How to unlock the Foreshadowing achievement in Gears of War 3 - Definitive Guide

This actually is possible to boost with a little patience and borrowing some techniques we have all used from the past...

Minimum Requirements:
* 4 people with a guest account signed in (substitute live players as needed), All 8 people can be in a party chat
* Split into (2) parties of (4) people each (all party members should prefer each other to increase likelihood of matching
*All players should set default characters to Minh / RAAM
* Both hosts search for standard quick match in the playlist ALPHA - This is a 8 player game mode that you can still select what character you spawn as, and has minimal people playing

Experience
We did this last night with great success. With fewer than 350 people playing the game type worldwide, our odds were pretty fair of getting matched up.

We had to actually do this twice as the achievement glitched out for me the first run. Both times we matched up in under 15 minutes of searching. Both times one of the parties landed a room with all bots, and the other party continued to search until landing in that room.

Once your in, your can trade matches ad infinitum until everyone gets there execution kills. Shouldn't take more than two matches.

*whitedragon40k makes a good point: We did use two hosts from the same region, same as Gears 2.

*Nice Add from fallouthirteen to speed matching up: If one group does get put against all bots, the host of that group can leave the game (thus breaking up the party) and re-join session in progress on one of the people still in the game. Since the party was broken up, the next match will split up the group (some members on both teams). From there just have the remaining people join session in progress on the people in the game and there you go...

Do you need two hosts from the same region for this like you did for Gears 2?

Didn't test it, but we approached under that assumption. We had one guy from Hong Kong, the other 3 from North America, and we used to NA hosts.

Yeah thanks for all the help last night Sn4k30909... I didn't personally think that getting matched up was a terrible experience, just having to do it twice sucked.

A variation you may want to include. If one group does get put against all bots, the host of that group can leave the game (thus breaking up the party) and join session in progress on one of the people still in the game. Since the party was broken up, the next match will split up the group (some members on both teams). From there just have the remaining people join session in progress on the people in the game and there you go, easily have a public game with your people on both teams.

Thanks for the guide. Worked fine tonight. 8 in a party split into two lobbies, one group found a match and once they are "waiting for four players " the other party jumped into match making. Only three people were playing on our region (UK/ Europe) apart from us.

We've been trying to match up for over 90 minutes now. It simply does not work. Every time it puts each lobby into it's own match with bots and we can't connect to each other's games.

This worked perfectly for me and my friends, if anyone cares, we had 2 teams trying to join games separately, and by luck we joined the same game. We went for this later in the evening as there was only about 400 players in the Alpha game mode. Just make sure before you start to have your guest's player set to Minh, and yours also. Good luck.

Glad the DLC was fairly easy, back to grinding for Seriously 3.0.

@Mister Buds: Sorry to hear you had so much trouble, doesn't seem like anyone else has, but I'm sure there are many factors involved that could effect it. Time of day being one, depending on how many people are in the playlist.

Has everyone submitted feedback for each other and preferred the other players? Are your hosts in the same region? When one team landed a a bots room, did both teams back out and search or just one? Finally, if one group could land a bot room @falloutthirteen's note about having the host quit the game to break the party and then rejoin should help... you will have to finish the current match to get players split onto both teams, then the other people waiting should be able to join on people already in the game

Just trying to come up with an answer for you, as like I said we did it twice in one night. Best of luck to you on this...

@RMHignite: We tried every possible method listed in these comments and any other variations that we could think of. Even having the host back out and letting the match finish would not break up the party and would not allow us to join.

We eventually got the achievement done after two hours. We had two people (one with a guest account) that were in a bot match for a long time. They weren't getting split up though, so one person dropped and I was able to get in. The guy who dropped out also got back in but no one else could. Then one of my friends, who was not boosting with us, joined my game. After he finished a match with us everyone seemed to be able to join.

At this point we didn't have enough people/controllers ready to fill the match but we had the majority. A random joined our game and we saw that he was playing as RAAM and chainsawing the Minhs at spawn. We invited him to our party and he helped the rest of us.

