How to unlock the Racecraft achievement in Forza Motorsport - Definitive Guide
For those who want to get this achievement by yourself, It's not as difficult as you think.
We gonna be playing this mode:
Featured multiplayer -- Open Events -- Spotlight Series
All you need to do is grind "the car" to level 25 to unlock all upgrade parts. This car is specified by the Spotlight series. You can check which car it is under the Spotlight Series description "Car Restrictions". For now, it's the "Dodge Viper '13". It will change every week. This car is one of the discounted cars in BUY CARS. Normally, it takes about 2 hours to level 25, if you using automatic driving to grind.
Ps: You cannot upgrade the car in a race lobby. You should upgrade it in your garage. Then select this car when you join the lobby.
After you upgrade your car. Dive bomb into the multiplayer game full of lower level cars which need to be over 14 players. Do not participate in qualifying, start from the bottom and gain 13 positions at least. This should be simple, considering you're using a high PI car against a lot of low PI stock cars. Remember to choose a circuit with which you are familiar or really easy, such as the Road America East route.
Tips: You can press menu button to the pause menu, so your car will be shadowed to avoid any potential rammer.
This is all about grind and a little luck. I got this achievement in first try, in a 22 player lobby with a 800-S car. I started 21th, finnished at 3rd on SPA-Francorchamps. Gained 18 Positions! Super easy!
FAQ:
Why the Spotlight Series?
Because it's a new car every week, most people have not upgraded. This is your chance to win.
Is there a fast way to level up cars?
Yes, Please check the brilliant solution of Garage Royalty achievement by FranconianX.

EDIT 2: Forza Motorsport Update 3.0 Release Notes – December 12, 2023: Fixed an issue where the Racecraft achievement to overtake 12 other players in a multiplayer race would not be unlocked despite fulfilling its requirements. [1441871]
EDIT: According to Myopath the description is correct again, you only need 12. If you still have issues, 13 or more should unlock it 100% of the time. If more players unlock this one at 12 please let me know in the comments and I will delete the old info.
Description seems to be wrong, it should say: "Gain at least 13 positions in any multiplayer race"..
Thanks to FranconianX and AutoOrange, I added a boosting method and some extra tips.
Legit method & tips:
At the end of a multiplayer race, every position gained or lost will show up on the leaderboard, and you need to finish at least 13 positions higher than your grid slot.
Grid slot - finish position = Positions gained (or lost) in the race
Not qualifying is the easiest way to ensure a start at the back, as most players qualify for a grid slot. You also need a decently full lobby for this, as top 3 is usually very fast and therefore 16+ player lobbies are recommended, with more players your chances increase for a solid recovery drive. Then it's all about surviving the lap 1 chaos and moving up in the field with consistent driving.
In a spec series this may be harder to complete, but every week there is a Spotlight series were everyone uses the same car, but here you can upgrade it to get an edge over other players. The same tip goes for any Open series, an upgraded car should make this a bit easier to obtain.
Boosting method:
Gather 14-24 players in a private lobby, 1 lap around an oval ( maybe even 30sec timed race should be enough?). Session time will be shorter the more players there are, as it will lower the amount of required races before everyone has the achievement.
For an easy experience give the players that need the achievement a car in a higher class than the others ( X & A for example) and sort the grid by PI with ascending grid order setting ON. Let position 14-24 pass everyone at the start/ well before the finish line, then repeat the race after swapping cars to switch up the grid order so that everyone at some point start at 14-24.
Reason for the very likely description error:
I had a multiplayer race were I and 2 other players got 12 positions gained at the end, but none of us got it. I also checked another player when he got +12 in a different race, but it didn't trigger there either.
A bit later I survived a chaos race at Laguna Seca were I started 19th and finished 6th, prompting the unlock of this achievement. So that's why I think the description is wrong.
Feel free to correct me if they patch it or if you unlock it at +12. I will edit out the outdated info if it is fixed back to 12 or more.

Here's how I accomplished this, maybe it'll work for you.
Find a longer Featured Multiplayer race, something where you know there are going to be pit stops. Ideally pick a track that has some tricky corners that lead to chaos in the first lap. Practice, practice, practice, but don't qualify.
When it's time to race, switch to HARD tires. Hang back a bit on lap one and drive carefully. Let the pack bounce off one another and try to sneak past unscathed. You'll likely gain 5-8 positions right there but taking advantage of the chaos. Then work on your own race, try to avoid contact with other racers, even move out of the way if someone is trying to tap you from behind, a spinout isn't worth it.
Bide your time, the drivers on softs and mediums will eventually pit and you'll move up a few more positions.
I did this in one run on Mid Ohio, with a level 1, unmodified LMP1 car. I'm also not the best driver by any any means. By the end of the race I had moved up 12 positions. Use the poor drivers and those who don't practice the track to your advantage.

Hi everone this is how i did this on the 15/12/2023 with the help from some othere player's as well.
I used in-game chat to help move thing's along.
You will need 13 to 24 player's. The more players you have the faster you can do this, for example if you have 20 players going for the achievement then 7 players can get it to pop at the same time. Where as if you have only 13 players you can only do 1 at a time so will take longer. So more the merrier.
So this is my method to do it.
Go to Private Multiplier.
Create event=Setup
Game type=Circuit Race.
Race length=Short.
Track=Eaglerock Speedway.
Track=Oval Circuit.
Number of laps=1
Number of player up to 24
Then go to Rules.
Grid ordering=P1.
Ascending order=On.
Then press A and accept these options, and invite player's to game.
When choosing which player's are going for the achievement first you will need to tell them to rent a P or X rated car if they don't own one of them so they start at the back of the track, and the rest of the players need to use a lower class of car like a D,E or C. Then after the 1st race you just need to swop them about into the next lot of player's going for the achievement.
Hope this helps. Good hunting.
P.S Some times the achievement do's not pop so some player's will have to do it again.

So as the description says. You need to finish the race 12 positions higher than where you started. If you qualify in the top 12, this achievement is already impossible to obtain.
The easiest way to get the achievement is to simply spend your time practicing and skipping quali completely. This means that in a normal race you will start around p20. Then stay clear of the chaos and with a bit of luck and skill you should be able to finish p8 or better quite easily. Took me 3 races to get this achievement done this way.

Tiny correction, you need to GAIN 13 spots, I twice finished 12 places better, didn't pop. Haven't managed to gain 13 spots yet, but everywhere on the TrueAchievements site people say you need to gain 13, not 12.
