How to unlock the Legend achievement in Fusion Genesis - Definitive Guide

My suggestion for this plus the other 'level' achievements, would be to constantly keep doing the first and second area of 'The Ark' over and over again. The things you kill give you insane experience and will level you very quickly. You'll eventually come to a state where you'll go though it once and not even level, but I guess this is the easiest method by far. Enjoy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suggested Weapons to use during your grind;

There are two types of ships you may want to use during your time grinding in 'The Ark', you've got the 'tier 3' ships or you've got the 'tier 4' ships. I did it with a tier 3 ship all the way only because it moves much faster then a tier 4 ship, also just a side note that a 'tier 3' ship is a ship with 3 weapon slots and a 'tier 4' ship is a ship with 4 weapon slots. Now weapons;
Slot 1: Battlegun 3 or 4 - doesn't matter which one, but '4' is a bit more powerful then '3', to obtain this weapon you must get a certain amount of 'Warzone' points, which you are able to spend on in the 'trade post'.

Slot 2: Power Beam - this is a random drop from bosses, if you're going for just the first two places of 'The Ark', the first boss you face has a chance of dropping it, this will make the grind far more easier with this weapon.

Slot 3: Any type of sentient - for me I was using a 'Legendary Tank' sentient, which was a random drop from one of 'The Ark' bosses, you could use something else instead of a sentient, but it's always that little bit helpful if you want to use a healer sentient, which will heal your shield back to full.

Slot 4(Optional if using a tier 4 ship): Anything since the tier 4 ship will take a while to get it's shield taken down to naught, so it's optional on what weapon you want to use, whether you want to use another Battlegun 3 or 4,Power Beam or something else, preferably not missiles or mines.

Note: Most of these helpful tips came from 'Phoenix C64', credit for him for this section, and some to myself for making it look somewhat decent.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also if you want to know how you unlock 'The Ark', if you haven't already, you have to complete the final mission Judah gives you, which is pretty much to open up 'The Ark'. You'll get this mission roughly around doing your third faction, about half way though.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update; Just reached level 100, I can confirm that this method is the best way by far to reach it and it does take a fair amount of time. I also took the extra time to see if there was a level beyond 100, as the experience meter kept going up, I can confirm that level 100 is the highest level, once you reach the end of the experience meter, all the bars will be green.

maybe you'd like to add some tips more to your solution, even tho it might seem obvious to some people. ship setup:
- tier 4 cruiser (the ones with 4 weapon slots)
- if you just do the first 2 rooms, equip 4 good weapons. no sentients needed. suggested weapon (because it's quite easy to obtain): 4* "Battlegun 4" obtained trough doing warzones. more tips on this later
- most my skills are into damage and energy. at lvl 80 i have 20/25/20/15 and now i will keep increasing damage and energy. my skills for ark xp farming: afterburn/teleport/clone/use ... if i play normally i switch teleport for flares and one gun for a legendary healer sentient.
- no need to undock. you can start the ark while docked at a station
- don't kill the 1st room boss if you didn't clean the room because everything else will vanish and you're here for the XP, right? ;)

more on warzone farming for weapons: just take the mission to kill 20 enemies in warzone, take your best equipped cruiser and if you're lucky you're alone in the game long enough to rush to the enemy base (capture points on your way there) get your 20 kills and destroy the enemy battleship. if there are more player just play normally. i got points for my 4 guns in just one evening.

oh one more thing... to make the grinf to 100 a bit less boring, now i also do the path of knowledge and kill the keeper. it's really quick and he can drop some nice items!
from the second room, it's the path north.

I pretty much used a tier 3 ship (one with 3 weapon slots of course), although I had the 'Power Beam' at the time, which made it much of an easier grind for me, I didn't put in a solution as you stated because it was pretty much based from what I already had, but I guess you have a point.

Just to clarify: "tier" doesn't have anything to do with weapon slots.
You can have a cruiser (4 weapon slots) from tier 1 to 4, only difference being more shield and armor and the use of better weapons without downgrading them to balance with the ship. When browsing your ships press Y to see what each number means and you'll see which tier your ship is.
Equipping a tier 4 weapon on a tier 3 ships results in an automatic downgrade of the weapon.

