How to unlock the A Challenger Emerges achievement in Gears 5 - Definitive Guide

At the moment of this posting for a guide, Gears 5 Ranked is currently in Pre-Season.
However you are still able to manage to obtain this achievement.

There are 6 different ranks with 3 Tiers to each Rank.
Bronze 1, 2, 3 - Silver 1, 2, 3 - Gold 1, 2, 3, - etc...

We only need to get to Silver 1 which is the bright side and while playing in Bronze, you don't pay any GP to play in ranked, so it only comes down to a matter of how much time/games you need to play.

I unlocked this when I was playing King of the Hill Ranked.
For KotH, the point value system went as:
Bronze 1:
0 - 500
Bronze 2:
500 - 1250
Bronze 3:
1250 - 2000

That being said, overall you only need to accumulate 2000 GP overall.
500 for first tier, 750 for second tier and 750 again for third tier.

In King of the Hill, the point value system per game gets maxed out.
You will only obtain a max amount of 80 points for kills/eliminations, 10 points max for Ring Captures and 10 points max for Ring Breaks.
So for each game you can only obtain 100 GP for game play.
You will receive an additional 150 GP per win as well.
So with a win you can max out each game with 250 GP.

Slipper21 says: Update for the new season. Bronze 2 requires 3000gp. Bronze 3 requires 7000gp (cumulative). A match win in KOTH rewards you with 1500gp. Silver 1 now requires 15000gp.

I am unsure how the point value system works in the other game modes, so please leave some notes if you take the other route and play those game modes instead.

Another point to make is when you do finally get to Silver Rank 1 and the achievement did not pop, simply reload the game so Gears 5 can adjust the stats properly. This happened to me as I was 155 GP into Silver 1. Simply quit and reloaded the game and the achievement popped.

Achievement was glitched for me as well, it unlocked later than when I earned it.
I think 2v2 Gnashers is the most optimal gamemode for getting this as the matches are the shortest and if you're good the points should come up fast. King of the Hill rounds take too long and if you win a round but lose a match you don't get any Gears Points.

You may to hard reset or reload the game to allow the game to properly adjust the stats. This has happened on some previous achievements in the game when they were freshly released. @xNSHD

In 2v2 gnashers, points are 6 for elimination (Max 90) and 2 for revive (Max 10). Match win is 150.

do the math on that Trombonafide, that equals 250. every mode in ranked except FFA (320 max) gives a max of 250

hm.. that seems odd. Even when I did lose a match, I still got my GP that I obtained throughout the match. Maybe just as the achievements, some of the system is a bit buggy.

But Trombonafide's math is right. 6 GP (90 max) for each kill/eliminations and 2 GP (10 max) for revive's, so 100 GP max for game play and 150 GP for a win, meaning you can get 250 GP max with a win.

I’m not sure if 2v2 Gnashers is the optimal path, I just prefer it because the matches are short.

Also, it’s the only Versus mode I can stand.

Just so you know you can hit Y over the gamemode and it'll tell you how much GP per kill/capture/win. Seems FFA would be the fastest method as long as you can place pretty high on the scoreboard

You get so much eliminations depending on who you play with and how long the games last. I was in a game where an enemy had exactly 100 kills. I believe no one scored below 40 kills in the game. It was crazy fun willed with Wall-bouncing and 'nades thrown. But yeah, one point isn't too bad at all.

As a casual player getting destroyed by people who I assume are 1) pros at using the wall-bounce technique, and 2) on a level of caffeine that would stop my heart, I really hate this achievement. I'm getting about 150 GP per match on my best game mode.

Quitting and restarting my console and reloading the game worked for me. The achievement popped at the ranked menu screen. I was triggered as fuck for a minute as I usually suck at gears and have been playing 2v2 gnashers and KOTH for days trying to get silver. Finally popped it after rebooting after getting silver I in 2v2 gnashers. I've always been more of a horde guy, and now escape is cool too, but I wish they'd bring back beast mode.

Even if your bad it should still be possible since you don't lose any GP being in bronze. Even if you only manage to get a few points each game you'll still end up getting it since you'll score the occasional win and up till you reach silver you lose nothing from being bad.

Seems like most of my issues were server lag, I had issues with surprise deaths and missing shots every game a player had a ping over 150.

Speaking of lag, I had to restart Gears to pop the achievement. And it showed up on TA before it registered on my Xbox.

I think the requirements may have changed a few times. However I just unlocked it in the Control playlist. You just grind out games until you reach 100,000 cumulative points in the playlist. You will unlock a reward and the achievement. Hope this helps

I can confirm the above comment is correct, grind out a game mode until you reach 100,000 points and unlock the 1st reward. I did this on control and it popped straight away at 103,000 points.

@Sleepy Dogg 007 - I just got silver 1 on FFA and of course the end match screen did that "cannot connect to leaderboard" rubbish. I didn't get the achievement so will try to run another match now and see if it pops. Time for another 10 minute wait to find a match

Edit: I just loaded the game up to play an extra ranked match and after the loading screen finished the achievement popped for me. Looks like a restart is all that was needed :)

As of Season 13 and later, you earn this achievement by earning 100,000 leader board points in a Competitive Game Type. The easiest are going to be Control and TDM. Look at the leader boards to see the active game modes. You have to do this during one season, which runs eleven weeks. You get points based on game activity and a 5,000 point bonus for win and a bonus if playing solo. You will get a mark and 10,000 XP. The Triple bonus will be applied to the 10,000. If you end the season in Top 1,000, you will also get Heroic Weapon skins

Note: Being in the Top 1,000 and receiving the Weapon Skins will NOT unlock this achievement.
