How to unlock the I Like Em Crispy achievement in Gears of War 4 - Definitive Guide

As of November 9th 2020, all event skins are craftable using scrap!

If the achievement doesn't unlock, quit the game and boot it back up. Several users have experienced this.

I'll leave all the old information up just for the sake of people knowing how it was obtained originally.


FINAL UPDATE!: There will be no more events. The skins will be craftable in January 2020.

As of February 15th the update to make them craftable is still pending from The Coalition. The below quote is from TC Octus on Reddit.

We've postponed the Gears 4 sunsetting stuff until Summer so the team can keep focusing on improving 5 above all else. We're locking down plans now to communicate well ahead of time what we plan to do, but it won't be for quite a while.

The Coalition started Versus events for Flaming Weapon skins back in August of 2017.

5/3/18 EDIT: The event reward distribution has been updated. They are now tied to Xbox Challenges with zero Gamerscore. There is tracking progress with the challenges, so no need to manually track yourself anymore. Once you have unlocked the appropriate challenge, go to the MOTD (Message of the Day) on the Gears 4 menu, and click 'Claim Reward'. It will redirect you to the Gears official website where you will log in with your Xbox account. Click 'Claim Reward' on the website page and you should receive your reward instantly. Coalition has stated to allow up to 48 hours for the reward to appear.

Alternatively, after you've unlocked the challenges, you can go to the new 'My Reward' page on the Gears website, login, and claim the reward.

During these timed events you need to register through the main menu on Gears 4 that will redirect you to GearsofWar.com. You'll then hit register on-site. Each event will have criteria that must be met to be eligible for the Flaming skins. You'll need to manually track progress during these events as there is no in-game tracker.

I will post any upcoming events as they are announced and edit this solution and make a comment to it as well.

Hello guys and gals. The new versus event will be starting today at 3PM PT, which is about 2 and a half hours from now. As promised, there are FOUR Flaming weapon skins up for grabs during this event.

Flaming Weapon Skin Challenges

Completionists, get ready. The last 3 Flaming Weapon Skins in the collection – the EMBAR, Boltok and Overkill – are up for grabs as part of BTTE! You’ll also get a second shot at picking up the Flaming Lancer as part of the challenges.

Here’s how you’ll collect those sweet Flaming Weapon Skins with your Gears wingman of choice:

We’re In This Together (Flaming Overkill and Boltok)
Complete 10 matches of Brothers To The End or Social TDM

Deadly Duo (Flaming Lancer and EMBAR)
Win 10 matches of Brothers To The End or Social TDM

Why do the challenges count in Social TDM you ask? It’s a quirk of our stat tracking that allowed us to enable these Challenges in time for the event. If you prefer to get them that way, we won’t stop you.

Just like the Griffin challenge, you’ll be able to track your completion progress for these challenges in the Xbox Guide like any other achievement. Once completed, head to gearsofwar.com/en-us/my-rewards (page will be live once the event begins) to instantly claim your skins.

BTTE and it’s associated challenges will be available from Thursday May 3rd at 3pm PT – Monday May 14th at 10am PT.
So hop on, grab a buddy, and knock out the 2 challenges to receive 4 Flaming weapon skins. And hopefully nab the achievement if you don't already have it.

Has anyone else had trouble finding a match on Escalation? I've only gotten into three matches in two days.

Yeah... but did you notice how the Card Conpanion server went down recently and no one had any of their cards until it came up? So should the Coalition developers close or move on and the card conpanion server falls over again then they'll be so many unobtainables in this game.

For Flaming Skins, because they come from Versus, they had a huge backlog, they said they're waiting to do more events until they've got all the skins out, should be doing the Valentine day ones next.

They came up with a better method for the Horde ones so there's been quite a few of those events and will continue, they did say they were working on a better method for the Versus ones, I expect within the recent updates, maybe the 28th March ("April") update they could put in a better method of tracking kills/wins across matches in versus and unlock cards. After that they'll hopefully be more events and more often if they done have to then spend weeks manually checking and giving out the Skins.

Did you scrap any of them?
You need to have 5 flaming weapon skins in your inventory at the same time to unlock it.
Until then, it'll count how many you currently have and increase the tracker up to that many fifths as a percentage (1 = 20%, 2 = 40%, 3 = 60%, 4 = 80%).
Achievement trackers only increase, they don't decrease, so when you scrap a flaming weapon skin it doesn't reduce the tracker completion percentage, but until you get up to the same amount of flaming weapon skins you had before you scrapped them, it won't increase.

e.g. Have two flaming weapon skins, tracker shows 40% (if it doesn't, restart the game).
You scrap both flaming weapon skins, tracker remains at 40%, but you have 0 flaming weapon skins.
You earn 2 more flaming weapon skins, tracker stays at 40%, as you only have 2 Flaming weapon skins at the moment, that's 40%, once you get another flaming weapon skin and don't scrap the 2 you have, it'll go to 60% as you now have 3 flaming weapon skins.

