How to unlock the Survival of the Fastest achievement in Forza Motorsport 7 - Definitive Guide

Firstly, you need to unlock the showcase by completing the Seeker Championship and unlocking the Breakout Championship.

You will find the showcase on the bottom line inside the Breakout Championship.

After clicking to the race, you need to change the race length. Do this by pressing cn_RB and selecting assists. Go to the bottom and change the race length to Extra Long.

Change any other assists you see necessary, and also look at the Drivatar Difficulty.

You can change the skill level for Drivatars and receive additional credits: (This only affects the other racers skill and not your assist difficulty).
New Racer/Inexperience/Average +0%CR
Above Average +20%CR
Highly Skilled +40%CR
Expert +60%CR
Pro +80%CR
Unbeatable +100%CR.

Now you're ready to race! This is 69 laps and will take between 2¾ to 3 hours.

N.B. MODS are unavailable to use in this race.

If leaving a negative vote, please comment why so I can look into adapting the solution.

what does N. B. MODS mean? This would be the perfect race to use mods to get 200% CR bonus...

Do you get more rewards for doing extra long?

By CONAAH25 on 11 Oct 2017 04:13
NB Mods are the ones you add on a normal race for say doing perfect turns which result in extra CR or XP. Unfortunately Showcases don't allow. Yes if you do the Long or Extra Long you will get extra XP and CR as long as you don't do it on a higher difficulty.

I did everything BigWiIIieStyIe said.

Changed everything to super easy. Drivatars to New Rider then just taped the trigger down.

Watched a film and just kept checking on it.

The first few laps it got caught on that corner, but once i was at the front it could just be left alone.

Thanks toast

Quick Tip you can change assists to Super Easy, the car will basically drive itself around the track. Note however you will need to pay attention to the last turn so about 2:14 ish as it will not always make the second part of it. Otherwise make sure you have rewind on and just keep pushing the gas peddle. Had it on Above average and without steering pushed through the entire pack by the end of the 4th lap.

Update - So my game crashed after 20 laps so tried again this morning. Seems to be hit and miss. This time I got spun out by the AI so got further in the pack. Also noticed this time breaking wasn't as good so went off the track a few times.

I did it legit on +80% credit in 2:52. I always drive with all assists off but it seemed like my tyres wore down before my competition did. To make sure i didnt lose i turned damage to cosmetic only.

I tried today again with Easy Mode turned on so let it drive itself as I mentioned in my other post. After I got in the lead it took a few laps go get the tires warmed up but then it had no problem on any turns. It also passed everyone on it's own for the most part with little spinout. I was able to lap everyone twice. Once completed the achievement didn't pop right away. I went back into the Championship and back out and even checked the status. It did eventually pop when I happened to click on the crates section.

Edit: Turns out I forgot to click A when changing the difficulty, must have backed out with B. Otherwise everthing else works as mentioned. Also the only thing that gives extra credits is difficutly now, they removed the bonus from assists to open the game to more players.

Perfect solution.

For the benefit of our younger readers, N.B. Mods are not a type of Mod. N.B. is something we used before txt speak was invented, it means "Nota Bene", or note well.

Can anyone confirm the "complete" portion of this? I keep getting distracted and my A.I. driver gets stuck. I'm on lap 10 of 69 so I'm sure he'll catch up, but since it says "complete" I'm assuming I can come in any place and it will unlock (don't need to be 1st place).

If you're doing this with fuel and tyre wear on, it's worth noting that you can do 23 laps per stint, so you only need to make 2 pit stops - one at the end of lap 23 and the other at the end of lap 46. If you do that you will find it pretty straightforward as the drivatars appear to have no clue whatsoever about pit strategy and pit at the strangest times. As someone else mentions in the comments, it seems that some of the drivatars can make their tyres (or rather, their fuel) last longer than you, but don't worry, they will still make more stops than you if you stick to the 2 stop strategy. When I did this, the car in 2nd place actually pitted on the penultimate lap, which meant I won by a fairly large margin. Took a shade under 2 hours and 50 minutes all together...

I can confirm that you only need to finish the race to get the achievement. I was rubber banding it and got stuck several times, so ended up finishing in 24th place an hour behind 23rd and still got it.

Took me 2h 52mins, 624,000 credits, went up like 10 lvls so 20,000 credits per level and the cars. I suggest going up one or two difficulties as I play on expert and crushed the AI.