@Mister Buds: Sounds like a tough experience, sorry you had so much trouble but at least you did eventually get it. Wish it would have been easier for you. Maybe just bad luck on getting paired that night, I know I had many times in Gears 2 when it didn't seem we would ever match up.

Thanks for the feedback, hopefully not everyone has as difficult a time.

We had two hosts in the NE USA, each with a 4 player lobby. Boosting time was 10am on a weekday. First lobby found a bot match instantly, 2nd lobby searched immediately and got matched up right away.

Unfortunately this method is hit or miss, same was it was for Gears 2. I tried it today and my group spent an hour and half searching for each other. We kept switching who was hosting the lobby after multiple failed attempts to match up and we still couldn't get together. Luck just wasn't on our side. At first we both tried searching for a game at the same time. When that didn't work we had 1 lobby search till they found a bot game, and then the other lobby would search for it. And it still didn't work. At one point both of our lobbies ended up in bot matches, but not matter how many times we tried we just couldn't match up.

It does seem to rely somewhat on the day and time, influencing how many people are playing. That being said, if you plan for "off peak" times, it seems to have a high success rate. Best of luck to you in knocking this out...

Good guide, but the note from fallouthirteen is incorrect. Every time we tried it, it put the exit player back on the exact same team they just left (not breaking up the party). If one of the other players tried it, it put them on the same team as the remaining player. In either case no one could join after that team was full. In the end we connected gears 2 style, two guys with guest controllers in a bot match waiting for the other 2 people to find us. Do not follow the note. Its hard enough to find a bot match without screwing with it.

I believe he meant that once the party leader leaves and rejoins, you are no longer in a "party". Therefore, it should split players on the following (second) match, and then everyone can proceed to join session... I haven't tested, that's just how I read the note.

Just got it using this method. Found it easier to find each other using the ranked playlist, though the draw back of this don't continue beyond one game but we managed to get everyone's achievement in the hour session I set up.

One thing I think should be added is that once you have found each other vote for King of the Hill as it has infinite respawns this way all players on the Locust team can get the achievement in one match

Confirming comment from fallouthirteen. We had two accounts with guests find a bot match. One player dropped from match and rejoined. After the match finished the two players got split onto opposite teams meaing our other members could join session in progress.

@whitedragon40K - with ranked matches not continuing past one match, that is the exact reason I didn't suggest it, but if your willing to try and match up more than once then whatever works. This could be particularly useful if a ranked list has a very low count for current players.

@DTI April - thanks for the confirmation, glad to know that the method works. Should speed things up for people, just have to wait out one match.

@RMHignite - over the past couple of days I have noticed that the Alpha Ranked playlist has very little players in it with it even having zero players during mid afternoon (GMT)

A tip if you do try it this way is to get one host to search for a match and the second host to start searching when the first host has "Searching for 4 more players"

To get the teams to swap sides it looks like the game needs be hosted consecutively by the same host. (if you swap hosts the game seems to give you the same side all the time)

Worked for the boosting party I put together tonight very well. "Join Session In Progress" confused us a little at first because that option was not available. So, we had 2 of us with our guest accounts in one lobby join a quick match in Alpha playlist, and then the other lobby of 2 + 2 guest just searched for quick match and got paired up with us right away. Also, if you are in the match and need to switch teams, we simply had 2 people back out at a time and once bots took their place, the remaining players invited the player that needed to switch teams until we had everyone on opposite teams, and then continued the executions. Thumbs up!

@Kenny -
When we did this, we all just used the lancer and chainsawed for the kill. We didn't bother to down them first to perform the execution and it worked fine. Sounds like you either had something weird going on with the game, or one of the parameters was off. You were in standard or casual and not a private game, correct?

By RMHignite on 06 Jan 2012 15:28
I was in standard quick match Warzone (online multiplayer, no private). I was raam and killed Kim by downing him and then holding Y while using the lancer. Dunno what i did wrong.

@RMHignite: Not your fault in any way, man. It's a good solution. I just wanted to post my experience with it to let people know it's not a guaranteed method, not to demean your solution at all. I know that it was possible to boost like this in Gears of War 2, but couldn't get it to work in this version.

