How to unlock the All Aboard the Crazy Train! achievement in Gears 5 - Definitive Guide

For those looking to "CHEESE" Insane difficulty here's how to do it :)
- I can confirm that this method works for both players only needing 1 play-through

- Host plays on INSANE while co-op partner plays on BEGINNER with the co-op partner doing most / all of the killing (can use a 2nd controller w/ main on INSANE)

**Kait MUST be the host as if Kait quit the game will end.** - Thanks @Onechien

- PAUSE once at the end of a chapter (use the video below to see when they end)

- Have co-op partner leave and come back on INSANE difficulty

- When both are in the game and ready, have the host un-pause and have the co-op partner hit cn_RT to come back before the chapter ends

- The video below will prove useful so you don't waste time backing out multiple times in a chapter when your unsure when it will end.

- Timestamps are included so you can jump to any chapter you need, it also starts with showing you how to check you progress in-game as the tracking in this game has proven to be a little buggy

Solutions to gears 5, only the most difficult have been noted, and techniques to pass them.

Overall I wouldn't say it's the hardest gears of war, that goes to gears 1 (train boss) and on gears 2.(the dreaded turret defence with out coop it's practically impossible to shoot those flying pesky enemies down as there's some scripted invisible timer, that was intended and designed for coop sequence, not important if you do not remember) 🤔😆

And lastly the gastly gears of war judgement (as baired), while that last stage is almost on a entirely on a different planet, and where talking vanquish arcade mode if any one remembers 😅 (not important if you don't)

Anyways to conclude gears 5, here's the solutions for act 2, act 3 will be included following the the rest.

I didn't add act 1 on insane for it was not that difficult, however and unless we are talking about the brumak in gears 4 example gears 4 brumak:
https://youtu.be/fxTXD94cerk
then I would have added a solution, since for the brumak on gears 5 act 1 would only just require Cole trains assistance and your entire team was there.

Concluding The snatcher on act 1 gears 5

That snatcher was a requirement of trail and error didn't require a solution (some may disagree) given the sheer size of environmental movement and less suppression compared to act 2's snatcher.
Given here:
Act 2 south mine snatcher (insane single player guide)
https://youtu.be/RkevNV4aLwk
Act 2 matriarch research lab (insane single player guide)
https://youtu.be/sMR7KKpbKb0
Act 2 North tower warden (insane single player guide)
https://youtu.be/epXYkcPnyU8
Act 2 east tower cion (insane single player guide)
https://youtu.be/QDJvClWZtaY

(Strongly advisable to equip del with anything deadly, rockets, electric rockets, charged bows, ect by pointing your gun at him Same as below with your team)

Act3 Northern Rocket base Warden(insane single player guide)
https://youtu.be/ZCxheKfBdDA

(Overall I'm loving the game, just next time I'll give that matriarch a real go, as I feel sorry for it, all that detail it truly needs a challenge) 😆

It says that everytime they come back and change to INSANE. As long as they finish on INSANE they WILL get progress 100%. From experience it's not good to speak for someone else b/c usually they just did something wrong

Question: that quitting to main menu and coming back etc. Is only needed if BOTH People want the achievement, right? If I'm using an alt account to boost, I can simply play all the game with my main using Kait Insane and Just have my alt account on Beginner and complete the game, right? Without having to quit to main menu with the second account etc.

I just completed this playing as Jack on Insane difficulty with a second player as Kait on Beginner and I gotta tell you, it was easy af. Probably the easiest Insane completion so far. Just hide somewhere invisible during the battles and during the escape sections Jack doesn’t take any damage.

Can you do this in split screen co-op with a second controller signed in as guest? (The guest on beginner and the primary on insane).

Can you get the insane achievement if the second person still stays on casual and you don’t switch them back to insane towards the end? As that second person has already gotten the achievement and just wants to help or with the a second controller?

Finished the campaign using 2 controllers, main on insane and the other on beginner. The achievement will not unlock. My issue is with act 2 chapter 2, the chapter select shows the chapter hasn't been completed at all and the stats section shows the same. I've gone back and done that chapter again multiple times solo and Co op but no change except the stats section now indicates I've completed the chapter on insane but this hasn't unlocked the achievement.

Anyone else encounter this kind of situation?

To note I've also tried reinstalling the game and deleted the local save to no avail.

I know I’m super late on this but does this method work on the same Xbox, couch co-op? For example I’m on insane and I run my friends account on beginner. I stop towards the ending of the chapter, pause and then back out and switch my friend to insane? Would it still give both of us credit?

I'm interested in working on this. Feel free to hit me up if you fancy doing an hour or so here/there on UK timezone mid afternoon/evening at the weekends. Could even work on it as a three to make it a bit simpler. I could host as Kait and then have two others on beginner to push us through - but then the drop out drop back in as above.

So I just completed the campaign on Insane and boy. Let me tell you. This has got to be the hardest campaign of them all. Honestly, the main problem is that it is too long and ammo is scarce but hopefully with the tips I provide you can get this difficulty out of the way.

*First, and foremost, I'd recommend doing it solo. The reason for this being that most enemies always target the AI companion or Jack, making it far too easy to chill in the back and kill the enemies from a safe distance.

*Be sure to explore every area to get Jack components and upgrade him. It is not necessary to find all of them, but fully upgraded Jack abilities can balance the odds in your favor.

*Speaking of abilities, it is imperative that you have Stim and Hijack equipped at all times (Switching it with ricochet shield for act IV). This 2 abilities are the best in the game. Flash with its ultimate upgrade is also good for flocks and big mobs of enemies.