I just realised that I've been sweating and grinding to get these last few weapons and maps for the achievements but I might as well chill and wait for these two skin achievements to start up as we'll be doing many rounds/maps then anyway. Pointless grinding maps if we'll hit them possibly during these anyway.

I never really bothered with special events but have flaming lancer as a log in bonus. The console's achievement tracker shows 0% progress on the achievement but on xbox mobile app it shows 20%. Was wondering if it shows 40 or 60% for those of you who have flaming markza and/or longshot?

They should have AT LEAST released an event at the same time of the achievements. That makes logical and marketing sense to me. Get everyone on one skin prove that they're commited etc. Hopefully they get going when gearsmas properly starts ??

Melee kills do not count. It's stated the it be be with the weapon shot.

@Hollaback Also once your account is registered you should be fine. I don't think hitting register again will affect anything. Although you may want to reach out to The Coalition for support.

Just FYI if you live in Australia/New Zealand this Achievement is basically impossible to get legit as there isn't many players, and since the fucking retarded cunts at TC got rid of changing servers you will have to join/create sessions or have American/European mates in order to find matches

Is there any way of checking if you've completed this other than pen and paper, or some indication when you've met the targets? keeping track via Pen and paper is one thing, but what if joining a half done game doesn't count as a win? or the kills only count from a game you've played from the start?

Easy method, go to warjornal, weapons, scroll down to boomshot, you will gonna see how many kills you have, write in a paper, now play snowball and keep looking on warjornal.

I can confirm that the tracking for these is not very accurate. It must not always count matches joined in progress because I definitely won 5 matches of each type for the flaming snub but didn't get awarded it. I would say be conservative and win a few over the limit and make sure you are in the match before it starts and after it finishes.

looks like there might be an event tied to the one shot one kill event later this month. If not, theyve confirmed there will be events for valentines day and st patricks day but havent said whether they were multiplayer or horde events, but at least we can see there will be monthly events for the foreseeable rest of the year.

i read but also when i start the game says osok is back and shows flamming longshot i think you get it why should they show the skin for nothing and who confirmed thats no rewards because you dont have to register???

I suspect they did intend to, but as they're still struggling to sort out the Cluckshot and Flaming Snub, my guess is the Gearsmas skins will be delayed beyond January and the monthly events may not start until they fix the problem.

The skins are slowly trickling in, if you know you got the 100 kills you should have all your weapon skins within three days if not sooner according to their twitter account.

Now that they have released all the skins this achievement is pretty much discontinued. They are continuing to release Crimson Omen skins, but there are no new ways planned to earn Flaming skins, until the end of April at least.

I'm also worried. From what they posted it seems they are giving regular skins and not flaming skins for the next batch of events... We'll have to wait and see. It would be a complete dick move from them not re-releasing skins, since the achievement only came out after you could no longer get them. They pretty much released a broken achievement for a lot of people.

Best move from them would be to give those new skins AND also give some flaming skins along for people that do not have them.

It's why I emphasised the AND just because that is a Horde Event doesn't mean all the Daily Rewards, for two weeks, all have to be Horde related.

Also as I suspected, the Cupid Torque Bow Tag event that's just started is another chance at the Flaming Torque Bow, plus a new Flaming skin, so no need for the doom and gloom, in fact, with Esports skins/events too, it's a pretty busy calendar for the next two/three months.

I wouldn't count joined games for wins, I'd have thought kills would have counted.
Executions might not count as weapon kills.

Using the Master At Arms tracker at this link you can see your Torque Bow kills, make a note of the number you start with, then play Cupid Torque Bow tag until you've gotten over a 100 kills, I'd say get more kills to be on the safe side, as many as you're willing or able to.

Don't get Torque Bow kills in any other mode while doing this.
It's what I did for Gearsmas and I got the Flaming Dropshot with the Boomshot.

Well it seems like this will be impossible for me because I live in Australia. I can find matches in Social and Horde fine but these game modes have been dead for me since Gears 1 classic.
I managed to get the flaming lancer for signing in one day and the markza for OSOK matches months ago.

There is no point to that! The Cupid skin is a freebie.

The event skins are the ones for the achievement and have to be earned, that's what makes it an achievement... They are not just going to give you the skin to get the achievement without even doing anything!!

My question is according to what you posted, u get the dropshot for the snowball fight, i never participated cuz work got the better of me. I did how ever do the torque bow one and never got any of the ones listed. Is it all random as to what u get from each event? Plus i got over 100 kills and won over 10 matches why did i only get 1?

