How to unlock the Too Cool for my Score achievement in Game Room - Definitive Guide
This achievement requires paid content.
In order to get this achievement, you must first set a high score. High scores can only be set in ranked play. To access ranked play you must either play a machine that you have a license to play (either you purchased it or someone else on that XBox purchased it) or you must pay 40 MSP on a machine to buy a session. This achievement cannot be unlocked through demo play, classic play, or by using tokens on a friend's machine.
Once you've set a high score, simply beat it. The easiest way to do this is to fail horribly on your first play of a game by running into walls, bullets, or whatever else it takes to end the game quickly. Immediately play that game again and get a decent score and the achievement will unlock.

How can you do it offline if you have to do it in ranked play?

"Ranked Play" in Game Room means the arcade machine as it would be if you just walked up and put a quarter in. No continues, no rewind, no modifiers.

You simply need to set a High Score in a game and then beat that high score. I did this by playing my first two games of Tempest, scoring more during the second play.
NOTE: This must be done in "Ranked Play". As it says when you start the game, scores and stats are not recorded for "Classic Play".

Yes, as it says when you start the game, there are no scores or stats recorded for classic play.

As other solutions have mentioned, this achievement requires that you purchase an arcade game for your arcade (240 MSP).
Enter the room in "My Arcade" where you placed your game, start the game, and make sure you select "Ranked Play". This achievement will only unlock when playing Ranked.
I believe this achievement can be unlocked fairly easy on most games, but by far the easiest game to unlock this in is "Pitfall!"
Start the game in "Ranked Play", as previously mentioned. You start the game with 2000 points. Next, run/jump toward the right side of the first screen and run into/hover over the first log on the screen. This will cause your points to start falling rapidly from 2000, dropping toward zero, though you only need to hit the log for a few seconds to get the points to fall to anything below 2000. Then, continue to the next screen and jump in the pit multiple times to use up all of your lives and end the game.
At the menu screen, select the option to play the game again. A little bit after you start the second game, the achievement pops!! You start with 2000 points right from the beginning, higher than the score you posted in the previous game!

This achievement is NOT free but can be unlocked for at least 80MSP (requires to pay-per-play sessions of 40 MSP each). Play any game that records your high score. Score a few points, then die, then simply play the game again. As soon as you go past your previous high score, the achievement unlocks.