*Always, and I repeat, ALWAYS carry a heavy weapon. (With the exception of a Buzzkill). You can mantle with this weapons, open doors and they can help save your live, specially in earlier acts were you do not have much upgrades.

*Be sure to get relic weapons. They are not hard to find. During my playthrough I came across the Longshot relic (Act II) and it was amazing for battling Scions, then I heard that the Boomshot relic holds 15 ammo and that would've made it easier. And for Act III search for the Embar relic and Lancer GL relic. Honestly, the Embar must be the best weapon in the game it absolutely melts Swarmaks. Also, not a relic weapon but keep a Boltok with you.

*It took me approximately 12 hrs to complete the campaign on Insane with most collectibles, you might see that I haven't unlocked the achievement. That is because the game is currently buggy as hell. I'd recommend waiting a couple of days until it is sorted out.

As a final note, I am unsure if the Insane/Beginner co-op combo for campaign is available in Gears 5, but It'd save everybody a lot of trouble. If anyone knows if it works, please comment so that I can update the solution.

Happy hunting!

Edit: As confirmed by MushaConvoy, the Insane/Beginner combo works on this game.

Insane/Beginner combo works just fine. While I haven't unlocked it yet, the achievement has been tracking just fine. I've hosted the game on Insane, had co-op buddy on Beginner. Don't forget to reach around your buddy, its just common courtesy.

When I finished my campaign, like others, the achievement bugged and did not unlock. My stats said that I had finished every mission on Insane except for 3.1. In fact, it didn't even record a completion at all on that mission, which is obviously impossible. So, I loaded up 3.1 and when I hit the first checkpoint, my achievement unlocked. Can't say it will work for everyone, but it worked for me.

@Kindled Knave. I was in the same boat as many others, having the campaign completed with no achievement. Not sure if you want to add this to the end of your guide, but people can view their stats for each act and will see what didn't register; look under where it says "Solo" and "Co-op). If it doesn't have the Insane emblem on the chapter, you know which chapters to redo.

One piece of advice, I know the guide mentioned it, but I must stress that you get the Embar relic in Act 3 and never let it go. That thing is a destroyer of worlds. Scions and Snatchers go down like they ain't shit with that thing.

By The SCHWARTZ 00 on 28 Sep 2019 22:20
Oh and BTW, I did the whole thing solo. This is definitely one of the easier Insane campaigns in the series thus far imo. Some sections were tough but only took 15-20 minutes to get past. Nothing was as brutal as Judgements final boss battle on Insane Declassified or the Lambentzerker in Gears 3. The Embar/Longshot Relics and upgraded Jack make most battles fairly easy.

By The SCHWARTZ 00 on 30 Sep 2019 21:23
@The SCHWARTZ I definitely agree that this was one of the easier campaigns in the series so far on insane, especially if you're doing it solo. It had some annoying moments where the lack of competent AI screwed me over, but overall it was far easier. I used the Insane run as the opportunity to grab all of the upgrades for Jack and if you are doing that achievement run on the same playthrough it makes Insane much easier. I think the only part that really drove me nuts was one of the side missions in act 2 for Hollow Storm had bugged out graphics that I couldn't fix in any way, only happened on my insane run, no problem on new game or another save. It was the Hollow Storm side mission where you could use cloaking to stealth through it. My screen was bugged with the haze overlay and it made everything almost pure white in that area. Most frustrating part of the run for me.

There you'll find the chapters left for the completion.

Something weird happened and I need an advice.
I am getting correct progress to this achievement (46/100 since I completed 7/15 missions), but for some reason on the other 'simple' achievement which says to beat the campaign on any difficulty I am only getting 40/100 (6/15 missions).
I went to Stats in game and indeed, the last chapter I beat in Insane Act II - Chapter 3, appears as not completed at all, although, as I said, the Insane achievement correctly tracks it as completed.
I am now at the beginning of Act II - Chapter 4, 1 minute in.
Will this fix by itself or I already have broken the achievements?

Please help. Thanks.

If you want to do it easily, use 2 controller split screen.

Use your main account as Jack on insane.

Use the guest account as Kait (or JD) on beginner.

jack cloaks automatically when you enter combat, so as long you dont touch him, he should not be hurt. there is a couple cases where u have to move jack out of the line of fire as soon as the combat starts, but its not that often.

Some people say this method doesnt work, but thats because they're affected by the progression glitch. It should work as long as you're not affected by the glich.

--------------------------
to make it even easier, use a single player on beginner difficulty. breeze through the chapter until the last check point.
then quit to lobby, sign in 2nd account, set main account to Jack on Insane and 2nd account to Kait on Beginner. Resume the game and complete the last check point to finish the chapter. this also counts as finishing that chapter on insane, believe or not.

I know this site has people looking for easy ways to do things and this may get negative votes because this is not a shortcut, but if you find the videos helpful then that is good enough for me!

To make it much easier for yourself to complete this difficulty, I recommend playing in co-op, where each player chooses the difficulty for themselves. But only those who choose "Madness" get the achievement.

If you have a second gamepad (for PC: keyboard mouse + gamepad), you can play through the entire game alone in splitscreen. To do this, I recommend going through the “crazy campaign” as Jack . He flies invisible most of the time and is ignored in firefights, but on rare occasions he should be removed from the line of fire. Otherwise, you just play as the second player on " easy ", and sometimes control Jack to open a door or hack a terminal. The only moment in the game where you have to control two players at the same time is the end of the third act, where you have to run away from the explosion. But if you have good sleight of hand, then this episode will not cause problems.
Also along the way you will receive the achievement "Universal Soldier" .

IMPORTANT: When playing in splitscreen, it is important that the host is on Insane Difficulty. And the “guest” ( *nickname*(1) ) can choose any difficulty.
