How to unlock the My Blisters have Blisters! achievement in Game Room - Definitive Guide

Play Crystal Castles.
Get to the 4th Map, the castle.
Run into the 3 green things when they eat a gem to kill them.
Pick up the hat and run into the witch.
Then go inside the castle and wait in the top left corner.
You can stay here as long as you want and the bees can't reach you, just twitch your stick every so often so the game doesn't think you're not playing. I got it this way while watching TV.

I wish I had known about this earlier. I actually sat and played Shaolin's Road for an entire hour to get this.

hey darth. guess how semi-bored I was while going for this achivement and having lunch at the same time? :P your comment made me want to analyze it musically. so here's what I found out:

it starts by playing indistinguisable noise for the time it takes to go through one octave (72 seconds). then the first actual note I was able to hear was an A natural. the game would then take about 7.5 minutes to get through 6 more octaves, at which point my TV speakers could no longer handle the intensity of the pitch -- not to mention my ears :P -- but it would continue in silence for the time of 2 octaves, after which it would restart the cycle. lol

semi-productive use of time?
maybe [but i did eat my lunch so...]
finding out exactly how ear-splittingly painful the makers of this game made their sound effects?
priceless XD

I got this last night, your solution is even easier with a Hori Pad. I set the A button to turbo and the left d-pad to turbo so the game thought I was playing... then watched "Breaking Bad" while the achievement unlocked itself!

If you go to Classic mode on whatever game you bought (I did it on Finalizer) go to the DIP switch and put as many lives as possible, easiest difficulty and easiest live bonuses. Then every time you die you just rewind time and if there is a part where you Have to die thats what the extra lives are for. The achievement pops up after you've played an hour straight. Also if you manage to get a game over, if you just continue it will still count towards the time. Good luck!

I made this video showing the same solution as 'Loopstahblue'. I have annotated it to help along the way.

I recommend the Crytal castles game because it is very simple and has easy to do medals which help along with other achievements and therefore save you money.

If you have an auto fire controller, this solution could also help you get the 36 hours achievement. Just set your controller to auto fire on the A and leave it while you sleep!

UPDATE: I did this achievement before each game had a timer. The basics are still the same - play one game for a continuous hour, rewinding time if you wish but not getting a game over. What's probably easiest is choosing Video Pinball or one of the Breakout-style games, playing the first ball, and then never getting the second. You'll have to move the paddle back and forth every once in a while to keep the clock going. If it stops you can usually start it again by moving the paddle. The achievement should unlock as soon as you hit an hour of game time.

ORIGINAL SOLUTION:
To get this achievement you need to play one game for a continuous hour. You can rewind time but you can't get a game over screen. Also, some games are a bit finicky on how they calculate time spent in-game so if you pause or don't move for too long it will stop the clock counting time played.

I used Pitfall as it has a handy built-in timer and seems to be close to real time as long as you are playing. Just rewind time if you die and once the timer gets under a minute rewind the whole game and start over. Do that two or three times and the achievement should unlock shortly afterwards.

It may be possible to rubberband it as well - to get the survivalist gold medal I ran back and forth between two screens on the bottom until time ran out. It may still count if you just run against the wall but I didn't try it so I don't know for sure. You'd still need to rewind time a couple of times as the game is over after 20 minutes.

I was able to get this very easily with lunar lander, all you do is whenever you get close to the ground and the camera view zooms in, tap B "boost" 3-5 times with a tiny pause inbetween each press *try to stay on the map*. Alternatively, you can just casually tap the B button to keep afloat or hold down the RT.

Even then if you do fly off the map and get reset it won't disqualify you from the achievement *Also according to people you can crash and it still wont disqualify you*, as long as you don't leave it setting for a while it is impossible to mess this up.

Oh, and do remember to tap LB for more fuel every once and a while.

Play Adventure as you only have to pick up the arrow to keep the enemy away.

Use the key to enter the castle to get the arrow.

Move around for an hour or you can just move every couple of minutes so there is not time reset.

Be advised that this was really boring.

This, as well as every other time based achievement is easy to get now that Game Room's 3rd set of games has come out.

Simply get Super Block Out and start a game. I have purchased the game so I played a ranked game.

With Super Block Out, the timer starts as soon as you enter the game. The thing is, you actually have to initiate the game to start by hitting the green button to get the ball on screen and bouncing between blocks and your paddle at the bottom of the screen.

To waste time and crank up more time stats, simply don't press the green button. Leave your controller sit there, occasionally move the paddle side to side or hit the yellow, blue or red buttons to change your starting screen (and ensure your controller doesn't switch off)

I tried this out last night while watching TV - won myself the gold time spender medal on the game but miscalculated my time so my "game" only went 57 minutes.

But its easy enough to try again and get right - just allow at least 75 minutes to elapse before actually beginning play.

EDIT - I've discovered you need at least 80 minutes of play in real time to get this achievement in Super Block Out. Set a timer as you get into the game and go from there.

SECOND EDIT - July 28, 2010: There is another great option to get this achievement now that further Game Packs have come out. Laser Blast is the game you need to get.

Practice first on the demo or with free play and you'll see how easy it is to get into a rhythm, shoot the bases and build up lives.

Once you start playing for real it is so very easy to build up lives and play for an hour or more, destroying bases and racking up points. Not only is it an option to get this achievement, it is one of the easiest three-gold games in Game Room.

