How to unlock the All for One, One for All achievement in Gears of War 3 - Definitive Guide

Found a really good way to earn this achievement. It requires you to maintain 10x multiplier in 10 chapters (doesn't have to be different chapters) in Arcade Mode.

Load up Act II chapter VII on casual or normal, as soon as you take control of your character run to the turret at the back-right of the ship. Shoot down the 2 gas barges that pop right in front of the turret. Now head over to the front of the ship, a reaver will pop on the right side, shoot it down with your lancer. Another reaver will pop to the left of the ship, shoot it down with your lancer as well.

Next part is a little bit tricky and might take a few tries to get the timig right, but grab the turret on the front-right of the ship. You'll see a gas barge pretty far away, wait till it's closer and turns a bit to your left. Shoot it down, aim a little in front and above it.

As soon as it dies, head to the front-left turret, you'll see another gas barge heading straight for you, wait untill it's pretty close because this kill will give you the 10x multiplier and if you get hit by any of the reavers flying around after your gas barge kill you will lose your 10x multiplier and there will be no chance to regain it, if this happens you must reload your last checkpoint.
A cutscene will play shortly after the last gas barge and as soon as you get control of your character you must take cover by the edge of the ship so you don't get hit by any of the lights.

This chapter takes about 2:45 to complete.

Check out my video for it.

Did this just 1 minute ago and it works, either you are shooting the last barge too early and get shot by a Reaver or you get hit by the queens light.

This. This is awesome. I was originally doing Act 2: Ch 1 (Shipwreck, I believe) until I came across your solution. ~2"45' to complete = a lot better than doing Shipwreck over and over again :P.

Fantastic solution Nikke84. Thanks! It is important to stress you need to shoot the big floating creatures, not the ammo crates. You get way more points by doing that and it is way easier. Also try to shoot enemies when they are close for better scoring. I always try to have a 7x multiplier by the time the 2nd reaver is dead. Here is the approximate multipliers I get by doing this after each enemy (casual difficulty).

Barge 1 - 3.6x
Barge 2 - 6x
Reaver 1 - 6.7x
Reaver 2 - 7..0 to 7.4x
Barge 3 - 8.75 to 9.1x
Barge 4 - 10x

You may as well tell everyone to do this in arcade mode with ammo and friendly fire mutators on if they have them. This also counts towards all your arcade points and is good for the "X chapters without dying" medal.

Great solution. One thing I'd add is that after you destroy the last gas bag, run behind the wall that Baird and Cole are hiding behind - Myrrah cannot damage you from there.

If you have Super Reload mutator, you can use it to murderise a few extra Reavers as they fly-by to make it even easier!

If you're going for seriously 3.0 the points are not gonna matter much. I got the King of Cog medal and I still have to play another 250 chapters. Aim at finishing chapters as fast as possible.

Worked great. Only failed the first time, after that smooth sailing. On the last barge as the Reavers pass its definitely important to wait till you stop getting hit markers from the side and from the rear before destroying the final barge.

Like someone else said, it can be a little tricky to get the full X10 every time. I got a "full" 9 lots of times, just short of the 10. I would add to your excellent solution that using super reload mutator, empty the clip immediately at the start and get an active reload, then proceed as you suggest but when it comes time to shoot down the two reavers, wait and shoot down a THIRD reaver that flies past JUST after the third barge launches boomshots. Shoot that third reaver, take out the barge ASAP and by the time you get to the last barge you should already have a x9 multiplier.....that extra reaver just makes the whole thing easier to get a x10

