How to unlock the Gaining Experience achievement in Forza Motorsport 7 - Definitive Guide
Seems Freeplay has been patched. I have discovered that this achievement and "Devoted Racer" (300 laps in Multiplayer) can be done in Split-screen with a second controller.
- I suggest you use a FE car to get as many race awards at the end of the race. I used the 2000 Nissan Silvia Spec-R FE (with 25% CR + 25% with 3 Good Drifts). With this car you can go full throttle on Homestead with all assists turned off. Other cars may work better, but I don't have VIP and the Silvia is a reward for completing a category in the single player campaign.
- In Split-screen, pick 50 laps on Homestead. Unfortunately you cannot choose Night or Rain in Split-screen, so these and other multiplayer achievements cannot be done using this method.
- Your primary controller is what you will be using with your profile and the car you've chosen to use.
- Your secondary controller is another profile or guest (with a car in the matching car division). After you've configured the race with your primary controller, you can add the second controller by pressing the appropriate button shown at the bottom of the screen.
- Do NOT set driver difficulty to SUPEREASY on either controller/profile, or you will not get the credit awards and may not get the laps counting toward the achievement(s).
- Turn all assists OFF for your primary controller and car (but leave Rewind on in case, and perhaps leave damage as Cosmetic). [Assists on the secondary controller are mostly irrelevant, but don't put it on Supereasy.]
- Just before the race begins, put an elastic band on the second controller to hold the gas full on, and let it do it's thing (bashing into the side walls) throughout the race. You will ignore this controller/car until the race is over. You will pass this car multiple times with your primary controller and car.
- Also put an elastic band on your primary controller (with your profile and chosen car) to hold the gas full on. Now you only need to steer the car around the track. Around the 40th lap slip the elastic band off the right trigger and try to get in 3 good drifts. It won't display on screen, as Mods are not allowed in Split-screen, but the game still tracks skills internally if you accomplish them. I usually go for a drift going into the second big turn. If I blow it or don't think it was good enough I may rewind and try again. I get about 5 or 6 drifts in by the end of the race, hoping 3 of them are good enough (thus getting a full 50% CR bonus, rather then just 25%).
- Each lap in the Nissan Silvia FE takes about 40 sec, so 50 laps will take about 35 minutes.
- When the race is over, you will get about 61,500 total credits using the Nissan Silvia FE and 50 more laps toward the "Gaining Experience" and "Devoted Racer" achievements. Your level should also increase (perhaps more than once) with associated rewards to pick from.
- Rinse and repeat as many times as necessary. There are better ways to farm for Credits, but you may as well get all you can get while you're going for these achievements using this method.

My trick was to enter drag race. Same procedure with using elastic to press RT permanently. Connect the controller via an USB cable to the Xbox console. Went to bed and had the 100 and 300 laps added to my account and 300k credits in my account.

SeventhLeader8 gets my vote here, watching the achievement tracker just to check. Choose FE car, maybe the Ram Runner or Dodge Charger Daytona HEMI as the test track airfield seems common. Not a lot of credits but may as well do it. Obviously VIP helps with that too.
All that stated, the ones for 50 in the rain and 50 at night mean this one doesn't need to be done specifically.
