How to unlock the Please Sir, Can I Have Some More? achievement in Gears of War 4 - Definitive Guide

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Sorry, folks. It looks like the recent title update has caused Sniper Strike headshots to no longer count toward the headshot bounty. You'll still get xp for the ribbons and whatnot, but not for the bounty.

This is a modification of a guide originally posed by YAT0, but which he had taken down. It will get you 16K xp for doing just one Wave of Horde, using only the Sniper Strike from the fabricator.

Setup:
1) You’ll need to fire up a second controller and sign in a guest. You can still use this method without a guest signed in, but the game will behave differently for some reason. With a guest signed in the Sniper Strike works more effectively, and I don't know why. I just know that you will more often than not fail to kill all of the enemies with the Sniper Strike when you are playing without a second controller signed in. Also, having a second controller signed in will allow you to earn credits for finishing the wave.
2) Go to a Private Horde match on the map Reclaimed. Set Wave to 49 and difficulty to Insane. The map does not have to be Reclaimed, and based on the comments other people have their favorites. Foundation seems popular (see comments).
3) You’ll be playing as the sniper class. Ideally, your Sniper Strike should be at level 4. This will allow you to maximize the number of ribbons you’ll get during the wave.
4) Set your bounty to Headshot I (7,500 xp for getting 50 headshots). You can craft this bounty for 40 scrap. If you’re at the point where you’re just grinding xp just sell, sell, sell and buy tons of this bounty.

The Grind:
1) Start up the game at Wave 49, then drag the fabricator into the Garage for a little safe cover. Bring your second controller player over to the fabricator also just in case you get downed.
2) As soon as the icon for Sniper Strike is available, fire one off.
3) Continue to fire off Sniper Strikes until the wave is cleared. Wait a few seconds between strikes to make sure that you get the Double, Triple, Quad and Quint ribbons every time. This will affect your xp gain immensely. A good rule of thumb is to fire off the next Sniper Strike as soon as the Quad or Quint ribbon shows up. If your Sniper Strike is level 4 you'll have enough energy in the fabricator to clear the wave.
4) After the wave is cleared and the kills have been tallied, press Start and select Return to Lobby, not Return to Main Menu. This way you won’t have to change any settings and can immediately launch another game on Insane from Wave 49.

You should get roughly 8,500 xp from ribbons and clearing the wave, plus 7,500 for the Headshot I bounty. Ribbon xp will vary based on randomly getting Oscar Mike ribbons. That’s 16,000 xp from doing a single wave of Horde without firing a shot.

I have to say this is definitely the fastest method out there. This doesn't mean that it isn't still a long way to go and it isn't monotonous as hell. I can confirm what The Schwartz 00 has said. I was on my 4th re-up when I started this and it took me between 30-40 hours to do this. A second controller is a must if you want to try this. Also make sure to have enough credits and scrap when you go for this method. I started with 1000 scrap and 10.000 credits. I never got into troubles credit or scrap wise. The 71 credits + the 500 credits every 5 levels were always enough to get enough scrap together for another 50 bounties.

All in all: This needs dedication and persistence. I started doing this last Monday and finished Friday evening of the same week. But what a long week this was! :-D. Make sure to have a Laptop next to you with hundreds of movies, or get something else to keep you distracted. With enough to do on the side, you can make this in just a couple of days (granted you have a few days off work that is :-D )

I rushed through this because I don't trust the developers: Who knows if they decide to upgrade the headshots bounty to a blue card or do something else to prevent us from leveling up "off grid" :-D

One last word: If you encounter troubles with the game freezing in loading screens, stop opening the shop in between rounds and do not look up your amount of credits. Just starting round after round without pressing the cn_back button fixed that glitch for me.

I do it on Inconceivable on Wave 42. After the wave is done, I'd be left with around 9,000 power. I'd grab the power to make it 10,000, and fire two more rounds of Sniper Strike in the next wave. I'd then run out to get killed. This gives me close to 30,000 XP plus 81 credits each time.

Just a Guest is fine. It should automatically be added to your lobby once you sign it in in-game.
To sign in a guest:
1) First, fire up a second controller (obviously)
2) Press the start button on the second controller while you are in the normal Gears 4 lobby. You should get the prompt "Who Are You?".
3) Scroll over to the left and select "Guest"
4) That should do it. Your guest should be put right into your lobby.
5) To grind XP now that your Guest is signed in just to to Horde and select Play Private Match or whatever the private match option is called.

This solution for Reclaimed map is a complete BS!
Because on this map you'll have 45-51 enemies, which is NOT ENOUGH to receive a bonus.