I already have the achievement, but I've been working on getting this Onyx as well as other Arcade medals. My method is follows:
Mutators: Infinite Ammo + Super Reload + Your Choice
Difficulty: Casual (for whatever reason, I found doing this with a 2nd person on Insane difficult to get the X10 even though we killed everything except barge #3 at times)
I also sign in a guest and put them immediately into the cover straight in front of them to further help myself get the Number 1 Medal(nice thing is this location is safe from Myra).
Anyways, guest is in cover, empty your clip and get a Super reload before the first barge drops down. Destroy Barge 1 & 2 from the back right Boomshot Turret, then make your way to the Red Control Pannel. Look over the guest's head for Reaver 1, and then look to the ship's left for Reaver 2. From here, unlike everyone else, I ignore Barge #3 as I cant seem to hit the thing.
Another set of reavers will come, shoot the left as soon as the reticle turns red and then swiftly go for the one that goes to your right.
After that will be 2 more reavers and the final barge. Shoot down the reaver that goes to your left first, turn around and wait for the other reaver to circle around the left side of the ship, then immediately hop onto the turret and take down the barge.
I am able to kill all the reavers with a single super reload clip. I'm also at about X9.3 before shooting down the last barge.
I take cover over by where the guest is, not sure if it is really necessary, but I do know that if you get hit, it messes things up, so I like to be on the safe side. Please Note that the cutscene will pull both you and your guest out from cover.

I agree with (Ben Online NL) instead of shooting down the reavers with you lancer use the boomshot turrents to shoot them down sometimes you will get the hail mary ribbon that will work for the big explosions mutator as well

To speed this up a bit, since the menus and loading times are the most significant waits when grinding onyx medals, you can hit start and Restart Chapter during the cutscene where the gas barge is crashing. If you'll notice on Nikke's video, it still says "Act II (Touchdown)" when he pauses at the end, so restarting the chapter puts you right back where you want to be. I'd still recommend waiting for the "Checkpoint" to finish all the same though (just wait until Baird starts saying "Oh it'll slow right down", the checkpoint is done by then).

I did this on Hardcore with the Super Reload, No Ammo, and Enemy Regeneration mutators, for a total of a 1.90x multiplier. One run takes 3:30, including all loading and idling time as described above, and you get approximately 175,000 points per run. You'll finish the King of COG onyx long before anything else -- I currently have 6.5 million of the required 7.5 million total points for onyx, and have only 35 toward Force Multiplier for a silver.

I found that on the last turret if you stay on it after killing the last Barge, you wont lose multiplier if you get hit by the Reaver.

By TheGame004 on 20 May 2023 00:55
Just want to add you can actually let the final gas barge collide with yours before you kill it that way the reavers will already be in back of it and flying away when you do thus eliminating your chances to get hit by reavers

I have found a better and easier way to earn this medal than the above two.

LOAD UP ACT 3 CHAPTER 1 on NORMAL IN ARCADE

This is when your defending the fort, basically just sit on the turrets at the first gate killing the locust till they breach the gate, when they get past that gate, lancer/ frag the locust in the courtyard, then after they get past there just sit on the turret on the left looking towards the gate and just mow them down. - Easy 10x, takes about 5 miins but your guranteed a very easy 10x.

Also if your quick enough it's possible to not even go to the last wave, if you kill everyone in the courtyard, including the maulers before they reach the second gate then the chapter will end here with an even easier and quicker 10x, so you don't have do the bit where you shoot the tank if your quick enough

Another positive fact! If you play the whole thing through on normal diffculty then you can make between 400k-450k points, thus making the onyx for 7.5 mill points in arcade a walk in the park! :P

Have fun!

nope in can be done by yourself..are you sure your not getting hit? Don't take too much damage and you'll be at 10x at the second gate.

By Barad 007 on 28 Sep 2011 11:50
It's keeping it at 10x that can be tricky, found it dropping to 9x at the end while waiting for the tank to prop, trick is to get back to 10x before blowing it up. Also don't use 2 players as the 2nd controller if unattended will take damage and drop the multiplier.

Took me 3 goes to get a 10x because of just going for the tank at the end and not killing a few grunts before I shot it. Good solution most consistent way for a 10x I think.

Ok think I can save a minute or 2 on this, at the start run to the far end of the level and man the turret , and start building the X then when the main gate goes run back and clear out the court yard, but when the maulers appear let them advance and breach the 2nd gate. Once that's down head for the next turret, use it if you dont have a 10x by now. Once you do sit in cover and when the boomers appear let them blow up the last gate. Then wait for the tank to drop and you're done.