Useful technique to unlock the ach if you do not have more players / friends to use the above solutions.
Select the game type where, at this moment, there are fewer active players in your area, and try to enter in a game filled of bots, with Minh in the COG squad and you as Raam in other (find this game may take some time, remeber to select Raam as your character in the multiplayer option).
With a little luck, you can make the 10 executions directly in one game, because it is sufficient to focus only to follow Minh.
I personally tried this configuration this morning in the Alpha mode and managed to make 8 of the 10 executions needed.
I hope you find it useful.

Although it relies mainly on luck and time, this is a solid way of getting the achievement. I got this on standard King of the Hill myself. It may not necessarily be the best mode if you are purposefully trying to get the achievement though. The matches can last a long time and it may be difficult to find a game with all bots, but there are unlimited respawns and you can hunt down Kim quite easily.

I can't even get into a game with bots, even when there are 0 people playing in my region. The game just hops back and forth between looking for a suitable match, and looking for 9 other people. Are there certain game modes or types I shouldn't be using for this (like ranked, for instance, always seems to have 0 people playing, but I can't get it to work this way)?

The attached video is a boosting method I found on YouTube and explains how to setup the achievement. Credit goes to WeazelthProductions for the video.

As the achievement states, you must execute (not just kill) Minh 10 times as RAAM in a public multiplayer match, standard or casual, not private.

Use whichever execution method you find easiest, I found using the Lancer chainsaw execution (hold the B button) the quickest.

What makes this achievement difficult is finding a Minh to execute, either a person playing as Minh or a Minh bot.

The method involves getting you and someone on your friends list on opposite teams in order to always have Minh and RAAM in the same match. The video explains the method in detail.

If you are having trouble joining someone on the opposite team of your boosting partner, try not being in the same party as the person you are boosting with. Also, after you join the other team you can delete your boosting partner from your friends list to decrease the likelihood of switching back to your boosting partner's team.*

*Thanks to NY Yankees 23 2 for the additional information in the above paragraph.

This works but is not even close to as easy as it sounds to get set up. The person you are boosting should not be in a party with you and a suggestion also is that after you finally get on oppositte teams.... delete your boosting partner from your friends list. After each game, the game would repair us up on the same team. NO party (until the game starts and end it before the game ends) and DELETE partner from friends list. After we did this, we got it in almost instantly.

this is my first solution so pls be nice :)

the way me n my friend found to be easiest was to sign in a guest profile each and go into the brothers to the end playlist ( not sure how long it will be running ) and then one of us searches for a game until we found a game with bots then the second player searches into games until he finds the other player ( took about 5 minutes for us , was quiet @ the time )

Then bobs your uncle just a case of waiting it out till both teams get a shot @ being locust ( took 3 rounds)easy cheevo

also make sure default chars are minh and raam

these games also add to the ghosts from the past achievment

Method that worked for us was to get the two 5-man groups to search for a Ranked game in CTL (lowest pop playlist) at the same time. We had to do it 5 or so times because one person DC'd in the first match and then he kept spawning as COG instead of Locust but the first 3 times we started searching we got matched up immediately. If you start searching and don't get all 5 opposing players spots filled at the same time just cancel and search again.

It worked so well probably due to a combination of low population and not many 5 man teams searching ranked CTL at the same time.

*You don't need to match up with another party"

Default Characters should be Raam/Minh

I did this in under 10 mins

1) Host the Game Lobby with 1-5 people as you being the Game Lobby Leader.

2) Join a Public TDM

3) As soon as the Game starts, Game Lobby Leader will leave the game, and join back in progress with someone whose still in the game. Finish the first game.

4) The 2nd Game, It should break-up the party and you should be on different teams. Now, just find a meeting spot and kill.

*Teams should be different after every game.

I found an easy way for this achievement, but just got around to typing the solution.

1. Get a group of 5 - 10 people together. If less than 8, then someone needs a 2nd controller. You need at least 8 slots filled out of 10 to make this totally painless.

2. Everyone search alone or as a team of 4 in Versus > Player's Choice (I did this at 12 pm PST, there were 128 people playing this mode), until you find a game that is empty on your side, and has 1 enemy on the other side.

