How to unlock the Perfectionist achievement in Forza Motorsport 6: Apex - Definitive Guide
This is one of the hardest achievements in any racing game in my opinion.
Each track needs a certain threshold of points to obtain platinum.
You must meet all bonus objectives as well as meet the point threshold.
Please feel free to help contribute to the solution if you know the easiest combination of assists, cars, or difficulty. With that said, I will post and update this as I progress what has worked for me, as well as update with other people's info. Please use the following format and I will include it in the solution.
Pony Car (Track 1) - 1,125,000 required/1,142,647 obtained
Car- 1971 Mustang Mach 1
Difficulty - Pro 55%
Suggested Line - Braking only
Braking - Off
Steering - Simulation
Traction and Stability - Off
Shifting - Manual w/ clutch
Damage, Fuel, Tire wear - Simulation
Rewind - Off
Comments: Needed 68% assists to get platinum for me. Change your controller to put the clutch on the A button, manual shifting is easy once you get the hang of it. I failed twice at 66% assists to make enough points. See Erod's video below.
Super Street Heroes (Track 2) - 1,300,000 required/1,346,712 obtained
Car- 2010 Nissan 370Z
Difficulty - Pro 55%
Suggested Line - Braking only
Braking - Off
Steering - Simulation
Traction and Stability - TCS Only
Shifting - Manual w/ clutch
Damage, Fuel, Tire wear - Simulation
Rewind - On
Comments: The Lancer GSR in 1st is a bitch in this one, and can take over first place and have a huge lead. I countered it by making sure I had been in the top 3 by the first 2 turns. I finally caught him at the end of the 4th lap when I smashed him into the wall, it was very satisfying. lol. Use replay to make perfect turns and help you catch this guy.
Executive Performance (Track 3) - 1,300,000 required/1,345,171 obtained
Car- GTR Black Edition (Free reward from Forza Hub)
Difficulty - Pro 55%
Suggested Line - Off
Braking - ABS on
Steering - Simulation
Traction and Stability - Off
Shifting - Manual
Damage, Fuel, Tire wear - Simulation
Rewind - On
Comments: You only need to get third place to meet all requirements. Abuse Rewind.
Raptor Strike (Track 4) - 975,000 required/1,146,978 obtained
Car- 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
Difficulty - N/A
Suggested Line - Off
Braking - Off
Steering - Simulation
Traction and Stability - TCS Only
Shifting - Manual w/ clutch
Damage, Fuel, Tire wear - Simulation
Rewind - Off
Comments: Its tough to get all the pins and finish in time, but with the right route, its very easy, also a very short race so mistakes aren't such a big deal. I got quite a bit over, you could probably turn on an extra assist here, however, I didnt seem to have any issues with the setup that I had. See Erod's video below.
Italian Greats (Track 5) - 1,325,000 required/1,372,764 obtained
Car - 2013 Ferrari 458 Speciale
Difficulty - Pro
Suggested Line - Off
Braking - Off
Steering - Simulation
Traction and Stability - TCS Only
Shifting - Manual w/ clutch
Damage, Fuel, Tire wear - Simulation
Rewind - On
Comments: The Ferrari has great acceleration and great cornering. Make sure you are getting a near flawless run by using rewind if you mess up on a corner or what not. I didn't end up catching up to #1 until about the time lap 1 was over. For reference, my first lap was 2:42 and my 2nd was 2:36.

I just got Platinum on last tour event, I have no idea how many points are required for platinum, how can I check it?
Return to Rio (Track 12) - ???? required/1,334,005 obtained
Car - 2017 Ford GT
Difficulty - Pro

Braking - Off

Traction and Stability - Off

It was rather easy. I've finished 2nd (you don't have to be first), real close to the winner. Ford GT is fast so it's easy to get your laps under 2:40 (bonus objective).
Also because of roadside railings you can't leave track on turns (if you go too fast), so you can sacrifice TCS/STC for Rewind.
Just make sure you get your 5 good passes . I forgot about it on my first try, and was 2nd after 1st lap with just 1 good pass.