Let the numbers say for themselves:
played 6 times on Reclaimed - received bounty for 50 kills only 2 times!

WarIsCommingHome: I play on Dam only. Guest controller is essential. I reach the bounty 29 of 30 times Id say. Only fire when the ribbon for four or five kills is shown not earlier, SS level 4.

WarIsCommingHome, what level is your Sniper Strike? I've been doing this method on Wave 49 of Reclaimed hundreds of times and I've NEVER once failed to get the Bounty for getting 50 kills. There are over 50 enemies on Wave 49, so as long as your Sniper Strike is level 4 you will always kill all of the enemies, or at least 50. Below level 4 and you won't kill them all, and not get the bounty. Also, make sure that you're playing on Insane. That may affect the number of enemies that appear, though I'm not sure if that's the case or not.

I wasn't at level 4 with my Sniper Strike when I started doing this grind so I just dismantled some of my Legendary cards and leveled up my Strike with the scrap. I'd much rather have the rapid XP than the cards.

My Sniper Strike is lvl 4.

BTW,
>1) You’ll need to fire up a second controller and sign in a guest (in order to have ribbons count)

this is also incorrect, because you can get ribbons in Horde even if you're playing solo.
the 2nd controller is required for getting CREDITS.

By YAT0 on 21 Dec 2016 15:43
I have a level 4 Sniper Strike and I do all my grinding on the Glory map. I just drag the fabricator to the spawn point and strike away. And YAT0 is correct, if you don't get the bounty on Wave 49, proceed to Wave 50 and hit the SS one more time, you should get it then.

I've done a little testing and I've found that if I play without a second controller signed in the Sniper Strike does not work nearly as well as when I'm playing on split-screen. I have no idea what's behind it, but if I try the method described in this solution without a second controller, I run out of fabricator energy before all of the enemiees are dead. When a second controller is signed in all of the enemies are killed every time, with fabricator energy to spare.

Right, same problem I was having. It seems the more players you have, the more enemies spawn in at once.

By The SCHWARTZ 00 on 22 Dec 2016 02:00
I think it's more than that, though. Playing without a second controller I was just running out of fabricator power before 50 enemies were killed. With a second controller that wasn't happening. It was killing more enemies per Sniper Strike with a second controller. It's bizarre.

Why is the 2nd controller needed? Just wondering
0
0
By Michel on 26 Dec 2016 04:38
@ Michel, without a second controller, you won't get enough enemies to spawn in between Sniper Strikes.

For example, I have a level 4 SS, which allows me to kill 6 enemies at a time. When I tried this method with one controller, I would constantly only get 5 kills, which means you eventually run out of power and there will still be 4 or 5 enemies left, and you end up dying. But with a second controller, you can easily get 6 or even 7 kills at a time.

I can confirm what my fellow Irishman says, this has not been changed on title update 3, works very well. I run it on Foundation, don't bother moving the 2nd controller. Run straight to fabricator, lift put down. Hit the sniper strike as soon as its available and again after every quad/quint ribbon. I did it for an hour last night, never went down, never saw an enemy. Works a treat.

I think my game is seriously glitching out or something. After the patch I haven't been able to get any credits, wave completion XP, or bounty XP. For some reason the only thing I get is the XP from ribbons. It says that I have the headshot bounty on and it says that I completed it, but on the rewards screen it gives me 0 XP for its completion. What's even weirder is that I had 8 headshot bounties before the run and I still had 8 after the run. I created another to have 9 and tried again to see if that would fix the problem, but it did the same exact thing. I don't know if this is something with the servers or what, but it's been like this for the past day or two.

Pick a heavy as your guest controller and suicide at the spawn, then take your main, pick of the 1,000 power and place the fabricator. For me most of the time these 1,000 is exactly what you need to kill all enemies (and sometimes I had 5,000 left). Note that I have Sniper Strike 4. Unless they changed something on the server side last week, this should work perfectly for you. A week ago I leveled from 70 to 100 with no issues.

Still need 5 reups despite finished everything else. OMG, i won't stand doing this about 30-35 hours.

I was on my 5th reup when I started (played a ton of Developers Playlist Horde w/ double XP before this), and I'm now on my 10th reup.... I'd say a good 20-25 hours once you get a rhythm down. But again, that's from Reup 5 to Reup 10. If you're starting from scratch, it's probably 30-40 hours total.

This is honestly still the best method to boost xp and credits by yourself, if only for the fact that you can do it without paying much attention.

I do this mindlessly while also watching a tv show with my wife all the time. The xp is still pretty good (getting a full level every 3 to 4 runs, and I'm currently at reup 7), plus 71 credits for each run means you can buy lots of loot boxes after you're done.

