How to unlock the Crimelord achievement in Fusion Genesis - Definitive Guide
To join the Sunshadow Syndicate you must go to Alpha Station and go into Embassy Missions and go into the story missions menu, the second option will be to change faction.
To join the Syndicate, head to The Ghost Zone in the top left-hand corner of the map (accessible by pressing the Y button). When you arrive you will be given the option to do Embassy Missions, do the only story mission that is there FIRST. Once you have completed the first story mission you will gain your first Faction Level and this will be how you unlock more missions for the story line as you do smaller missions for the faction in order to gain Faction XP to unlock the next one. The amount of Faction XP required to get to the next rank is your current level multiplied by 3 (Lvl 2 = 600 Faction XP required for next mission). At first you will have two characters to choose smaller Embassy Missions from, a man named Sketch and a woman named Warlord Cinnefa. Cinnefa will have three missions for you after which there will be one telling you to move to another area, I did not follow this path and as a result do not know what happens from there with her missions, each of the first three give 200 Faction xp, Sketch will have the option of doing missions with three different levels of difficulty each giving a different amount of xp (Easy=100, Medium=200 and Hard=300) I recommend doing Cineffas' missions first and then regardless of level, focusing on only the Hard missions as with my help you wont have a problem with them. The missions you should focus on are the following.
Jammed Comms- This requires you to fly to either Prospect
Field or the Clearing Area and locate a ship,
all you have to do is make contact with him
and mission complete.
Missing Ships- This requires you to fly to either Prospect
Field or the Clearing Area and locate three
ships using your radar, once you touch the
third ship mission complete.
Salvage- This requires you to fly to either Prospect Field or
the Clearing Area and locate three crates, once you
make contact with the third crate, mission complete.
The reason you will be focusing on these three missions are :-
a) They are quick, easily done within 2-3 minutes or so.
b) If you die you do not fail the mission (not including Jammed Comms if you die prior to making contact)
c) If you die after Mission Complete is displayed you will
instantly arrive at Syndicate base.
To get to the hardest missions and get the 300 Faction XP, hit the Right Trigger twice, if neither of the missions are there simply hit the Left Trigger and then return to the hardest missions, it shouldn't take very long for one of them to show up.
To get to the highest rank and unlock all the story missions you will need a total of 10,800 Faction XP, requiring a minimum 36 missions (not including the story missions) if you focus only on the hardest ones.

Surely you mean MAXIMUM, not minimum? As you get FXP for killing Praetorians, hacking spynets etc. Meaning that as you go along, you'll need less XP from missions.
Anyway, wasn't going to mention that, but I found another way, which itself sets the minimum number of missions to zero :p
Grind the Ark. Each time you play through the first area with the mites, you get 81 Faction XP per mite kill. I don't know why. I haven't tested it with other factions yet but as a member of the Syndicate you get 2 lots of FXP for each kill. 80 Syndicate XP and then 1 Syndicate XP.
I'm using a Reaper class ship with 4 maxed uncommon sentients (2 DPS, 1 tank, 1 healer) and spending the entire time in undercover. None of the enemies EVER try to target me. I switch the DPS secondary attack on and off as needed (to stop my energy running out and ruining my undercover).
I can run through the first Ark section in this manner and unlock a new Syndicate story mission in about 60 seconds. I keep getting Syndicate XP until it unlocks a mission (then none after that), which is ALWAYS before I finish this first section- usually about halfway through.
After I destroy the Boss Mite (for normal XP/drops) I quit and do the story mission, then do it again.
This works even better than the missions in both time (60 seconds as opposed to several 2-3 minute missions) and XP (as after you finish the storylines you'll be grinding through this mission as well).

The 36 missions minimum refers to the fact that if you do missions with lower XP values then you will need to do more than 36. I don't know if your experience is one that happens to others so for the moment I will keep it here in the comments until I can get some confirmation from others.
