How to unlock the Gold Medal Champion Summer 2011 achievement in Full House Poker - Definitive Guide

To get a gold medal you need to be in the top percentile of players in regards to EXP.

I am not sure exactly where the cut off line is, and it has been noted that these achievements may be glitchy, but I know you need to finish AT LEAST in the top 20%.

Please note that your chip stack does not affect this achievement, only EXP, so you can cater your play style accordingly.

I got this achievement with around 16k EXP and there were around 4,400 players. The top player had around 21k EXP.

A few tips for earning EXP:

1. Take advantage of bonus EXP. Some matches give bonuses for wearing a costume earned from single player or having a male or female avatar. If you're really struggling with this you might try making a female avatar for the bonus EXP as most other players are male. Also, once you play in one round of Texas Heat, the following round you will receive a %20 EXP boost.

2. Don't bust out! This will cause you to move down a table, but more importantly it wastes time that you could be earning XP! Also if you bust out at the single diamond table you will be penalized by getting no EP for a few hands. Play conservative and try to get big pots when you know you're ahead.

3. If you know you are going to win go all in. You will receive 250 XP for going 'All in to Win' , as well as others like 'Schooled' for 125 XP, 'Showdown Win' for 225 XP, and if you knock another player out with your All In you will also net a 'Takedown' for another 250 XP.

4. Exploit the computer AI players. You know they are AI because they just have a single name like Bo or Steve. Try to get in a room with AI if possible. They act a lot faster than a room full of players and they are predictable. They often shove no matter what they are holding so don't try to bluff them, just wait for your good hand and use your all in move! In the meantime hopefully they will stay in against eachother and see it to the river, netting you 300 XP for a 'Smart Fold'. If you have the chip stack to see it to the river and fold the losing hand for this bonus then by all means do so, but don't stretch yourself out.

That's about it, you will need some luck and good cards but try for Smart Folds, Takedowns, and All in to Wins and you should eventually hit your mark.

Also in the last 2 minutes of a session you will be 'locked in' at your current table so it is a good time to shove your chips if you can stand losing them for a chance at getting the 'All in to Win' bonus.

It may also be worth trying for a Life Preserver in case you do bust out you can just buy back in and continue earning XP. I think they are obtained by finishing in the top 3 at either the single or double diamond tables.

Good luck!

I got this cheevo to pop for me last night after three shows of Texas Heat. When I cranked it up and landed at the Triple Diamond table around the fourth show, I played smart and came in first place with a Rank of 304, my EXP was around 13,540 somethin like that. I got the Gold Medal, and I actually got Gold Medal back to back when my second Gold Medal had me ranked at 702 with my EXP 15, 550 or so but I already had the cheevo so it was just fun and games from this point. I'm just posting this to let some gamers know about how close in EXP you might have to be or what Rank you might have to be to get you 20% and so. And to not forget, the Gold Medals I recieved were just for the Triple Diamond table I was at becuz I noticed after I recieved my Gold, it showed another Player winning a Gold Medal for the Texas Heat Show, so I'm not really sure what difference it makes with two people winning Gold Medals. Good Luck to the rest of ya'll Gamers, I cant wait til Fall and Winter if they are goin to hook that up as well, it would be nice since im really liking poker now.

Just a quick mention about the Life Preserver you earn one of these for finishing Number 1 at any table Diamond, Double Diamond or Triple Diamond. so as it come to the last few hands try to push the others to fold with big bets or just hope to get a good hand and go for it.

And yes the Cheevo is bugged always has been, spring was the worst one so far. Example I got it Second game first show where as one of my friends got a Gold Medal in the last game and it didn't pop, as a side note it also screwed him on the Hot Hand Cheevo which he should have won several times.

got 2 gold medals last night. one at just over 13k with bout 3500 players and the other just over 16k with bout 5000 players. works better if table is replaced by AI players cuz they dont take so damn long to decide their next move. hands finish faster so xp accrues at a higher rate.

I came in the top 10% of exp across 4600 players and got the gold thanks to smart folds when the CPU decides to go all the way and having some well timed decent hands.
Thanks for these pointers.

when do you get a smart fold?

You get a smart fold when the hand plays out all the way, to the river, and the hand you folded wouldn't have won. At least two people must remain in the hand..

Sorry for those yet to get this and congratulations to those who have. I'm back at 300/300 now just got my 5mil achievement Saturday. :)

I'm sure loads have people have asked, but I just can't find and don't have an answer as to why my achievement didn't unlock, I scored 22,000 Exp, putting me #36 Overall out of around 2,000 players, yet no achievement, but my friend got it and he was in the same game with less Exp than me, I'm also struggling to unlock the Hot Pot Win achievement, which I've done around, 6 or 7 times, and again, no achievement, if you can offer me any help, at all, it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Just FYI for anyone hoping these still work...after the Summer 2012 update, these ARE NOW UNATTAINABLE.

Maybe they will do a "retro" event and turn them back on, but for now, they no longer work.
In 4 rounds of Texas Heat on 7/28/12 I won 2 Golds, multiple Hot Pots, and over 8 million chips...no achvs, just FameStar points earned.

AI players move much faster and are much easier to bluff out of a pot, which provides for more hands and a better chance at having a winning streak

Changing your NAT type from 'open' to 'closed' increases your chances of your connection crapping out when trying to play with others and landing you at a table with all AI players while still keeping you online. It's not guaranteed to work, though - just increases the chances you'll have less human-controlled slowpokes to deal with

Just don't forget to change your NAT type back to 'open' when you're done!

This will be the hardest achievement for the game. At the end of the round, you will be shown how much XP you earned that round. You don't have to be #1 but you do have to be atleast within the top 15% to get the Gold Medal. However, this isn't just the room you are in, this is for everyone playing at the time. I got this achievement by repeatedly folding and getting smart fold bonuses (except for one time, I went all in with pocket jacks and won) and got 19,000 xp. The winner had about 29,000 xp so you don't earn a ton of xp to get it. I would say if you have 17 or 18 thousand xp you will get it. You will also earn some bonus xp at the end of the game so don't panic if you are short before the game is over. Also, make sure you do not leave the game before it shows the board. Doing so will cost you the achievement.

A good tip would be is to change your avatar to a female and play on the ladies nights. Since the majority of the players in Texas Heat have male avatars, a female avatar could give you an advantage with the extra XP.

**Note (22nd May, 2012): Despite the date, there are reports that the achievements are still popping.**
