How to unlock the My First Medal achievement in Game Room - Definitive Guide

You will probably unlock this after playing your first game. Either get enough points for the bronze Points Buster medal or survive long enough for the Survivalist medal (most likely you'll get both).

Can this be done on a demo, or do you have to purchase a game?

You must purchase the game. Medals only appear if you own the game.

This achievement requires paid content.

To earn this achievement, you must unlock a single medal in Game Room. Medals can only be earned in ranked play, and in games that you either own, are purchasing sessions with using the 40 MS point option, or on games that your console is licensed to (i.e. Someone else bought that game on your console). Medals can NOT be earned in demo play, classic play, or if you are using tokens to play a friend's machine.

There are three medal varieties:
Point Buster : These medals are awarded when you reach certain score targets.
Survivalist : These medals are awarded for surviving a set amount of time in a single play.
Time Spender : These medals are awarded for cumulative game play.

Every game has a Time Spender medal. Note that Time Spender medals can be earned in ranked or classic play, and are cumulative between game sessions. Most games also have a Point Buster and Survivalist medal. Medals "upgrade" as you progress. What this means is that if you have a Bronze medal and suddenly earn a Silver medal, you only have a Silver Medal. This will only count as 1 medal. Bronze, silver, and gold medals all count.

A chart of which games have which medals available, and the goals that must be met to get those medals is posted here:

You will need to download at least 1 game to get this.

There are 3 different medal types in each game:

1) Point Buster: Beat a preset score.
2) Survivalist: Beat a preset time.
3) Time Spender: Play a certain amount of time.

Each medal type has a Bronze, Silver, and Gold medal. Win at least a Bronze medal of any type in 1 game to unlock this achievement.

----Details about Medals----

1) Point Buster: Beat a preset score.
-Each game has a preset score it intends for you to beat. Play the game, beat the score, and you'll win your medal. If you only unlock the Bronze medal, it will then display the next score you need to win to get to Silver.

2) Survivalist: Beat a preset time.
-Each game has a preset time it intends for you to survive during the game without losing. Play your best, and at the end of your game it will show you how long you played total in that one playthrough. If you only unlock the Bronze medal, it will then display the next score you need to win to get to Silver.

3) Time Spender: Play a certain amount of time.
-This is accumulative of all your play time on one game. Just play the game lots and lots and it will unlock, no matter how much you rock or suck at the game.

Ok so here is another solution by me... wich isn't ment to adjust what the others say here, just to point to some ways to unlock this or other achievements...

First off, you can get 80 gamerscore by simply downloading the free gameroom (yes 80 out of 1000 points are FREE!)

Methods that unlock achievements/medals are:

- Buy the full game (240 MS points)
- Buy the 1 time play session (40 MS points)

The 1 time play session that you can buy for 40 MS Points WILL unlock achievements and let you earn medals after you played...

Methods that won't unlock achievements/medals are:

- Play the demo
(since you can just rewind until you get back your life or when your 10 mins. demo expires)
- Play for in-game coins
(you visit your friends rooms or they visit yours and you'll get virtual gamecoins to spend into your or your friends arcades. Playing with these will give you another play session for 10 minutes and WON'T unlock achievements!)

EDIT: I got 2 achievements by just playing one session (40 MS points)

You can just play your game on an arcade for 1 session with 40 MS points, but if you join a friends gameroom, and play that game for 1 session, you get another achievement called 'The Player'... This is an achievement that you get for playing on a friend's arcade. So basically for 40 MS points that i had left on my account i got 2 achievements.
