How to unlock the Photojournalist achievement in Gears of War 2 - Definitive Guide

Play a game in training mode and when you die and are a spectator press B to take a picture. Go to the unlockables part and submit photo....achievement unlocked!

I have just finished roughly everything on Gears 1 apart from Seriously... And looking at this just makes me want to stop at 1 and never start 2. I haven't even started it yet and I signed the petition straight away. God help us. Please Microsoft see some sense.

I checked gearsofwar.com forums about this achievement last night... The administrator of the forum said that they tried to fix it with sybarite in judgement but they couldn't... Very bad news...

I hate unobtainables but To be fair this achievement was obtainable for more or less six years so yeah considering many EA games like FIFA and NBA etc end up with unobtainables within a year or sometimes less and they are NEVER fixed. At least they have fixed this. So put the dummy back in guys wink

Do any of you guys know who we can contact about this? I haven't started the game but would really like to. Also, the people that aren't able to get this, are people starting the game back in late October. Clearly something is wrong in their end. I'm really hoping they did not take down the site where you upload the images without giving notice.... facepalm

It's still possible to get this achievement as of April 19, 2017. I finally got it after at least 10 failed attempts. So if your photo fails to upload at first, be persistent! I'm glad I didn't give up on it.

I think it stopped working... As of January 12, 2018, i'm trying to upload a photo and it still keeps popping an error message saying : "The photo failed to upload. Please try again." Such a shame... I will not start this game.

I see someone unlocked this achievement yesterday and another today, yet it's not working for me?

Also, all my screenshots are black, could that have anything to do with it? I'm playing via my Series X but I do still have a 360 and the original disc.

Heybunny, those people you saw are cheaters. You can tell by looking at their activity feeds and seeing how they are starting numerous games and completing them the same day and that online achievements they have are unlocked offline.

This achievement is still discontinued.

As of Feb 5, 2024, I can’t obtain. I am aware it’s unobtainable.

Something to note however is I wouldn’t necessarily hold out hope just because you see list of recent players achieving it.

As said above, if you view their account, they have entire games 100% including online achievements with no online date.

Make of that as you will but the fact is this is unobtainable.

Side rant: highly unlikely they’re cheating if there is an online date. Don’t make hackusations, there are plenty of games you can nearly 100% in a day/week/month IF you go in with a plan. Including Skyrim/minecraft believe it or not. Some of us just have too much free time.

I dont think so. If you click on their profille it says "Unlocked offline" and if you view them on xbox they dont have an Unlocked date on the achievement. Its probably a bug or a glitch in the system.

Use YouTube or Google to find that out, I'm not explaining on how to use it because it defeats the purpose of achievement hunting. If the coalition could just fix it then majority of people wouldn't haven't to resort to cheating to unlock it

Honestly, and I don’t know, this is just my intuition speaking, they probably would prefer that people use Horizon to unlock it, so that they wouldn’t have to fix it. There’s a part of me that thinks TC really resents having to refer back to the older games, even though they are under their purview.

Once you die, doesn't matter what game mode. Take a picture by pressing B.

Go to the main menu.

Go down to War Journal.

Photos.

Go to any photo and press Y.

Achievement unlocked.

Take a picture when you’re dead and in spectator mode, then later go to your war journal and upload it.

Easy, doesn't matter how good the picture is, and FYI my 1st picture failed to upload, my second try worked fine, achievement unlocked.

as of right now the photojournalist achievement is active again. i do not know if its for good or limited so do this ASAP.

in the menus go to the war journal and select photos.
then go to the photo you want to upload and press (Y)
few seconds later achievement.

Start horde mode with a second controller. Choose the map security and walk through the lasers to kill yourself. Then when you're dead and ghost cam comes up just press B. :)


They decided to re-upload the website where photos are uploaded so this cheevo is now once again possible! :)

In any online game take a picture while we are dead, the ghost camera mode is easier, once the game, we go to the Main Menu and get into War Diary, we go to the photo section and select any now we give up and jump achievement.

the achievement is achievable at the moment I recommend the team enjoy and get it before it is incontestable to unlock this achievement you must enter the horde mode or in any other way other than the canpaing and take a picture while you return to the game later that you died

after you have taken the photo go to the menu and then in the war journal then in pictures ai just click on Y in the photo to upload

Gears of War 2 - Photojournalist Achievement (Submitted a spectator photo)

Once you die, doesn't matter what game mode. Take a picture by pressing B.

Go to the main menu.

Go down to War Journal.

Photos.
Go to any photo and press Y.

You can do this in any game mode, as soon as you start looking for an enemy and die for him, that way you will be sent to the spectator screen and you can press cn_B to take a picture, after that go back to the main menu and go until War Journal> Photos, press cn_Y on the photo to upload and the achievement will be unlocked.
