Can I join a match of randoms playing midmatch and get credit for a chapter completed as long as four people finish? That's the only way I'll EVER get this achievement thanks to my ridiculous schedule putting me at odds with my friends.

i was wondering how can you play this game on local with three friends since it says you can do it offline? im just wondering coz i havent had time to see if my settings to my router were changed since now im having problems with connecting to ppl all of a sudden :( i cant even play dead island with four players

Do i have to do campaign on arcade at casual, normal or hardcore to unlock insane or if you finish it on either campaign or arcade it unlocks insane for both?

do you get the other co-op achievement (my fellow gears) with this one too, or do you have to do them seperately?

@LGS I Hitman: once you beat the game on any difficulty, campaign or arcade, it unlocks insane

@IFEARI MauLer: I think you need two gold accounts to play splitscreen over xbl

Just to let you know something I noticed. On occasion I started various chapters with only 2-3 players. Yet when the party was topped up to 4 players, it still counted.

The point I'm making is that it doesn't matter if you don't start with 4 players.

As long as there are 4 players AT THE END OF THE CHAPTER, it'll still count to unlocking the achievement.

To check whether you have completed a certain Act with 4 players, just go to chapter select and see whether that Act has the logo with 4 players on the bottom right. I'm assuming you can go deeper and see whether you have completed a chapter with 4 people.

when i play prolog i need 4 plyers in or is it enough when 4players in at the end of chapter 1 in?
i have only in prolog no 4players down right in the corner.

with all 4 people playing, it took us about 6 hrs to complete the campaign skipping all cutscenes

No, as long as you are there for the end of the chapter.

I can't get the cheevo to unlock, even though all requirements (in-game check list) have been fulfilled . . . all 31 chapters with 4 online players

Another quick way to check in-game is the 'achievements' tab, scroll down to this achievement and it will have a check mark for each act.

Achievement does not unlock for me... Bug?

The achievement didn't unlock for me it said that I did all chapters with four players

It's easier to check level by level versus checking the achievement screen. Then you will know the exact level you still need [99% of the time it's the prologue]. If it still didnt unlock I would try joining a random one online, complete it, and that might unlock it

for those of who you didnt get the cheevo to unlock. I had same issue, but id played it through with 3 friends, and same player was host every time. At the end it only clocked off for the host, so we all played the prologe again taking it in turns to be host, and it clocked off for each of us as we took a turn. Similar issue for Warmonger medal, id done casual, then played insane, finished it and unlocked, but normal and hardcore remained locked. had to play the first chapter of normal and hardcore to get them to unlock

@scary Marcus It's been a while since I tried using a guest but I think some other people have said yes that you can use a guest, but I'm not positive

Not really sure to be honest. I only played about half the campaign with the guests signed in. If I took a guess if you blew through the campaign as quick as possible on casual I would say 6 to 10 hours. However, that’s just my guess…good luck!

Can you do it so that you can have four people on one xbox?

One thing to point out when you are split-screening with only two of you playing is that at the beginning of chapter 5 you have to run along the railway track before the train runs you down. You have to make sure you get all 4 of your team off the railway before the train comes and that means trying to roadie run two contollers simultaneously. If one is left on the track even on arcade mode then you all die and have to restart at the previous checkpoint.

You are correct Jodmeister, I didn’t point that out in my review but I don’t think it is very difficult. I think most people will realize that you have to make all four across when they get the start menu after one player dies. Easiest thing to do is set one controller on one leg, set the other controller on the other leg, and hold down both of the A buttons. Then when you get to the end just roll to the side and you’re all good. There is plenty of time to make both players across with that method. I actually found it quite fun!

One question- I am about to start this myself with 2 xbox's using the guest method (using gf's tag) and I am worried that I will run into trouble with 3 afk players. Will I run into trouble where I will need other players to take control for a short period? Thanks!

As Jodmeister mentioned there is a part where all four players must be active. Other than that I can’t think of a particular part in the campaign where all four players need to be active. Just a fair warning if you are planning on playing the campaign with only one active player and three idle controllers it could prove to be a worthy challenge even on casual! Good luck!

That’s not possible, Gears of War 3 only allows two players per console via local co-op.

I want to confirm that this achievement can be completed by one player using 2 Xbox 360s, 2 Xbox Live accounts, and 4 controllers.

Probably the most challenging section is the aforementioned train section in the first segment of Chapter 5. But this too can be done with a little trial and error. The way that worked best for me was to have two controllers on each side of my lap close enough together that I could press four A buttons simultaneously. When the scene begins, make sure all 4 characters are facing the same direction (the direction from which the train will be coming). When I did it, two of the four characters had to be reoriented to face the correct direction. I therefore quickly grabbed two controllers and made those two characters face the correct direction. Then I quickly laid those controllers down and pressed the A button on all four controllers simultaneously, making all four characters roadie-run simultaneously. Once the four characters reached the stairway on the left, I grabbed each controller in quick succession and guided each character up the stairs. You don’t need to get them to the top of the stairs; just get them on the first step or two so they don’t get run over by the train. It took a few tries to get past this section, but not that many; it took maybe 12 minutes in all before I got it right.

This is working a treat.
I finished a chapter and wanted to pay single player but there was no way to disconnect the guest login.

If I completely quit out past the menu then disconnected the controller I got a constant please connect controller message and the game started split screen.


It amazes me how in big budget releases they let something as simple as this to solve slip through.

Unbelievable. I had to quit to xbox home and completely restart the game to get rid of player two

I'm happy to see this solution is still helping my fellow TA'ers almost four years later! Yea the guest option is kind of tricky. That's why I added how to sign the guest in on the solution. I had some trouble when I first tried back then if I remember correctly. Thanks for the comment!

Make it 7 years later! I take it there is no way if doing this With one Box on insane and the other on casual?
