How to unlock the Brought a Knife to a Gun Fight achievement in Gears 5 - Definitive Guide
To put it simply, the best hive to unlock this achievement is The Clock. It's a fairly straight forward hive without many difficult moments. You can beat this hive with about any class regardless of their class level. The video provided goes how to unlock this achievement without shooting a shot.

To solo: brawler class as mentioned above. I don’t remember the exact cards but they were all health and damage mitigation, plus the very important stim on tackle kill.
You have to completely reload until you get a 1st half enemy combo that you can handle. I am not sure how first chapter enemies correlate to the second half. I failed indefinitely with drones on the second act, so reloaded until I got scions and rejects on first half. First half is just kiting and running to the end with tackles on any juveniles. The path is easy to figure out with trial and error.
Second half is hard as shit. I had scions and rejects again. I ran all the way to the exit to aggro all 5 scions, then kited them back to the area with the loot room. Not all will follow you all the way back to the room, but at least 3 should. Lock yourself in the loot room until the venom is almost on you. Then open the door with an immediate flash bang and sprint to exit. You should pass all 5 scions well before the exit. Close the door on the launch pad, then wait in the back. A rush of juvies seem to always get through and so did some rejects. When door is closed pop your ultimate to thrash the juvies. Then very carefully kite around the remaining rejects and damage them with tackle when you have a window to. Don’t execute any, the animation will make you a sitting duck. After patience you’ll win!

Warnings & Tips
1. If you do this with 2 or 3 people, then NONE of you can shoot. We thought only one person couldn't shoot but nope, ALL PLAYERS MUST NOT SHOOT OR THROW GRENADES!!!
2. "The Clock" is the easiest Hive on Master. The safe room is very easy to get to. On the second half, make sure you're working with Scions and Rejects. If you get drones on the second half, I'd recommend you to reroll your enemies again.
3. Bring useful classes. I brought a Combat Medic but it was useless. I recommend 2 Brawlers and 1 Protector.
4. You do NOT have to survive the hive. If you die but a teammate finishes the Hive, you all get the achievement.

UPDATE: The Coalition has changed the map THE TRAP. Doors now close automatically when passing through the doorways, making the map more difficult. THE CLOCK is now probably the easiest map to get this achievement on. I am leaving the original solution below as a reference.
ORIGINAL SOLUTION:
There are many different ways to do this achievement. Here is what worked for me.
Short Explanation:
Map: The Trap with two Brawlers and one Nomad.
Longer Explanation:
After much testing and comparing Mutators on the different Escape maps (from Operations 1 to 5), I narrowed the map down to one: The Trap.
List of Mutators for The Trap (all must be activated for this achievement):
• More Stumps
• More Health
• More Lethal
• Big Recoil
• Longer Recharge
• Execution Rules
• Ironman
Why The Trap?
• "Easy" mutators. Some of the mutators (Big Recoil, Execution Rules) do not affect this sort of run. Longer Recharge doesn’t really affect Nomad if you use the right skill cards. No stopping power mutator to slow down your Brawlers.
• Enemies: No Carriers. No Swarmak. No Wardens. No Poppers. No Bastions. Few scions. Most difficult enemies are Stumps (which are slow) and Scions.
• Slow venom means there is no rush and we can't be forced into a choke point where enemies can mow us down.
• A few grenades are available (which can't be thrown, but can be planted)
• Few choke points. Most of the map is wide open, which is beneficial to Brawlers that need space to run around.
Preferred classes:
• Brawler (2)
• Nomad
Brawler Skill Cards (we had a level 19 and level 20 Brawler):
• Perk Up
• Soothing Warmth
• All the Glory
• Torch Tackle
• Damage Dash
Tips for playing as a Brawler:
• One Brawler should use their Ultimate right after the decontamination room against the Drones and Salvo Scions.
• Other Brawler should use their Ultimate in the large room right before the exit.
• Tackle, roll backward, and tackle again.
• Leave downed enemies for the Nomad to execute if their Ultimate needs a recharge.
• Trade kills as necessary between the two Brawlers so that you each have your Ultimate at the appropriate time.
Nomad Skill Cards (our Nomad was level 16):
• Execution Shield (important: change your Boltok execution to Gears 2 curb stomp. I believe this is the shortest execution (approximately 3.26 seconds)
• Faze
• Terror
• Lifeline
• Menace
Tips for playing as a Nomad:
• Chain your executions/Fears. When you execute an enemy or use your Ultimate, it sends surrounding enemies into Fear. Melee and execute these enemies to recharge your Ultimate and again send surrounding enemies into Fear.
• Execute 3 or 4 Rejects on the left side at the beginning (if you walk slowly you can sneak up on them) until you get your Ultimate. Leave the remaining rejects for the Brawlers (Brawlers receive stim when they tackle-kill enemies)
• Areas to use Ultimate (Y button): the middle of the large room on the left with a Stump, right after the first group of Rejects (the team should kill and execute all of these enemies). The room immediately before the decontamination chamber (approach from the right side, clear the room, open the door, hit your Ultimate and run past the enemies). The area right before the exit (once again, hit your Ultimate and run past the enemies).
• Be a distraction for the enemies. If a Stump is aiming at the Nomad, it makes it easier for the Brawlers to tackle the enemy.
• Leave the Stim pickups for the Brawlers. They are taking the brunt of the damage.
General Tips for this map/achievement:
• No one can fire any shots. If anyone in your group fires any shots, the achievement won’t pop. This means melee hits and grenade tags/plants (B button) only.
• You must play on Master difficulty.
• Achievement is much easier with higher level characters with leveled up Skill Cards.
• When you close the hive, hide behind cover or to the far left/right of the doors so you don’t get mowed down.
• Pace yourself. The venom is fairly slow. Give yourself a few extra seconds to recharge your Ultimate before going into difficult locations.
• Stay fairly close together. You will need to revive each other and you don’t want to go off a one-way “cliff” and not be able to get back up to revive your teammate.
• Communication is key. Using a microphone/headset makes this much easier.
• Attack/execute enemy stragglers to recharge your Ultimate(s).
• Your leaderboard time doesn’t matter for this achievement. You just need to survive.
Good luck!