Its BS that we can't use mods for this particular race, especially since they make us use a lack luster car. Less then 500hp and one of the weaker cars in the field makes for a boring race. Glad it is over.

Be careful when letting AI race for you, I did overtake all of them and let AI do it's thing, but when it started to overtake opponents again it ended up in the wall and wasn't able to get out of it. Fortunately I realised that before it was too late and was able to recover. I ran on Average drivatar difficulty so it might be worth to run a bit higher so you don't overtake them twice.

I completed this last night. Was lapping pretty consistently between 2:28 and 2:31 with a couple of bad laps towards the end (mix of excitement of nearly being done and tired) and finished in 2h 54mins. Remove fuel and tyre simulation damage - This does not increase your credit value. I completed it on Above-Average difficulty was was able to lap everyone twice so you could push higher. Rewards were 240,000 credits and a whole bunch of xp. There was no option for the IA to race on your behalf.

Controller Layout 12.
Everything put to easiest setting.
Now all you do is put a rubberband to your right stick for full throttle/power.

THIS is how you make the AI race for ya. 😁

I set the drivatar difficulty to New Racer and set the assists for Super Easy. My "drivatar" completed the race right at 3 hours. I only had to rescue him with rewind one time, so make sure you're paying attention as it races. Also note by doing this you don't get any credits or XP, but in my opinion a fair trade-off for not having to sit through a 3 hour race.

Did they nerf out the rewards? I've done two other endurance races so far using this method (at Nurburgring under the Seeker Championship and Sebring under the Evolution Championship), yet got no credits nor xp after each one, only the car shock I'm really not looking forward to doing this race, only to receive nothing at the end (except a car).

You gain access to the Spa-Francorchamps 100 showcase with the Breakout Championship, which first requires you complete the Seeker Championship. A car is provided for you, so you can do this at any time.

You'll need to adjust the race length to "Extra Long" in the Assists menu after you've selected the showcase. This changes the race length from the "Standard" 23 laps to 69 laps. The race takes roughly three hours to complete. You don't have to win the race, just complete all 69 laps, so you can adjust the difficulty of the Drivatars if you want to get more credits.

The easiest method, however, is to set the assist configuration to "Super Easy". Doing so means you just have to hold RT down and the game does the rest of the work for you. If you have the means of keeping the trigger held down (or whatever button you use to accelerate), you can just set the controller down and do something else for a couple of hours. You may also want to turn vibration off and plug your controller into the console so it doesn't time out and disconnect.

You may not have to do this, but what I did was set the assists at my normal level for the first lap or two until I got into first place (with lowest difficulty Drivatars), and then switched to Super Easy. I found that letting the AI drive while huddled together with a bunch of cars meant I kept ramming into them and not passing them. Then I taped down RT and did some other stuff. By lap 16 I was already lapping the other drivers, and by the time I finished the race I was something like 75,000 feet ahead of second place.

A few things that made my 69-lap experience a little better (9 Jan 2021, Xbox Series X, United States):
1. Two rubber bands (I assigned one of the big paddles on my Elite 2 controller to RT/throttle).
2. Driver skill level: Inexperienced Driver (+0%)
3. I got out in front and then let the "Super Easy" auto pilot do a lot of work.
4. Every couple of laps, after that last hard switch-back turn that confuses the AI, I would hold the brakes. I did this to let the 2nd place car get close, but not too close.
5. The reason I did the braking thing was to (a) have a 'manual jiggle' to avoid my controller falling asleep (b) avoid the AI doing really poorly at passing.
6. By doing #4, I only had to intervene to pass the one 'super slow' 24th place car around lap 38-39.

Then I kept doing the #4 braking thing every 2 laps all the way to the end. Never had to pass any other cars, just kept 2-23 close and only lapped 24 the one time as described above. I was able to do chores around the house and just check in every 5-6 minutes. Took about 3 hours and 4 minutes.

I'd like to congratulate the inventor of rubber bands for making this achievement more tolerable. Even so, I still had to keep coming back to babysit it. If you put the rubber band to use full throttle, you end up lapping the AI before very long, and then what happens is your car pushes an AI car off at a corner, and ends up taking you off too. Then you're stuck facing a wall and needing manual intervention to get back on track.