I managed to get the first 3 done with these settings:
Difficulty - Pro
Suggested line - Braking Only
Breaking - ABS Off
Steering - Sim
Traction and Stability - Off
Shifting - Automatic
Damage - Sim
Rewind - Off
Cars:
Race 1 - Mustang Mach 1 (or whatever it's called that had the max PI)
Race 2 - Nissan 370Z
Race 3 - 2013 Audi R8
TCS seemed to help the cars accelerate much quicker than if it was on, meaning I could get faster exits out of corners and catch the AI even if they were faster. Also slamming it up through corners helps if your close to an opponent. In the 2nd event especially, once you start head all the way over to the right hand side and you can pass half the field using the pit lane exit.
The Spa race with traffic was annoying though. I turned TCS back on so my car wouldn't spin out every time I accelerate and I believe I also set the difficulty to Expert instead. Still managed a platinum that way. Even then I got lucky when the AI got caught in traffic. I will post more tips as I get my last 3 medals. I did do one in the DLC though.

I strongly recommend that you finish every other achievement before attempt this method, since we are going to reset the game app to initial configurations several times.
If you have a few platinum medals to do and don't wanna wait for easy spotligths events or even are having a hard time getting most of then we are going to erease our saves files and play until we reach the event called Raptor Strike (so make sure you dominate this particular event, it's the easyest one), get a platinum medal then repeat this process. The progress do increase despite the save being deleted.
Here is what to do:
1 - Go to Windows Settings -> System -> Apps & Features
2 - Find Forza Apex and click on it, then click Advanced Options and then Reset.
3 - Open the game. When the game start interupt the synchronisation by clicking Cancel and starting a fresh game.
4 - Play until you reach Raptor Strike, get your platinum.
5 - Check your progress.
6 - Repeat
As QuickMythril has pointed out in the comments you can copy and move your save data to another folder just before the Raptor track, return it up to the original one, and then stop the syncing from the cloud. This should save a lot of time.

I posted this solution a few weeks ago, so I assume that this method is still working.

Does this still work?
Would love to 100% this game, but I am not great a racing games, and was about to move on from this one.

It's worth adding that Platinum medal from Spotlight challenges also count so if you just can't sqeeze any more performance from carrer evnts just wait and try Spotlight series. They rotate every week, usually on Tuesday.
Try to mix racing aids with highest or 2nd highest difficulty. My usuall setup was Unbeatable + autoshift and abs on or manual shift+pro diff with abs on. Rarely had to put ABS off.
Obviously events will be easier to beat after finishing career, some spotlight events and using medals to unlock best cars.
2 career events out of my reach: Ariel Atom one and 'Speed without limits' in Rio. Geting all bonus objectives in one race was too hard.

If you didn't get Platinum on Raptor Strike initially, just finish up everything else in the game and when you're done, copy this folder
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.ApexPG_8wekyb3d8bbwe
into another directory.
After doing this, go to the Raptor Strike event. Before the race starts head to Assists and change them to the following:
Suggested Line - Off
Braking - Off
Steering - Simulation
Traction and Stability - Off
Shifting - Automatic
Damage, Fuel, Tire wear - Simulation
Rewind - Off
(Should put you on 62% gains)
I'm no expert but if you take it slow and hit as many pins as you can while being careful not to lock up your brakes or spin out, you should be able to smash a lap out in approx 1:25 and easily score over 450K points. Drivatar difficulty doesn't matter unless you want RP gains (not sure if they're affected on this particular event though - my Drivatar difficulty was set to Inexperienced). You should easily get Platinum in this event.
Now back out to the main menu and exit the game. Go to the directory where you copied the above folder and paste it back into it's original directory (replacing your save data). This will put you back to just before you gained a Platinum on Raptor Strike.
Rinse and repeat this process 10 times if you're a noob like me and you can get this Achievement with little to no effort. :)
Bit late to the game but I found this method to be effective and quick.

