How to unlock the That Was Intense achievement in Furi - Definitive Guide

Not a solution just some helpful info.

When fighting a boss you can dashboard at any moment during the fight and the game will not save any hits or K/Os that happened during that battle. If you quit to the title screen, continue or finish the fight the stats will save. The way I went about getting this was jumping into practice mode and practicing on the boss I was on. Once I felt I can do the fight with zero K/Os or close to, I loaded up story mode and battled the boss I just practiced on. If I wasn't happy with the run I would just dashboard before my final K/O. The S rank allows quite a bit of K/Os and hits so you have a lot to work with. Some bosses are quite challenging and a K/O will most likely occur. The Scale, The Burst & The Flame are the ones that come to mind.

These are the requirements that I found online, some sites had different numbers but this is the one I choose to follow.

Final time: Under 3 hours
Hits Allowed: 600
K/Os Allowed: 30

My personal final stats were: 4 K/Os 260 hits and under 2 hours. I got downed by the bosses I mentioned above.

As you can see the developers were EXTREMELY generous when setting the S rank requirements, so this achievement is easily attainable all you need is practice. Furier is a major step up from Furi. While the bosses do the same amount of damage the attacks come a lot quicker and more unpredictable. So by jumping into practice mode I was able to memorize most of the attacks and improve my dashing skills.

The final optional boss (The Star) does not have to be completed for this achievement.

YouTube has great boss strategies if you need additional help.

Good luck and have fun! The game is fantastic.

For the record, here's the exact Rank requirements taken directly from the developer's site. They corroborate what's here in the solution, with a bit more detail.

Thanks for specifying the requirements. The ratio of this game is deceptively low. Just in case personal rough milestones help others, I'll list mine here. After the first fight, I had 12 hits. Second fight had 45 hits. Third fight had 77 hits. And as of right now I just finished boss 4 with a total of 135 hits, 2 KO, and 50 min. There was a lot of room for improvement with that last one.

Please refer to Furier than Ever for information about each boss.

Normally you aren't allowed to retry a boss fight if it went wrong, but there is an exploit for this. Going back to main menu during boss fights saves any hits and K.O.s you received previously but if you close the application by holding the PS button and return to the XMB before you see the end screen (with the continue/main menu options), your stats will be reset and you can try again the boss without any penalty. While going for the S-rank story run I recommended that you go back to the main menu as soon as you start a fight, close the game, and back up the save onto the PS+ cloud (if you have a subscription) just in case you accidentally save your progress after a bad fight.

This is the hardest trophy in the game. On Furier difficulty ,each boss has been reworked so they are harder to dodge, hit, predict and will test you to your limits!

These are the requirements for an S rank in Furi difficulty:

  • If you choose ending 1 (tied to the button):
    • final time under 3 hours
    • no more than 30 K.O.s
    • received less than 600 hits total
  • If you choose ending 2 (tied to the button):
    • final time under 3 hours 30 minutes
    • no more than 40 K.O.s
    • received less than 650 hits total

It's recommended to watch this video to see strategies for each boss:

I translated the advice of a maniac from YouTube, who was able to make this trophy to rank S. His result was 1.55 time, 16 KOs, 377 hits on it. To get rank S, you need all these 3 elements for rank S, if at least 1 is for A, the total will be A, he had enough with this result.

- During the melee phase, you can cancel a boss attack that you need to dodge by hitting him and immediately parrying. This is needed on some bosses. On this difficulty the circle is wider, the attack is faster and it is not always possible to have time to get out of the strike zone.
- Always stay away from 2nd/3rd/4th/6th/7th bosses as some of their attacks are almost impossible to dodge up close.
- Restarting is not considered a death, so try to do it if you lose.
- After each boss, exit the game and look at the result of the boss in practice mode (do not play in it). Before the bosses, load your save onto a flash drive. If you see that he is bad and will interfere with getting S for the game, then load the save from the flash drive and try to kill him again.
- You must be a master of parries. Each boss has the most difficult phase - the last one. On Furi+, it is not the player’s HP that changes, but the complexity of the phases, the number and speed of projectiles. Where there was one beam, for example, or a wave, rest assured, on Furi+ there will be 2 of them, half of the shots will become indestructible, etc. and so on.
- Try to make powerful attacks whenever possible (hold the strike button for a couple of seconds), they cause significant damage.
- You can parry shots, but I would not recommend it, for example the 7th boss fires 3 shots in a circle.

PS As far as I understand, you don’t need to kill the final boss, just choose the ending with the capture of the planet.