I thought okay, I'll set the band to just use less throttle, and do slower laps, but at least my car won't push any AI cars off, and I won't have to babysit it. Wrong. What happens is the AI behind you drives at a snail's pace as well. It doesn't overtake even if there's a huge straight road ahead. The AI then eventually sits touching your rear bumper, and at the next corner, it just does a pit manouevure on you, and deliberately pushes you off. Not just a tap mind; it actively drives off the track to make sure you go into the wall.

Words cannot express how abysmal and brain dead the AI is in this game. I've played ZX Spectrum 48k games which had better AI than this game.

I had that problem, but not on every lap. It was very strange. Sometimes it would turn without issue, sometimes it would hit the wall and backup. I didn’t watch it for the whole three hours so I can’t say how often it occurred, but it definitely wasn’t every time.

If you put your controller on a desk and put something in front of the trigger you don't even have to push yourself. Just make sure you don't push the trigger down all the way, if the car goes to fast the AI sometimes messes up. If you go slow enough it will catch hard corners as well.

Who have problems with last sharp turn, do the following:

Go to options then choose controls and press X (advanced controls). Now do all from steering, acceleration and brakes to the max. (clutch and handbrakes do nothing)

Absolute money solution. Advice: plug your controller into the Xbox One to keep it from going to sleep. Also use masking tape to tape the trigger about half way down. I watched an episode of Stranger Things, did the dishes and picked up my parents from the airport and came home just in time for the finish. Achievement popped immediately after leaving the final results screen.

Best comment from Lava303
as i set this up in advanced option and just rubber RT and left over, after 20 laps it's running 1st place without any issue. Using Super Easy with lowest driviator difficulty.

My lap time is around 2:35 and as a result it should take around 3hrs to finish. Best solution without monitoring per few laps.

The one-hour version was enough for me as the car is crap (not my driving, no, no way, I'm like Lewis Hamilton, honest) so Super Easy, rubber bands on (full acceleration), telly and vibrations off, went to sleep, woke up, turned on the telly, saw a completed race, pressed A, got the achievement. Did nothing to "correct" what the Xbox did. Thanks!

Apart from the tendency for the car to get stuck trying to run through a wall at the start of the final straightaway per lap if you don't watch it (and as others have noted), there is one other notable thing on which to comment.

If you set the steering to Super Easy, you will not get any cash or level rewards for this race (similar to the old "Hire a Driver" method from earlier Forza Motorsport games). However, this is definitely a worthy tradeoff just to get through this without having to manually work through a race for which you have to schedule lunch and pee breaks!

I don't know what idiot decided that tying 3+ hour "endurance" races to achievements was desirable, but he was not doing the game any favors. This is exactly why the Forza games have such a well deserved reputation for being such a grind.

I just now finished and it took me 2 hours and 57 minutes. I used Super Easy and New Driver on my drivitar and then used the rubber band method. I crashed into the wall on the first lap so I rewound and got around the corner manually.
My car made it through the next 5 laps with no problems and took over first place. By the 13th. lap my car was starting to lap all of the other cars. Everything went fine until I tried to pass a car around that last corner.
Altogether my car crashed 4 times and I had to rewind to get around the corner. Also my controller put me on pause about 5 times and I had to hit the resume button. I think it was because my batteries were weak. I replaced the batteries and didn't have any more problems in the last 15 laps.
I must have lapped all of the other cars at least 6 or 7 times so I made sure to keep my eye on the race because when ever I crashed it was because I was trying to pass a car in that last corner.

The showcase is in the breakout section of Forza cup. It's the next set that you unlock as you start in Seeker then move to Breakout when you have enough points.

I also used the rubber band technique, but the game goes every 10 minutes to the menu. I’ve connected it via usb to the controller, and the controller does not switch off, the game just go into he menu as if you’d press the menu button. Maybe there was a Forza update or it’s the Fall update, but it’s quite annoying. Anybody a solution to avoid this?

The first requirement for this is you will need to have the Breakout Championship unlocked. This showcase is at the bottom inside the Breakout Championship. When selecting the showcase you will need to change the race length. Do so by pressing rb.png and then into the Assists. Go ahead and change the race length to ‘Extra Long’

Now just start the race, but be ready to race for a while as this Showcase is 69 laps and can take around 2 ½ to 3 hours to finish. Once you’re across the finish line the achievement should unlock.

The duration of the race is set in the “Help” item, at the very bottom of the list.
