I went to an online private lobby to work on the drive a mid-engined Porsche in multiplayer or free play 10 times.

I set the track to VIR and race to finish after 30s and had no opposition and after the race ended when the 30s had elapsed the achievement unlocked as I had "finished the lap in 30s" which is under the 1:30 for the achievement

I didn't get it to work. The 30 second races still register for the other achievements, but looks like they have finally patched this.

The Lotus E23 F1 car is a reasonable choice. Before using it, I tried with the McLaren MP4/4 from the eBay Motors Car Pack and with the Mazda 787B. For me, the E23 was clearly faster.

The stock E23 is balanced enough, but you could download a more stable tune if you are having trouble (or one with higher maximum speed for the penultimate straight of the track).

Keep in mind that -generally speaking- the less assists, the faster your potential lap can be. Manual transmission with clutch is a difference maker. Keep TCS on if you feel unconfortable with cars this fast.

1:30 is a relatively hard objective for this new track (VIR Full, included in the Porsche Expansion). If you race in a private lobby, each lap you make pursuing "Forest Fire" will also count towards "Racing Through The Woods" achievement (40 multiplayer laps in VIR).

I should highlight that, even when I did a 1:30.125 "dirty" lap, the achievement unlocked.

To confirm, the timing does seem a little off - I unlocked it with a dirty 1:30.307.

TCS is a major help with the E23, keeps from roasting the rear tires exiting every corner. Did a 1:28.xxx dirty on my second lap of a Free Play race. While the achievement didn't "pop" (an issue I've been having), it did unlock.

I did a lap under 1:30 dirty (but with rewinding) and it did not count.

edit 1:
For me (in Rivals) a dirty time doesn't pop the achievement. I had a 1:28:7xx time dirty without rewinding and it did not pop. it also does not show in the menu, it still says 1:30:662 which I did clean.

edit 2:
Ok, I just realized (after going under 1:30 in a clean lap) that it only pops after you finish the session. I did finish the session after the rewind and it did not pop, but after my dirty 1:28:7xx I did not end the session, so I guess I did not have to try for a clean lap after all.

This is a note for all the people which has their Xbox one on the Dutch language. The description in-game for the track is wrong. It shows VIR-North instead of VIR-Full

Dit is een notatie voor alle mensen die hun Xbox one op Nederlands hebben gezet. De benaming in-game voor VIR-full is foutief. Er staat namelijk VIR-Noord. Er zijn 2 VIR-Noord'. De eerste is de volledige. Kies die dus!

You can complete this Achievement in Free Play, Rivals or Multiplayer; I would recommend Rivals as you can select a Ghost to follow.

You can complete this by either using a P-Class or X-Class car. I would recommend either the Lotus E23 or McLaren MP4/4. If you drive the Lotus and use Traction Control you should be able to get this easily.

According to Reddit, there are some additional notes that can make this Achievement easier for you if you are struggling to hit the target time:

• Your lap does not need to be "clean", uncertified laps will also count.
• You can use Mod Cards in Free Play to give your car extra grip or power.
• If you are struggling to earn this Achievement "legitimately", you can use the Multiplayer end timer to trick the game into giving you the desired laptime. IEvil IMonkey has provided such a solution which appears to be quite effective.

This may seem a little daunting at first but there are two ways to beat this. The first is to grab a fast car like the E23 and practice until you beat 1:30 or go into a private multiplayer lobby and in the game options select 'timed race' and set the race to end after 30 secs. After the time has expired the achievement will unlock. (Thanks to IEvil IMonkey for originally posting this)