Next: cruisers (the biggest ships) are indeed slow. But they have a lot of energy to use and if they use pulse weapons they can fire infinitely without the weapon overheating. The best is to use 4* autocannons (battlegun 4) so all your energy can be used to afterburn. This is the most dps and speed/armour setup you can get (4400dps + afterburner speed) until you find power weapons while doing the ark

Next: 3 slot ships are faster, yes. But also die much easier and much less dps. If you want to use a 3slot ship, at least make sure it's the tier4 version so it has more shield and armour and the weapon isn't automatically downgraded

@ x FlamingMagicz : just curious - how long did it take you to reach 100 with this method? An estimate.

my average time, including loading time and animations, is 3m45s to clean both rooms
from lvl85-100 you get approx. 1 level every 2 clears. that makes roughly every 8m.
before that it goes much quicker.
you should leave this achievement for the last, because by the time you did all other achievements you're probably lvl 65+ already
so, lets say you get 1lvl from 65-85 every 4min.
and 1lvl from 85-100 every 8min.
that makes around 200min which is little more than 3h. of farming if you do this achievement as the last one and are already around lvl65 before starting the "grind"

PS: last two levels will take around 4-5 runs each, meaning 15-20min. each.

Brilliant solution with lots of good info, thanks a lot! I just want to add that the Battlegun 4's just really aren't necessary and if anyone doesn't want to, they don't need to spend any time grinding Warzones or Legion Raids at all. I ended up just using a Tier 4 Heavy Fighter (Order in my case) with 4 Rupture G-Beam's (a laser you can buy at stations in later zones) and a level 5 Roll skill. Just constantly lock-on the Ruptures and Roll as soon as you see lasers lock onto you, and the room becomes pretty easy. No need for uber-guns that take about as long to get as reaching level 100 does...

True, Battlegun's are required - but you have to grind the Warzones anyway for 2 factions if you are 100%'ing the game. Ok, you don't have to, but with 1 Battlegun 1 I was able to clear each tier 1 warzone in under 4 minutes as it outranged the battleships. Also, if you go to the mission guy with easy/medium/hard and move his missions to hard and then accept a warzone mission, it gives as much faction XP as a hard mission. I easily purchased 1 BG4 during each military faction grind. I do prefer the Consortium heavy fighter (4 weapon slots, infinite BG firing special) to Cruisers though.

This achievement is best left for last. You will of course earn experience running all of the faction missions and the Ark Raid.

It is highly helpful to grind warzones until you have a pair of Battlegun 4s. Under no circumstances do you need more than two. The reason for this is that even an uncommon sentient can buff your offense by 40% if specced for it (the first page of stats are buffs to the _player_), and a DPS has an active buff for an additional percentage. Thus two guns and two sentients can be about as effective as four guns, moreso if one is a DPS. This is before considering the sentient's own dps and other benefits.

Anyway, once you have a pair of BG4s and a tier 4 Order or Dominion Cruiser (note tier is separate from hull, there are four tiers of every hull), make sure you are specced into Clone. The Clone skill will allow you to solo the Legion Invasion in The Tempest region. This seems to be faster experience than grinding the Ark lobby, and has the added benefit of dropping legendary upgrades, every time. A legendary pulse upgrade or two will make it much faster.

Travel to the Tempest Region via the map, from there you can launch a Legion Invasion under Special Missions and specify that zone. There are only two approaches. Divide your time between the two, leaving a fresh clone behind and rebuffing just before you leave an approach. Focus on the turret upgrades and launch station security if you get into trouble. You should get 100 in only a couple of hours if you have unlocked all other achievements.

Just for comparison - I did the first 2 rooms of The Ark and cleared them in 7 minutes and went from 67.7 to 69.3. Next I tried this method and it took nearly 10 minutes to go from 69.3 to 69.7. While it was a fun way to mix it up for a bit, the XP was far slower. Just waiting for new enemies to spawn in kills the speed you can farm this at compared to The Ark (and far less XP per enemy).

Great guide, i thought it worth mentioning you can gain extra xp from grinding warzone by selecting one of the three embassy missions to do with warzone if your playing as dominion

Once you finish faction missions, main story missions and do the warzone and Legion raids you should be around level 50. Best place to grind these levels out is the first area of The Ark. Do the first two areas and exit, then repeat. At first you will level up very quickly, but the closer you get to level 100, the slower you will level up. Keep at it and you will get it. If your struggling to survive The Ark, purchase a better ship and better weapons. I used a tier 4 cruiser equipped with Battlegun 4s, a uncommon healer and a uncommon DPS sentient. Battlegun deals great damage, the healer to heal your cruiser (shields and hull) and DPS to help with shields. With this setup, you will breeze through. You can get better equipment than this, it's just what I used. Good luck!

The fastest way to level up is to do the Ark mission and clear the first two areas.
