Given how glitchy the achievement tracking is on the public playlist I thought I'd try an easier alternative. I only had 1/5 despite having 7 wins logged in my tour of duty but I was able to get the remaining 4 I needed in custom games.

Select the following from the main menu

VERSUS --> CUSTOM --> LAN GAME --> HOST GAME

Press

on the GAME SETUP box in the lobby to change the game options

Game Setup
Game Mode: ARCADE DEATHMATCH

Arcade Deathmatch Options
Fill with Bots: ON
Bot Difficulty: BEGINNER
Rounds to Win: 1
Round Score: 10
Execution Rules: OFF
Respawn Time: 10
DBNO Time: 15
Friendly Fire: OFF

Press

to go back to the lobby then

to start the match. You should see progress on the achievement tracker after each match.

Note it looks like you need to win 5 matches while in the custom game lobby, which might explain why some people aren't seeing the achievement tracker update. E.g. if your achievement is already at 40% (2/5) you will still need to win 5 matches before leaving the lobby.

Note you can lock all the slots on the opposition team, which gives you an instant win since there are no enemies to kill when the match starts.

Hmm, not sure why it isn't tracking for you. It's possible they may update the game to prevent using custom games for this achievement but as of now it's still working for me. I just played one match on a second (silver) account, which unlocked the achievement for playing a match of Arcade and progressed this achievement to 20% (1/5 wins).

I was at 40% and 7+ Arcade wins. Started this and the tracked did not go up till my 3rd game. Finished 2 more and popped the achievement. I wonder if the game is restarting the tracking at 0%.

That might be a reason why the tracker does not go up for some people?

I didn't have that issue, I only did 3 LAN matches and got the achievement, so it obviously counted two previous wins I got playing online.

They may have removed the loot boxes but it looks like the RNG is still there, it just switched to the achievements.

I think you're partly right, you can't exit the lobby, or the tracker resets to zero again. However, it's not 5 wins in a row, just a TOTAL of wins while staying in the same lobby.

The achievement popped for even after many losses!

I used this method and the achievement didn't track at all. I already had one win tracked before going into the Lan Lobby and after 4 games the achievement popped.

You can actually lock all the slots on the swarm team and it will instantly give you the win because you have no enemies to kill upon entering the match - no need to even do anything ha!

This worked perfectly for me on 9/22/19. Add jayhelm's suggestion of locking swarm slots and the win pops upon loading. I did mine solo, locking my teams slots as well. Simply started match 5x without leaving lobby.

Great solution. I only wish that custom games counted toward the medals and not just achievements. I see no reason to play them otherwise as they don't count toward any in-game progression.

A quicker mode is to do Arcade Blitz. Just set the score limit to 50 and ring score to max (90) and each game goes for less than 1:30.

Blitz is faster. I tried to do the same map back to back and the tracker didn't update, so I recommend you change maps from match to match.

I think I had the same issue than Iceberg082006, so: use fill with bots = true, then lock all the slots on the opposition team, but don't lock slots in your own team. Then you can start and get the win as soon as the match start.

I guess no solution is safe from the Gears 5 glitches

I tried again on my second account and the first win didn't track either, it was still 20% (1/5). I then changed the round score from 10 to 15 and played again, and this time the win counted and my second account is now at 40% (2/5). It might be worth tinkering with the game options if it's not tracking.

@Iceberg082006 what game mode? I just tried CUSTOM ONLINE with both TEAM DEATHMATCH and ARCADE BLITZ, both had rounds to win set to 1. In both cases I was able to lock all opposition slots and win the match as soon as the countdown completed. This was with a single controller and account logged in.

The solution above works perfectly. I do want to add someone else's suggestion to it that worked for me.

In the comments section, jayhelm suggested locking swarm slots. Since there are no enemies to kill, the win pops right away.

I did mine solo, locking my team's slots as well. I got this achievement in a matter of minutes.

Make sure not to leave the lobby, and simply keep restarting the match 5x. The match win pops the moment u load since there are no enemies.

Viola! Take THAT glitchy Gears 5 achievements.

Not sure what the negative down votes are about but i've had no less than THREE, count them... THREE, hard won achievements that have not popped for me after much work, including the damn Ally's one.. so save ur judgy opinions because THAT is what isn't right. It's absolute BS that this game was released in the shape it was in. Dont want to hear it.

not sure about the negative votes, this solution works just fine. Maybe it's people who don't like workarounds, but this allowed me unlocking the achievement before the game turned off my xbox one x (it's virtually unplayable for me at this point) AAA game, Microsoft flagship game, and it doesn't run on the most powerful system available... unbelievable

That solution is spot on don't know why you have any negative votes.And do not leave the lobby as this glitchy achievement should be win 5 matches in the same lobby.Could not get the achievement to work when I was winning games on line.