For the flaming enforcer and flaming torque: The coallition has not announce that those have started to roll out. The status is still the same: "To be awarded". Read the solution from @Slain Incarnate, the valentines skins haven't been awarded. It should be a matter of days.

@SiegfriedX I feel your anger and it's not only that. They had passed events I simply did not care for because gaming nowadays is all about those friggin' weapon skins! And then TC decides a year later, oh let's put in achievements for weapon skins! Why didn't those morons over there do that from the get go with launch instead? So instead of being able to leave this game behind, I have to dig it up once in a while for those events and hope against hope they actually award the skins (in time which we all know, they can't keep their promises).

Well my point being that there's no reason to worry about it being unobtainable anytime soon even if u had none at this point. Your talking about if they close the servers and cards stop working/don't exist anymore. Microsoft doesn't just shut down servers for their games like that, if you can't still go back And play old gears or halos this will be fine for a long time to be able to craft the skins then. And if you are starting this game that far into the future you should know what you're getting into anyways.

I disagree. They added inconceivable which was different. Beating iron man coop was tough as well. We died twice in act V so it was awesome to finally finish it. Increased horde skills. They really have done a great job with this game

His whole point is that The Coalition doesn't release any new content and they just release achievements to make you play the same content over and over again. You've disagreed, but only list things that make you play the same content over and over again.

A higher difficulty, a "one life" mode and increasing the skill card cap is not new content.

For me, when I got the skins, I had to quit the game and relaunch it for it to read the new skins. As for progress not updating, it updated for me when I go to "See all my achievements" instead of "Achievement list" and actually select Gears of War 4. After that, going back into the gears of war 4 achievement list as normal will have the updated percentages. That's been true of all games lately. If I unlocked an achievement or my tracker isn't updating, usually viewing the game's actual achievements instead of the shortcut list will make them pop or update.

Now they have the "achievement challenge and website claim" method, I expect they'll redo chances to get the other Flaming weapon Skins since before December in events every month now.

Don't scrap any flaming weapon Skins until you've gotten five different ones, well can probably scrap duplicates.

Kanchanaburi - this achievement is flagged as Partly Discontinued because if you can't get into a Public Match then you cannot get this achievement. It doesn't look like TC have any intention on fixing the bug that causes this which has been there since day 1, but if they do the flag will get removed.

I've currently got 6 different ones, but achievement still not popping? Maybe in a few days when the latest weapon skins have been fully updated into the game. Got my latest 2 to make it go from 4 to 6 but achievement has not popped as of yet.

EDIT: A quick restart of my X1 console and booting the game up to the main menu and sat for about 2-3 mins and the achievement had popped. Just for anyone who might have over the 5 different flaming weapon skins and the achievement doesn't pop when you get rewarded the skins, do a restart of your console and sit in the main menu for a few mins and the achievement should pop for you.

^ yeah this challenge will reward you with a snub flaming skin (I think). I think most people are in parties of 5 already when searching, that's why we can`t get into games. We had a session the other day and when searched with a party of 5, we could easily find matches.

lobotomized doesn't count as that's a horde challenge and horde isn't considered "versus" so you will have to do the 10 games of OSOK to get your 5 "versus" flaming skins

I got 5 heartbeat, omen, and flaming skins from the lobotomized challenge and my progress bar for "I like em crispy" didn't move from 20% even though I just got 5 flaming skins

I Like Em Crispy and Better than Bacon didn't update for me either after winning Lobotomized. Had 7 unique Midnight Omen and 7 unique Flaming skins, all equipped. The two achievements didn't unlock until after I restarted the game.

The changes require QA testing to ensure they don't cause any issues or break the game, this is currently low down on the list, with QA having a long list of items to work through currently, including but not limited to Gears 5 Operations (Op 4 released recently, Op 5 coming soon), regular Title Updates for fixes, and for November 10th Gears 5 for Xbox Series X/S, Gears Tactics for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One/X/S.

Since there's normally a Gearsmas event every December, I'd guess this will not be able to be addressed until Jan 2021 at the earliest, is my personal opinion.

Registering is not too hard. You just log in with your gamertag, hit a button, boom you're in. Of course then you have to complete the requirements, which are pretty lax. You might have to put up with some super tryhards once in awhile but its not that bad. I already have the Lancer, Marzka, and Longshot. I THINK I completed the requirements for the Torque but I'm not sure.

Arador - I got 6 AU and NZ players together and we all searched in two teams and seperatelty for an hour and didn't get a match. I also searched for 2 hours at a time several times and never got a match. The only way AU and NZ players can get this achievement is by getting an invite from someone in the US who is already in a match.