Definitely a lot easier then doing 2-7 over and over (and a lot more fun). Just a note in case no one realizes it, if you want to finish off the level by killing all the maulers before they breach the 2nd gate, you do have to go through 3 waves of them. They come in 4 at a time with 2 grinders behind them. Once they are all dead the next wave starts to slowly walk in. Once all 3 waves are gone the chapter will end.

I found something else out about this method which saved me a LOAD of time. (bear in mind I had the super reload mutator on to breeze through loads of locust)

After I finished this chapter, as soon as the screen went blank (but before it says checkpoint reached) I pressed pause and selected restart from last checkpoint... this put me at the bit just after the catapult breeches the gate... I then took down the enemies & 4 waves of maulers and just kept repeating... took about 2 minutes each time!

By Pukey UK on 04 Oct 2011 01:44
^^^ Wouldn't that create the problem I had with Act 2 Ch 6 where a restart to the ammo storage checkpoint meant 1x instead of the 5 or 6 you carry through from the first section. Lacking Mad Skillz and the reload mutator I doubt I could get from 1 to 10. Plus the first gate gives massive kill counts and exp. Just sayin.

Anyway thanks so much iSHOCKWAVE 1993. I got the lousy 10 pts after wasting an afternoon trying the Act 2 solutions. This is guaranteed and gives between 150-250k per round. Much better overall. Keep pounding the Boomers with the turret and LT zoom in the third room. Stay on it after they breach the garage and you can easily regain the 10x if you do get knocked down. Baird or Dom will stay close by.

By Xavygravy on 20 Dec 2011 02:40
First, great solution. Playing it as described (private, solo, no second controller, normal) takes about 10 to 15 minutes, so not very quick... However there is plenty of room for recovery. One time I even died while on the 2nd turret (at the 3rd door) and still got my 10x back. In fact I even tried reloading the last checkpoint right after the stats screen (you need to be quick) and got to ~9.5x, so doing this from the checkpoint may also be possible (as I was only averaging about 350k points on the chapter, not the 400k advertised).

Second, where are the boomshots? I found the one by the right (looking out) outer turret in a corner to the right, but can't find the second. As marksman3698 said, having both would be a huge help.

Thumbs up from me.

This method, including Pukeys modification to only replay the mauler waves after the catapult breaches the first gate, is awesome! Way easier than act2 ch7.
Only thing is that every now and then the enemies get stuck, stop appearing... Anyone knows how to 'nudge' them back on track?

I know it's an old game/solution/system lol but the location of the Boomshot(s) really oughta be put in. That, the One Shot, and mutators make killing everything after the first breach fairly easy.

By BloodngunsMrphy on 01 Sep 2015 23:18
Sorry but I don't get this at all, if you want a guaranteed 10x multiplier, without doing the Gas barge chapter, then this is not the best solution.

Act II Chapter I Shipwreck will net you a guaranteed 10x every time because killing the Brumak at the end, with just a few shots of your LongShot to the guns, with always end you with 10x. It takes around 7-8 mins, at least 4 minutes quicker than Act III Chapter I, and it is also much less taxing on your wrists.

Also, if you do decide to waste more time doing Unbreakable, you should set it to Casual, the multiplier is not affected and it's much easier to get the multiplier up and get shot less.

I'll jump on the game later and try and see where that second boomsht is placed but I'm pretty sure there's only one, but you can pick up more ammo for it in that same corner I think from what I remember?

As for the 400k comment in my solution, I may ether edit that or see where I got that figure from. Bear with me and thanks for the thumbs up.

No problem... I should have clarified that each run took me about 10 to 15 minutes, so multiply that for the number of chapters needed for total time. The replay from checkpoint... If mutators (I had none) and/or the difficulty (I was on normal) affect how quick you get to 10x, then I'm pretty sure you could play it a little harder and actually reload the last checkpoint (quickly, right from the very end of the stats screen) and not have to do the chapter from the start each time... Kinda like Nikke84's solution for
Gears of War 3First Among EqualsThe First Among Equals achievement in Gears of War 3 worth 99 pointsEarn the Silver "Number 1" medal.