Also, you can search with 2 parties of 4 if there are REALLY few people playing, like it was in our case (we were searching, but no one else was searching, so when both our parties started searching, that was when the match actually started). Then just invite whoever is left out.

3. Read out and message the gamertag of the enemy. Everyone then needs to send the enemy a friend request, and it does not matter if they accept or not. Just send it. From the main menu, press X. Even though friend request is not accepted, it should show them as friends. Half the party should join their game so that you can fill up the enemy side. At the same time, the person that found that match and is on the opposing team of the enemy, invite the other half of your party. This will allow you to fill up both your side, and the enemy side. Works much better than searching.

Then just get the random to work with you, or troll him out of his game.

P.S: The reason I say 4 and not 5 people in the in game party is because with 5 people, you get either a full bot match with no random on enemy team at all, or you get in a full game with full 5 randoms on enemy team. This is not 100% of the time, but it happens the majority of the time.

easy achievement just need a friend.

Invite your friend and both of you must select kim and raam go on KOTH or CTL in quick match both of you will be on the same team then go to main menu send a friend request to anyone of your friend´s enemy team then join he. now you are against your friend just go to a place far from the others and execute your friend. if next match you be kim and he raam let him execute you 10 times and both of you will get the achievement.

You can do this on your own, I did! wink
If you are in the UK then play between the hours of 7am - 9am and even a little bit later, not many people seem to be on at that time so it is easy to play a game mode were there is nobody playing it in your region or around the world!
Obviously people from around the world need to match up their time zones to this UK time.
Don't play a mode were you only have one life but any of the others are fine, make sure it says 0-0 players are playing for region and world then search!
Have Raam selected as your locust character and check using the back button while it's loading up if you are on locust side and that Kim is one of the bots on the cog team, if not then just back out and re search till you get the desired match up!
If somebody joins your game just back out and search on a different mode because it may make it too difficult and annoying to do.
Once you are playing a match don't go for any objectives just stalk Kim, the bots are tough on your own and I didn't win a round but I did get the 4 remaining executions (chain saw) kills on him I needed in one round for the achievement!

The time you do this I think is crucial, UK 7am-9am and match up were ever your are around the world to increase your chances of getting this done!
Hope this helps a few people out and takes the hassle out of finding and doing a session even though that's what TA is all about, this is another option!

Happy hunting and good luck! wink

To boost this achievement you need a minimum of a party of 3 but 5 is the best. The booster chooses to be Raam and the rest choose to be Kim as their character. Start a quick match like King of the Hill so you can respawn a lot. Once the match starts the party leader leaves the match and then joins back into the match from an invite from one of the people playing as Kim. This will cause everyone to no longer be in a game party except the person who rejoined with the Kim. Once the match ends you will most likely end up on opposite teams unless you were facing another team already that was a party of 5. Works best if no one on the other team is in a group to begin with. Then just hope the Raam ends up on a Locust team and he can go execute anyone who managed to make it to the Cog team.

Yes you can do it alone but how? EASY (only for xbox one owners).

This game is now backwards compatibily and so you can play it with your xbox one and with your 360 (with another profile with gold like a 48 hours trial and the purchased the digital version).

It's very easy i did it today (March 8th 2017) in the playlist force of natures (apparenty empty, i played the entire day and no one showed up), just search with the profile who wants the achievement (XBOX ONE) set GENERAL RAAM as default character and try to find a empty lobby in the game mode BROTHERS TO THE END 2VS2.

(If you have problem finding an empty server and if you have a low connection like 5 mb or under try upload stronger archives to generate lag in onedrive).

When you find the empty server set up the second profile with the gold trial and set a guest player to fill (XBOX 360) (previous set MINH as default character) and search on the same playlist. Automatically you will be redirect to the same match who are located the main profile *for prevent the kick from inactivity try to put in your 2 xbox 360 controllers an elastic rubber crossing the two joystick to set a circular movement preventing the kick.*.

And its all go to the enemy respawn and execute the 2 mihns are doing circulars movements and you will have the achievement in the same game.

If you want to level up FASTER (140k exp per match) do the pistol execution spaming the cn_Y button when the guys are down and you will earn a lot exp with this method.