You can use the tracker from Solution for Master At Arms In Gears of War 4 to track your 100 Snowshot kills :)

Yeah, I'd call it the "Master at Arms" and "I Like Em Crispy" tracker, for any Versus events involving # number of kills with a weapon, at the start of the event, use the tracking and note down your kills for that weapon, then play nothing but that event in Versus, and when your number of kills with that weapon has increased over the number of required kills, then can be fairly confident it's registered enough kills, I would do 1.5 - 2 times the number of kills (and match wins) to be on the safe side.

That's if they ever start doing the events again, probably waiting on a fix for tracking and distributing earned skins.

If your achievement progress doesn't increase, go into Customization and Inventory and locate the skins and select them, then restart the game, at some point it will wake up and increase the progress percent.

AceMcCloud - that is a Horde event, which would be a Crimson Omen skin at best, but there is no indication of that.

There used to be one or two Flaming skin events per month, and now there is nothing announced. There is another Crimson Omen skin horde event 16th March - https://gearsofwar.com/en-us/community/whatsup-feb8-2018

You are completly at the mercy of TC on whether or not you will be able to get this achievement.

^ No. You can get 15 kills each day, as long as you get 100 kills across all the sessions and matches you play, you will get the skin.

Don't forget to register, and keep a note of how many you've got on your side.

I got both of mine. But maybe I was lucky.

What I did do as an FYI was only count kills and victories from FULL games. If I joined halfway through a match I didn't add them to my self-made tally. I'm doing the same for the Torque Bow Challenge. Worked last time so figuring it can't hurt this time.

A4L ParalyzE - one event in 3 months pretty much means some people will not be able to get this achievement. You say there should be 3 more skins, but what if you haven't got any so far? There were over 130 events for Sybarite, and yet there are still people that couldn't get achievement. If I knew they were going to add more Sybarite crap into this game I probably won't have started it, but to add it later then make it retroactive long after I had finished the game is plain dirty.

@A4L ParalyzE That's pretty much the reason this is the last Gears of War game I'll ever play as long as it's made by Coalition. Everything they did with this game is wrong. They released SEVERAL DLCs with absolutely no new content at all to justify them. They made we play the game 7 times just because of some new stupid achievement. They made we play the same horde maps over and over again. The same multiplayer over and over again.

Everything they did with this game was to please the minority of people that only play Gears of War everyday, year after year until the next one comes out and then they move on. The "content" they released is either completely ignored by the vast majority of players, because it brings nothing new to the game at all, or pisses people that though they were done with the game and have more things to play.

If they wanna please solely the top 1% of their player base, so be it. Try and sell the next game to this small group of people and then tell me how this works out. I know for a fact they won't get more money from me ever again.

You should have your Valentine's event skins now and they count toward the achievement, just as they should. They've already announced the next opportunities for flaming skins will be late April. You'll get your skins. You guys are overreacting. Seems like gamers are never satisfied with any game. Seems like every community is full of compliants no matter what game you go to. I've seen this game is no different.

I enjoy this game, and while I agree there's things they could fix, I also feel they've gotten a lot right in this game as well.

If you read my comment carefully you'll see I never even mentioned this achievement or skins. I'm disappointed by the fact that they keep releasing achievements that are boring and bring no new things to the game. It's not only coalition doing that. Final Fantasy XV did that on the latest DLC. Tomb Raider did it. Dead Rising 4 did it. It's like the new cancer, release achievements that just make you replay content you have already played with nothing new at all. I don't know how some people can find this a good thing. Gears just took it all to the next level making us replay things over and over again That's why Coalition is the one I despise the most. They are not by far the only ones in the wrong here, they are just the worst of the lot.

Hello guys and gals. The next Versus event has been announced! Up for grabs is the Flaming Gnasher skin for the following achievement;

@ConfideValkyrie They do specifically state Flaming skins on the "Road Ahead" image linked on @TonyTwoSteaks and @Al117 links. Its mentioned directly under the Valentines and OSOK events.

Today's "Whats Up" only lists Heartbeat and Cupid skins for the Valentine event however. I guess this means Flaming skin(s) for OSOK on the 22nd, if we're lucky.

there was no update, but this is not a reason to give up, it all depends on us, write to support, on the forums, on Twitter. You should not sit and wait until everything is decided by itself, I believe that the players who are waiting and do nothing are to blame for the fact that the update did not come. Developers ignore us because we are few, forums and tweeter are full of various questions, and this issue is the least discussed. Stop sitting and waiting! now the word of each player has huge weight

If the achievements don't unlock, try restarting the game and it should correct itself.

Posting this so no one has to sort through the other guide.


For this achievement you'll need a total of 3,000 scrap:

-Each skin will be 600 scrap to craft
-You must own all 5 skins at the same time
-The skin can be found under the COG tab for weapons


Once you get your achievement, you can scrap the skins if you don't like them for a total of 750 scrap.