You can either do this once you get to the Raptor Strike event or after you've finished the game - as long as you don't get a Plat on Raptor Strike initially.
I finished everything else then went back to Raptor Strike and used advice given in the guides above to get Platinum.
Before getting the plat I copied the save file directory (C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.ApexPG_8wekyb3d8bbwe) into a new folder elsewhere on my computer so it had my data from before I got platinum on Raptor Strike.
I then booted the game up, got Platinum, the game saved over original directory, then I exited the game and pasted the copied save directory back into it's original directory and it reset my plat so I could do it again.
Rinse / repeat.
I posted this guide because I feel like a few of the other guides made it sound a bit like there was quite a lot of messing around. I thought my guide was simple enough to follow really, lol. Hopefully this comment helps?
(This does bypass the whole "reset" and "save file synchronisation cancelling" thing.)

Can you explain where "directory" is? Is this essentially bypassing the step to get to Raptor Strike Event when performing a reset as stated in "Caure"'s solution?
By Mattyl22l on 19 Aug 2018 16:15
Just to complement igor5618 solution there are 3 events in the spotlight rotation that are really easy and every time they show up in the spotlight rotation if you get platinum it will count.
Example:
Jun - 12 - 2017 -> RWDs at Rio. +1 Platinum.
(If you do it again within the 2 week time frame you will not get more platinums).
...
(Rotation of the events lasts 2-3 months).
Aug - 21 - 2017 -> RWDs at Rio. You get another +1 platinum for doing the same event again.
You can do this with all of the spotlight events, however these are the easiest ones in my opinion:
RWDs at Rio.
AWD Autocross.
Event image: http://imgur.com/m4EeGAS
These are the assists for AWD and RWDs events: http://imgur.com/EhuWJjQ
Both are quite simple you just have to finish them completing all objectives under ~3:25 and you will get platinum.
The other one is a little bit harder but still easier than tour events.
Festival americana.
Just finish all objectives as fast as you can, with the best difficulty and aids you can get, i personally do it with pro 55% or 70% unbeatable, ABS ON, TCS Only and Manual without shift.

Found this out by accident but hopefully it may help some others out there.
I had 7 platinum medals and around 48 million and was close to getting the full 1000 gamerscore. Fired up Forza 6 Apex only to be greeted with the unknown error occurred message (basically my save was screwed). Regretfully I trashed my save thinking I would have to start from scratch but no....
I did the first 2 races of the championship and the Top Rated Driver achievement popped. I then proceeded to do one of the drift races (which I'd got platinum earlier in the day), got a platinum in the same event and both of them were added to my previous tally. I now only need 1 more platinum to pop the achievement even after trashing my local and cloud based save.

This is not an easy achievement since you need to be good with minimal assists and decent AI level.
First and foremost you must hit every objective, and you want to play on the toughest difficulty you can. I everything getting the 40% bonus on AI difficulty. I typically play braking line, manual with clutch. Change the controller layout to switch the clutch from left bumper to ‘A,’ as long as you can drive manual you can drive manual with clutch this way. Hit both A and either B or X at the same time to shift up and down. You have to hit one more button for each shift but you don’t need more coordination since you can do it with the same finger at the same time.
I also have ABS off but I don’t think that is necessary, and usually all TCS off and STM off (unless it is R2 or higher class and I will turn on TCS).
If you can race at a harder difficulty, you can get away with more assists.
The events I completed for platinum are 1-9 and #12.
#12 was the hardest for me due to the driving line restrictions. But after a warm-up I was able to get the braking lines down decent enough to win the race and get the platinum.

To any people like me who are either going back to or starting the game for the first time all these years after release, the only events available are the base 12. The top guide does a great job of covering the first 5 events and some of the rest are unfortunately outdated since Spotlight events are no longer supported. Therefore, I figured I would compile this in progress guide to provide similar guidelines for most or all of the remaining 7 events.

Comments: Currently experimenting with different strategies for these. These 2 are challenging since all have a bonus objective for winning, but the available cars are of lower performance class than cars available in the base game but locked behind higher medal counts. Note: Despite some confusion, platinum medals do not add to any count, so the max available without Spotlight events is 39 (12 events + intro race). The next solution will likely be Pro difficulty/rewind on for an event where the available cars best match the top of the field.
