There are a variety of ways to earn those experience points, a full list is available under the main menu. Help & Options -> How To Play -> Game Reference -> XP & Leveling Up.

A simple way to earn XP that's pretty consistent is the following:
Start a 2-player tournament with a $0 buy-in. Every hand you are dealt, go All-In before the flop. The computer AI (being fairly conservative) will rarely call you, and the hand will end. With a "Winning Streak" bonus, you'll earn usually around 550xp a hand.
On that occasion that the AI does call you, there's no penalty for losing the hand and there's always the off-chance you win - which means only more XP and money for you.

I have the best method on the lvl 50 achievement. You will also win the tourney winning achievement. You will hit 50 in no time.
To get to lvl 10 you will need about 100,000 Exp which you will get quickly while doing this method.
