How to unlock the A Real Friend achievement in Fuga: Melodies of Steel - Definitive Guide
First off, this achievement is MISSABLE. There also seems to be some conflicting information how to do this online.
You will eventually get a character named Britz in the second battle before the second intermission in Chapter 7 (thanks Rakoo!)
What you need to do is bond Britz with the rest of the crew, as there are some... tensions between him and the group. Britz will end up taking different actions based on his total affinity with the crew at the end of Chapter 11 which does effect the ending as well as
The wiki for this game states:
There are some people online claiming you need to do this before the middle of Chapter 10, so you don't want to delay. There are other claims where Britz only had an affinity with some of the children, but it was a high level (affinity 5 for 1, affinity 2 for a couple others for example) which leads me to believe there is a simple level threshold you need to meet. I'd play it safe and just have him bond with everyone
If you're going for the completion, you could play it however you want and do this in New Game+ which you'll have to do for a couple achievements like
as you can NOT 100% this game without a second playthrough

"If the children talk to Britz directly after he reveals his family history and manage to raise the affinity level with him to at least 2 each... [redacted for spoilers]" - https://forlittletail.fandom.com/wiki/Britz_Strudel
With this in mind, as soon as I got Britz I spent ALL my action points getting him to affinity 2 with all 11 other children then I proceeded to never talk or use Britz again. There are some people online claiming you need to do this before the middle of Chapter 10, so you don't want to delay. My experience with getting the "Pendant - 2" cutscene.
I don't know if it matters but I got the "Pendant - 2" illustration/cutscene to trigger when I went back to battle immediately after I got Jin and Britz's second link cutscene on the tank.
I'm not saying it's the only stipulation. This happened to me at the second intermission in Level 10. If you've made it this far, you know the first intermission in each level is immediate. I got the "Pendant - 2" cutscene to trigger on the second intermission.
All of my other characters were level 2 with Britz at this point and Hack was level 5. So, everybody at 2 and Jin and Hack at 5 got it to trigger for me at the second intermission on Level 10. This means that in the Library section under Illustrations you do have the one cutscene missing for awhile. That is normal until you trigger the "Pendant - 2" cutscene.
