This is the way I did it and I thought it was a decent route
1. Start all of the faction quest to at least the first level. Do one faction go back to the center. Switch factions. After done with all I advise to switch back to the Consortium.
2. The reason why i said switch back is for this. Buy another sentient does not matter what kind. Use the basic ship you have and farm in the minefields till both are max. While doing it make sure one gets at least 1 in trader (extra money and speeds farming up a bit). Max out miner on both sentients ASAP. After both are level 32 and if most points are in attack they can be your primary attack for most things. If you really want you can get all three types, allows you/me to be lazy while maxing all factions.
4. Aim for Tycoon. Here is where you get some choice. I like to try the other ships even in other zones, but aiming for Lost Pilot is most likely quicker in the long run.
I made level 26 before I got Tycoon. I say Tycoon cause so far it has been the easiest to max for me.
