How to unlock the Battle-Hardened Gear achievement in Gears of War 2 - Definitive Guide

Level 50 is confirmed to take 625,387 experience points.

Note: Double xp has now permanently been added. This obviously cuts the xp needed in half and makes this achievement a walk in the park.

Edit: Guardian has been reduced from 91% to 83% over the Memorial Day weekend. Annex has also been reduced down to 23%.
Edit #3: Submission has now been reduced to 47% and Wingman has been increased to 110%.
Edit #4: TU5 made a lot of changes to the conversion ratios. The new ones are located below. It also added a permanent 250 point win bonus to the mix.

The up-to-date point ratios for each gametype are as follows:
Wingman: 1.18
Warzone: 1.0
Execution: 0.98
Guardian: 0.70
Submission: 0.38
KOTH: 0.25
Annex: 0.23

If you don't want to boost though, your best bet is Guardian or Wingman if you're good enough at it. Whatever you choose, stick with it and do your best to enjoy yourself.

About 95% of the players on here GLITCHED there Level 50 so the TA ratio is fucked up now.

Yup.

50 is more than possible by now though. I'm 48 and honestly, if I wasn't quite as busy lately, I would've been a 50 by now.

And even more aggravating than the ratio for level 50 being messed up is level 100 being screwed up. Honestly, no one in the world has it legitimately so it's really dumb how messed up the score is for that one.

i know i mean Level 50 takes 625K & Level 100 takes 7 mill, the highest level i think a human at this time could get too is probably a 65,

if there wasnt a Level 100 glitch then the Level 50 TA Ratio would be like 1000 TA & Level 100 would be like a 5000 lmao.

And I saw a level 69 earlier today in Guardian! He was good. Real good. =]

well im personally a level 55. almost a 56. like 4000XP so yeah dosnet take that long i have played so much lately.... :D

Ill be happy if i get to Level 60 by the end of the year,

I havent played Gears 2 in about a month so im taking the slow approach to getting to Level 100,

Im gonna start playing at least 4 hours each week soon though.

you may want to update this. With the new update, you now receive experience points from each wave you survive in Horde.
Points per round/wave:
Casual 100 pts
Normal 150 pts
Hardcore 200 pts
Insane 300 pts

It's been announced by EPIC that it's impossible to be a level 100 right now because the update hasn't been out long enough. Every single 100 that you see right now is a glither and should have their gamerscore reset.

Level 100 takes about 7 million XP apparently, that's ALOT of multiplayer. No way your getting there with Horde.

46 now:) I'm a little slow at this, coz I really enjoy multiplayer with my gf (level 42 now) on splitscreen, when she's not with me I don't want to play GoW that much:)

I reached level 50 long time ago (77 now) and have play many, many matches (mostly horde) on each of these maps but yet to earn the achievement. What am i missing?

@payday, i believe you actually need to finish the match, which on horde is only accomplished by completing levels 1- 50. try playing private matches on each of the four maps with these exact settings:

Warzone
Bot difficulty - casual
Number of bots - 1
Number of rounds - 1

once all 4 maps have been completed this way you will no doubt earn the weather outside is lethal achievement and quite probably this one too.

It's worth noting that (once you are level 50) you do not have to play a match on each of the maps in public games as stated in the achievement description.

I just unlocked the achievement playing local matches against a second controller signed in as guest, which was an unexpected bonus in my attempt to unlock Frigid Body Dynamics.

Playing horde online on each of the snowblind maps is sufficient to earn this achievement as I earned this without ever playing any other type of public match.

When it says Public match, which match type is that "Social" or "Ranked"?, and how select snowblind maps because it just drops me in any map?. thanks

i'd played all the snowblind maps on horde prior to reaching level 50 - i was playing a KotH match on one of the snowblind maps when i hit level 50 and the cheev popped... suprised me as i thought i'd need to play all 4 of the maps AFTER hitting level 50
presumably the same thing will happen for the VETERAN GEAR cheev when i hit level 100 :)
