You’ll need to purchase all available hats to complete this. You’ll unlock more hats for purchase as you get more medals from completing levels with all collectibles, under the regular / expert times, and with no deaths. When I started grinding this I had a few of the hats already unlocked, so I am unsure of the total cost of all hats, but the following is the easiest and fastest method for grinding coins I could find, a guide by Ranemoraken on YouTube:
The guide has you completing level 1-3, Twisty Bridge, as quickly as possible while collecting 302/322 coins. Utilizing this method, I was getting 302 coins every 2 minutes, including end level screen and loading (average level completion time between 1:38-1:43). Doing guesstimate math, I’d say it’s approximately 15-20k coins for all hats. At the time I wrote this guide, my remaining hat cost was 9.2k.
