Gears of War 2

Simply get to level 20 in multiplayer (49,655 XP).

Then get to wave 20 on hoard on the map Way Station. Any difficulty with any amount of people.

Tips:

I found it easier for the starting waves to have someone (depending on how many people you have) take each side and clear them out. Then for the harder waves just regroup at the top.

Now watch out though as on the later rounds in the room at the top there are 2 stair cases and enemies will come up there so always have a look out to make sure they are clean.

For those a little late to the gears of war franchise that maybe don’t want the hassle of creating a session or are just up for a challenge, this achievement is fairly manageable solo. This can be done in one sitting or multiple, just keep track of your last wave through the war journal > achievements. The initial spawn area is by far the best to do this in. Your only handicap is that there are no large ammo boxes in the entire map, just small ones. So make sure you take advantage of end of rounds to replenish ammo and pickup more Grenades. Ammo boxes are located next to each set of grenade spawns and on the top of the stairs just behind the mulched/flame thrower spawn. Rounds 7-10, 17-20 it is crucial to kill yourself some maulers and accumulate 2 boom shields. These will be used to block the 2 entrances to the spawn (doorway and the long corridor to the right). With these blocked the enemy’s will funnel to these 2 entrance points. Having a gorgon that can be picked up from the back right corner of the room behind the top of the stairs at the far end of the map will provide some extra firepower for later rounds and the ability to replenish ammo from fallen kantus. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THIS GUIDE IS TO REMEMBER TO PICK UP (hold x) AND PLACE BACK DOWN (Left trigger + A) BOTH OF YOUR BOOMSHIELDS BEFORE THEY DISAPPEAR SHORTLY AFTER STARTING A NEW ROUND. These 2 shields will stop everything that funnels towards you expect for kantus, drones, cyclops, and sires. Bloodmounts, maulers, grinders, tickers and wretches will continually run into or be frozen by the 2 shields. Happy hunting

Tips:
1. You do NOT have to do this in 1 sitting.
Just remember what wave you last finished and start on the one you have not completed.
I recommend using Google Sheets to track any Gears achievements.
2. Understand that the map layout is just an upside-down U shaped map.
There are grenades/inks on either side of the map near spawn, snipers/torques in the downstair rooms, and Boltoks/Gorgons right above.
3. (Gorgon Pistol + Boom Shield) is an overpowered combination.
You can get the Gorgon Pistol on every other wave at the top of the map, right above the Sniper/Torque Bow on either side.
You can (unfortunately) only get the Boom Shield from Maulers that appear on Wave 7-10 or 17-20.
If you plan to solo this, make sure you start on Wave 10 and work your way up until you see Maulers so that you can start that wave and get a Boom Shield to help you clear the rest of the waves.
I got stuck on Wave 16 and I never encountered a Mauler until Wave 18 so I had someone help me out on Wave 16/17 because I desperately needed the help (you've been warned).