Your only enemy really is boredom.

I did this on Seaquest.

Start the game and stay above the water line (starting position), move left or right every now and then to avoid the idle screen.

It doesn't matter if you do this in classic or ranked play.

If you're going for the time spending achievements, this is also a good game to have.

You can get this pretty easy with RealSports Tennis legit. I tried the rubber bands and it didn't work. The games last pretty long to begin with on 1 player. If you get close to the end of the match just keep rewinding to keep it going. Mine popped after playing for 37 minutes so who knows. I had played a few before without leaving the game so maybe you can do that too. Either way if you have an hour to spare this way is a layup.

This is easy with RealSports Tennis.

Select the 1 Player SLOW game with the computer on Expert Level. This makes it really easy to have long rallies.

Make sure you engineer each game to get to several deuces and make sure you can force a tie-break in the first couple of sets.

I managed to drag out the first set to 40 mins. Once the achievement pops you can end the game and get the Time Spender medal as well.

I was able to get this achievement by using the easter egg described in Yars Revenge. I was playing a challenge against a friend and got to the HSWWSH screen. At that point there is no way to continue to the next level so you must exit the game using the menu. I decided to wait until the time reached an hour while periodically moving the stick and/or pressing A. As soon as the 60 minute mark was reached the achievement popped.

For those who don't know about the easter egg (I can't believe I remembered it from the original game) it's listed below (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yars%27_Revenge#Easter_egg)
After killing the Swirl in mid-air, a black vertical line will appear on the screen across the spot where the Swirl was shot. If the player moves vertically along that line and is about 1-2 inches below the middle of the screen when the explosion closes, the game will end and go into the Game Select screen with programmer's initials, HSW, shown both forwards and backwards in place of the word Select. In game 6 or 7, JOV appears when this trick is performed, under the creator's initials.

I used Armor Battle form the Intellevision line. It's technically a 2-player game, but you can play solo.

Premise - you control 2 tanks, both blue. the other "player" has 2 black tanks. 3 direct hits and tank goes BOOM! You just drive around, take your sweet, sweet time destroying the enemy tanks until you win the game.

One thing - your tank slows down if you drive in water. that might help eat up some time.

My Blisters have Blisters! achievement - Play a game for 1 hour continuously.

I played "Kaboom" from the Atari 2600 games for this achievement. Play a "ranked" game. After the 3 second countdown, the game will begin. But the bomber won't drop bombs until you press the "A" button. Just move the Lt stick at least once a minute and the clock will keep ticking. You can also use this trick while attempting the achievement requiring 36 hours of play time.

If you vote negative, please let me know why so I can adjust the solution. Thanks.

Some games, such as Scamble and Tutankham have a DIP switch for infinite lives. Just set it to infinite (called unlimited in game) and have fun.

I found an easy way to do this achievement. Play on yar's revenge; when the game starts loose immediately a life. Then it appears a black screen in which are indicated points and the number of remaining lives. If you press A you can continue the game; don't press A and stay on this screen. The time continues to go ahead, wait for one hour and the achievemement will pop. :) There is only need a lot of patience and don't forget to move analogic stick once for 10-15 minutes to avoid that the joystick turns off. I hope that it helps. :)

The game Blades of Steel, a hockey game, is perfect for this achievement; at the title screen just insert a ton of "coins", a.k.a just push LB, then let loose for an hour. I was playing the whole time, but you could just leave it and push a button every now and then, although it's actually a pretty fun game.

Thanks to ReliantGung ho for this twist to the method that needs a turbo controller:

"Hey, it worked - but I made a slight adjustment to your idea. [...] I'd used my hori pad and turbo boosted the a button - no need to check back on the game."

WARNING: The game involved in this solution, Blades of Steel, ONLY has a Time Spender medal; this game has no Point Buster or Survivalist medals. So if you're trying to get the best bang for your buck, this probably isn't a great method for you; it is, however, a good one for people who are looking for getting this achievement easily, accidentally purchased it without this knowledge, or like classics in general and wanted this game!

I got it on Pitfall two. Just get the character and move it about occasionally and it will come up after an hour or so. As you cannot die in Pitfall 2 this was the perfect way to get this award.
Also the game is pretty good even though it is 30 years old.

Got it last night in SCRAMBLE. Play Classic mode, set the switch to UNLIMITED ships.

What I did then was just to leave the ship flying and crashing while I was doing some other things. BUT... I failed. It turned out that UNLIMITED lives aren't actually UNLIMITED. It's something like 99 lives I suppose. So if you just leave the game running, you will lose those 99 lives before you hit the 1 hour mark. And GAME OVER. No achievement.

SO, what I did was... I used tape to fix the left stick in the up-right position. Then the ship will always fly as far right and up as possible and all the rockets will miss it. Thus you will get to the end of stage one and then crash when you run out of fuel. Then you respawn back at the beginning.

This way the game will run for more than an hour EASILY.

Oh, and don't forget to press A on your controller every once in a while to prevent the game from going into PAUSE.

You CANNOT turn a game on and walk away. Many games on here will simply reset after a few minutes, or simply stop counting time after a minute or two if you don't do anything. Simply play a normal game on Single Player Classic mode. The achievement pops in game and you can rewind time without it counting against you.