Oh, and for a few extra points, don't shoot the fuel tank at the end... Several more enemy stragglers appear, and if you are careful (and not in a hurry), you can shoot them instead of the tank... This also might help further if not at 10x yet, as I did it several times. In fact once all enemies are cleared, you don't even need to shoot the tank, the chapter will end automatically.

If your not worrying about the points so much and just need this achievement or the medal onyx you can do it with big explosions on and super reload on and have 2 friends help there will be two boomshots in this chapter save the boomshots and grenades for when they breach the first gate us your grenades first clear out any remaining locus and when the maulers start to come out use your boomshot and you can finish the chapter in about 2 minutes 30 seconds and then just do what ishockwave 1993 said

Other way to get this is, is at Act II, Chapter 6: Airborne. Best played on Casual or Normal.
Once you've killed the first serie of Theron Guards, you will enter the stock of Dizzy with lots of ammo.
Pick up the Boomshot and Oneshot.
Go upstairs and wait until the Beastriders arrive.
Shoot them with the Oneshot, one at a time.
When you run out of ammo, use the Boomshot to get the other kills, also on the Theron Guards.
Once you've done that, normally you need to have 10x Multiplier.

Sorry no video to go along with it, but I think my solution is an improvement on the barge method. Follow along with me and you'll find you agree. The only requirement is that you have Super Active Reload. This is easy to get in casual bot matches and will only take you about 2 hrs if you have zero kills with all the starting weapons.

I was having a dick of a time doing the barges, until I figured something out. Don't bother shooting at the third barge. You know, the one that comes up from the starboard bow (That's front right of the ship to you land lubbers).

Here's what you do. Proceed normally by shooting the first two barges down. Then shoot down the two reavers. Empty out your clip for a fully loaded Super Active, and wait a few seconds. In the distance, off to the left, you will see two reavers. Wait until your crosshairs turn red, then shoot them. They should die with two or three bullets. Now at this point, you can shoot at that one hard to kill barge if you want (I usually did, just for the points) but if you choose not to, it doesn't matter! You don't need it!! Don't waste too much time, though, or you'll miss the next part. If I missed after one full barrage, I would skip the reload and let the barge blow itself up.

If you're quick enough, you should see the next two reavers coming from the same direction. If not, turn around. To your left (Still the starboard side, folks :P) you'll see them fly by. Shoot them! It doesn't matter if you hit both, as long as you get ONE of them. You may be able to miss both, but I do not think so.

This will have you at a X10 multiplier. You'll probably get shot by the last barge, but it doesn't matter because you're about to blow him up and get it back.

Now, here's where you save yourself a ton of time. Press start as soon as the cutscene starts with the barge crashing. Restart chapter. Bang! You're back at the beginning, with no need to go back to the menu and waste all that precious time loading.

Each go through will take you about 3 minutes, and it's a guarantee that you will get Force Multiplier, instead of the hit and miss crap with the third barge. Don't forget that if you still need the Number 1 medal, plug in that guest controller for some easy fun. No need to even move the guest controller, as him getting hit a bit won't stop you from getting Force Multiplier. Just make sure it's wired so it doesn't pause the game on you :P

Hope it helps, guys. Good luck!!

Glad I could be of service. I was in the same boat. I could always get it on 3-1, but that takes like 8 minutes, and the barges are really hard to get 100% of the time.

This is a pain in the arse! It is quicker than the Act II chapter I method, but at least that one is guaranteed 10x every time. The problem is that I keep missing a reaver or getting an assist and I only get to 9 and a half or less. I've tried nine times now and got one 10x. So all-in-all it's actually taking longer this way.

I switched to Hardcore and put Friendly Fire and no ammo pickups on, I don't know if those mutators even help, but they can't hurt. I am now getting 10x more often, but still only 7 out of my last 10 attempts. Maybe I'll get it down with more practise, cheers.

Easiest way to get Force Multiplier onyx medal. It doesn't take more than 3 minutes. Load up Act 3 Ch. 1 solo on casual put on super reload and infinite ammo. When you get to the second gate just keep kills Locust till Maulers & Grinders come out. You must NOT let Maulers destory the gate. When screen with points press start button fast and choose repeat last chceckpoint. If you forget to press start button it will re-write over your checkpoint.

