and Gold achievement in Forza Motorsport 5 - Definitive Guide

Update: The April game update makes all of the initial 200 cars that launched with Forza 5 available as rental cars so it's no longer necessary to use the "rental glitch" if you don't own the car that is required for this achievement.

Race #1

Go to Free Play
Car: 2013 McLaren P1 (R Class)
Track: Silverstone - Grand Prix Circuit
Rounds: 1
Drivatar difficulty easy.

If you don't own the 2013 McLaren P1 you can rent it under "Rent Car". Make sure to use the regular edition not the limited edition version.

Race #2

Go to Free Play
Car: 2010 Aston Martin One-77 (A Class)
Track: Silverstone - Grand Prix Circuit
Rounds: 1
Drivatar difficulty easy.

If you don't own the car select "Rent Car" and choose any car (the Aston Martin isn't available there). Then select "Buy Car" and choose the Aston Martin. Before selecting a design press "B" until you're back at the main menu of Free Play. The Aston Martin will be your car now.
Start the race and get the gold medal to unlock the achievement.

I cannot get this solution to work. Every time I try to do this it keeps putting me back in my own car.

Correction/update on instructions: to get the car swap to work I needed (i) go in and select a "rental" car, then (ii) go into the "buy car" menu and followed the instructions above.

Great guide ... however the McLaren P1 is one of the cars available for rent, so you don't need to do the buy/back out trick for that part of the achievement.

This glitch still works. You failed to mention tho', when setting up the race, one needs to select the appropriate car class in "game options" for it to work. R class for the P1 and A class for the One-77. Needs update!

@HAMbidextrous1 The default option for free play is any race class, isn't it? I'll add it though.

Very important that when you are choosing the Free Play Options that you 'manually' select the class. ie Car Class A and Car Class R respectively.

I can't get this chevo to pop. I've used the P1, so I'm 50% there but I can't get the Aston to register. I've tried what's been said, free play, Class A and I've won the race a few times but nothing. Any ideas??

Confirmed that works perfect with the lastest past, rent car, win and get an easy achievement.

Worked a treat. I also turned Collison Mode to Always Off. That way I didn't have to care about hitting the other cars and I got "Perfect Pass" everytime I drove through them +1

For me the catch was to select the Grand Prix track. Tried with the National Circuit and it didn't work, then searched for the tips here and that was the difference.

Picking car class didn't matter at all. Mine was always "Any".
