How to unlock the Know Your Role: Engineer achievement in Gears of War 4 - Definitive Guide

THE quickest way to get this achievement would be to start on wave 41 on Dam. Have Barrier cost on, run to the fabricator, pick it up and drop it, then make 10 barriers. Simple as that.

Does this pop when you build the 10th in game or do you have to wait till round/game end?

Do I have to start building as soon as the wave starts or before? I go to the fabricator build 10 barriers and no achievement. can this be done in private match or not?

I did this in a private horde solo.
I picked up and dropped the fabricator straight away and started building. The achievement popped before the round started.

Just remember, you have to have the ‘barrier cost’ card equipped if you are building barriers (which I suggest as they are the cheapest fortification) or the achievement won’t pop.