Thanks to my friend ParoXysm QC for make this video.

All above solutions are good ways of getting a 10x multiplier, although I've found doing it on Arcade, Act 3, Chapter 1 to be the best way. What all the above solutions fail to mention is that you need to FINISH the chapter with your 10x multiplier or you will not get credit for the medal. In other words, if you get a 10x multiplier during the chapter but only have a 9x multiplier when the chapter ends, you will not get credit for it towards the "Force Multiplier" medal. Personally, I got this achievement playing Arcade, Act 3, Chapter 1 on normal 10 times. Piece of cake!

Here is a video i made showing how to farm the 10x multiplier for the achievement and the medal, select arcade, act 2, chapter 6 Airborne, casual makes it much easier. And because i wasn't paying attention this video doesn't show the achievement popping for me.

ACT 3 CHAPTER 1
NORMAL difficulty
ARCADE
Super Reload mutator

This is where you defend the fort. You can do this solo in ARCADE. The other character will just stand there as you play, no worries.

Run upstairs to the first wall and using active reload kill everything, making sure to stay in cover. Once they breach the first gate, run back, pick up the two ammo boxes, and from cover on the side continue to take out the enemy. Once the drones are killed, you have to wipe out 3-4 waves of maulers and grinders. I used my lancer the entire time with active reload, and easily killed all of them before they breached the second gate.

I ended the chapter with 10x multiplier, and the second gate was never breached. This gave me approx. 140k in points.

Now here's the trick...as soon as the end of the chapter screen comes up and your points are calculated...there is a momentary pause before it will go to the next chapter and it saves the checkpoint. During that pause, while your points are still up on the screen, hit the start button and select "Reload last checkpoint"

Your points and 10x multiplier will count, and you can play the chapter from right after the first wall is breached. As soon as it reloads, grab the ammo boxes and prepare for the second defensive position. It saves a LOT of time, and you'll knock this achievement out in a hurry.

Okay so all the other ways seem pretty good but heres my solution its not quite rinse and repeat and I'll even throw in an easter egg.

Load up as a private game act 1 ch 1 hard and set mutators at super reload(easiest way of getting this is to set up some bot match's on casual you'll soon get the mutator).

So a tip' don't get involved ' taking hits will lower the multiplier.
Keep in cover as much as possible and fight from distance with the lancer and hammerburst and hit your active reload as much as possible.

After your first major firefight in Dom's tomatoes patch, go up to the 4 large air ducts(2 on left and 2 on right of the deck),the 2 on the right are under the stairway you go up,then standing in front of each duct push up on the joystick and Marcus should say 'hello' down each duct, give it a moment and a chicken appears of the last duct, shoot it until cloud of petals erupts in midair and your multiplier should go up from about x4 to x6.5 or x7(if you want to see what really happens to the chicken do this on normal but be warned you may lose all your multiplier doing it).So then continue on mission and you should have x10 multiplier before you have to put the fires out below deck .

The second mission to load is also act1 but this time with Cole in ch3 this time it can be done on normal(but whats the fun in that)again stay back don't get involved and kill everything from cover try not to let the a.i. steal kills.
At the end of the mission kick all the doors open with the loader and stay inside at the end only pushing forward to instigate battle and then pulling back and fighting from the doorways don't forget there's a boomshot in the other office next to the loader and with super reload you get 2 shots for the price of 1 and double the power of each shot,by the end you should easily have a x10 multiplier .

Your multiplier goes up faster the quicker and more accurate your kills are but that does not alawys mean head shots ,go for the glowy bits and when drudges mutate to have more limbs and snakeheads take them out first, more points bigger multiplier (hope this helps)

Playing arcade campaign, you must have a X10 MULTIPLIER as you COMPLETE THE CHAPTER, and it must be done 10 times.

- The easiest chapter to do this is on: Act 3, Chapter 1.
* My weapon choice was: turrets, lancers, grenades, one shots, and boomshots.

At the second gate:
- there is a pallet of propane swinging in the air above the area.
- make sure no boomers or grinders make it up to the door and you can end the chapter here.

All for One, One for All.

