How to unlock the The Winterhome Survivor achievement in Frostpunk: Edition - Definitive Guide
This is, without a doubt, the most difficult and stubborn achievement in the game. I took me days to get it after dozens of attempts, mainly because any advice for it isn’t consistent and sometimes things go wrong and you can’t even figure out what happened.
After seeing Azza Gee’s video completing this with Zero Deaths and a Fully upgraded Dreadnaught, I finally had a reliable guide for building/planning out the city.

He can go pretty fast sometimes and it can be hard to tell exactly what he does and why, but I’ll explain the easier to miss ones.
At the very beginning of the game turn the generator onto Level 2, turn the radius down to only the innermost circle, and fill the Public House to lower discontent. The goal is to lower it just enough so you can get Radical Treatment and stop people from dying.
Don’t put anyone in the cookhouse until the people start to get hungry. You can wait until day 3 to start cooking and give yourself a little more time with the food, but the might get sick so go for cooking on day 2 to be safe.
Then you’ll wanna dismantle the roads all over the city. Once you’ve got your scouts sent to the Weather Station for more Engineers, you’re gonna tear down nearly every tent and bunk house in the city so you can replace them into new heat zones around Steam hubs.
The more deaths you can prevent the better. You don’t want to get a Zero Hope Ultimatum before day 4.
If you can make it to day 6 you’ll be golden. I got out on day 16 with the bare minimum requirements, but you can do it sooner if you really push it.
Laws list in order: Radical Treatment. Emergency Shift (NOT Overcrowding, it’s too early for it and you need the next law more). Extended Shift (you can use this to farm extra Hope by putting everyone in 14 hour shifts, get the max discontent ultimatum, then take everyone off extended shifts to get a Hope boost). Go the Faith route and get the Churches. Shrines. Overcrowding, Evening Service. Faith Keepers. Food Additives or Care House depending how sick everyone is and if you get asked to build a care house.
After that you won’t need any more laws so get whatever.
Tech List: 2nd Scout Team. Hunting Tactics. Floating Hunter Huts, Steam Steelworks.
From here you can deviate from the video or follow exactly and get Factory’s. Improved automata’s, and improve your tech tree to get Advanced Steelworks and so on.
I wasn’t going for a fully upgraded Dreadnaught so send the Automatan from the steel bridge to the city.
Last tip is you can cheese the Outpost a bit once you’ve discovered the Fresh Water Springs. After you outpost team sends you Coal immediately take them off it and have them head to the springs to set a new outpost up. If you do this every time they send a shipment you can get 2 needed shipments a day instead of only one.