This achievement requires you too maintain the max multiplier of 10x all the way to the end of an arcade chapter, and finish said chapter still on the 10x multiplier. 10 times over :)

I found the easiest most consistent way to do this is Act 2 Chapter 1, Shipwreck.

I have made a video of the run through of the chapter showing the achievement pop. On this run through the chapter takes me 8 minutes 5 seconds to complete.

I chose to play on casual difficulty and the only mutators i had on were super reload and flower blood.

My three main tips for the chapter are:

1. Dont take damage! This is the most important. Damage is what lowers your multiplier. Dont take damage and your multiplier wont go down...

2. At the very start of the level there is a lancer on the floor. Often, because of the chapters introductory captions and what not, you wont see the icon pop up to show you its there and it is easy to miss.

3. The second and final Brumak. Be sure to have a full super reloaded clip ready. Go where i go on the video and be sure to concentrate all fire onto the gun on his head. Once you have destroyed this turn around and pick off the two grenadiers. Then turn back and proceed to fire everything you have in the Brumaks face.

You will have this achievement in no time.

Thanks!

Click on the video below for a detailed Achievement Guide that will show you the easiest and most successful way of getting these two Achievements. Enjoy!

Recommended Difficulty: Casual

"First Among Equals": This Achievement requires you to get the Silver "Number 1" Medal. You have to come in first in an Arcade match 60 times. This takes long, but you'll get the Achievement. This can be done the quickest on ACT I - Prologue. You need either a second controller plugged in, or a friend helping you. When you have either of those, host a Private Arcade Campaign match to get started. View the video for more information.

"All for One, One for All": This Achievement requires you to get the Bronze "Force Multiplier" Medal. This medal means that you have to get the highest score in Arcade which is x10. The easiest map to do this in the game is on ACT II - Chapter 7. You do not need Xbox Live, or a Second Controller to get this Achievement. View the video for more Information.

This is similar to a previously mentioned technique, but there is an optimisation that can get you > 500K per playthrough (my highest score has been 590K), meaning you should be able to get the King of Cog Onyx medal in 15 play throughs, as long as you have a couple of mutators.

Difficulty: Hardcore
Mutators: Super reload & no ammo pick-up
Time: 12 minutes. Score > 500K.

Those settings give a total multiplier of 1.85. Start at Act 3 Chapter 1.

At the start immediately switch your gnasher for a hammerburst from the weapons rack, and then switch back to the lancer, empty the entire clip, get the active reload and then pick up lancer ammo from the rack., you've now got two full weapons and a perfect reload. Head up the left set of stairs.

Stay in cover near the turret, pop your head out and shoot at some grubs, when the reavers come you probably want to move away from the wall altogether but with active reload on they drop quickly. Get rid of the grinders and mop up the resistance, also take care to shoot at the grapplers. When the siege beast arrives you should be on about a x8 multiplier already.

Fallback to the observation area, use the rest of your lancer ammo and switch to the hammerburst, I recommend using the iron sight when the maulers arrive. It takes two shots with a super-reload hammerburst to drop a mauler or a grinder at the head, and as we are sideways on to them it's nice and easy. You shuold have enough ammo to easily kill the first 3 waves of Maulers/Grinders.

After 3 waves immediately fall back to the garage. Grab a reload of lancer/hammerburst ammo from the weapons rack, and go back up the left stairs. The next Mauler wave should break through by now, so now just stay in cover and pick off the maulers, pick off the grubs and pick off the boomers.

Finally, just before blowing up the fuel tank, make sure your multiplier is x10, if not, there should still be a grub or two to get it back up. Blind fire at the tank, boom, job done.

Note that Hardcore is still fairly simple as long as you remain in cover, the only real danger is being clattered by a reaver. I wouldn't bother with insase though, it's a bit random and popping out of cover can cost you a fatal headshot occasionally.

Load up Act 2, Chapter 7 on Campaign (or Arcade Campaign) and retain a 10x multiplayer 10 times to get this achievement. Just copy what I do, and it’s fairly easy to get. Do it on casual difficulty. No mutators needed.

This chapter can easily be completed in under 3 minutes.