I think the writer of the method should not have said "this method is no longer valid", but rather, "this method is not as effective as before"

UPDATE: Since the other guide was removed here are the xp requirements for each reup (reposted from that other guide):
1 1,069,200
2 1,170,180
3 1,271,160
4 1,372,140
5 1,473,120
6 1,574,100
7 1,675,080
8 1,776,060
9 1,877,040
10 2,079,000

With the new 1-50 class bounties that give XP i would seriously consider doing casual 1-50 over and over for 65k xp (normal + bounty).

UPDATE: Fortifications 2 has been removed from the game. Lovely. So the 1st method is no longer usable.

I have one horde based methods for you, best done with at least 1 partner and doesn't have a net use of any of your resources.

Craft/use a hardcore I bounty. An engineer with turret discount and repair efficient and a scout with health boost and deposit bonus can handle this relatively easily on the fallout map. I would actually recommend starting at wave 11 rather than 1, as you will start with enough cash to build a turret right off the bat. Build turrets on the left wall of the spawn and a barrier across the opening, Suicide on boss waves to get the helicopter. You can spend extra money to build a decoy outside the spawn and a barrier in front of it. Keep enough money to repair the turrets, but spend the rest on decoys out front to level up your fabricator as lvl 2 and 3 turrets will make things go much quicker.

This run will get you at least 25k xp. It will also get you at least 2k xp towards your class, and it will get enough credits for 1.5 horde packs, which will provide just enough scrap to make another hardcore 1 bounty. (Any credits from hitting a 5 level milestone will be gravy).

You're clearly okay with fully paid games where there is content locked behind rng microtransactions, no fixed rewards for leveling up whatsoever, a £40 season pass that is almost worthless and matchmaking that is still broken and unbalanced. I'm not being cynical because it's a slow completion (I've done far worse), I'm being cynical because the game in its current state is a mess.

@Kexol, I'm not being cynical because there's no longer a bounty to level up ridiculously quick. I didn't even use the bounty method. I agree, this is a great game, but there are some major flaws with the economy and their mindset. They said there are huge changes to bounties and the economy coming, so I'm hopeful.

Sort of, very slightly, you get that deposit bonus on the amount you start with (1000), but not on the bonus money in the fabricator.
You certainly can let them kill the barriers, but it's a lot faster if they kill you. Plus, upgrading is a lot cheaper (1000 base) than building new ones (2000/3000 depending on fab level)

I clocked this with my lvl 5 engineer.
Build cost (10% discount, lvl 5 card)
Decoy cost (40% discount, lvl 5 card, not needed though)
Barrier Cost (40% discount, lvl 5 card)
Did it on DAM. Just placed the fab where it is from the start, then spamming barriers. You will feel the "rhythm" after a few rounds.
Including loadingscreens and returning to lobby, it took me >>3:43.48<<<. :)
Nice and relaxed method if you want to do other things while leveling up (talking on phone, listen to music, podcasts and so on).

I find it hilarious that they patch this immediately so people can't increase their re-up level so quickly (which has zero effect on others), yet do nothing about quitters in Ranked who can get to Diamond (which does affect others) by leaving every match they're losing! Priorities eh?!

You know what's funny? They didn't even reset the leaderboards like they said they would with the title update. The game is also a buggy mess since the title update. They obviously don't care about the health of the game.

@Priit, Yes, it IS funny because that's clearly more important to the game's health than meaningless levels that people were gaining, but they didn't reset the leaderboards. Their priorities aren't in the right place.

@Kexol, Yeah, they said that they're looking to add more value to the season pass.

@Stans, it's because there aren't enough players around your level searching. The player base is already kind of low for a game this big.

Horde Bounties just got a huge increase. 1-50 on insane now gives 75,000xp. 1-50 with any class gets you 50,000 xp.

Doing the Escalation ring boosting, this achievement requires approximately 112,726 "Out from under" ribbons, assuming you start att re-up 2/3 (not really sure when I started, but I think it was around re-up 2/3). Give or take.

Thanks for the xp requirements for each re-up, was looking for those. But the ways of getting xp, bring in very low amounts of xp. Killing yourself to get a certain boss ruins the consecutive waves bonus, which is something one should strive for each game to massively boost the amounts of xp for both multiplayer and class. Thanks for this though, will be referring back to the requirements often!

I already use this but instead of just being killed I wait for ennemies to destroy my barriers ! With wave 50 and bosses your lvl 1 barriers will be quickly send to doom and so you'll be able to collect power from them and build new barriers.

If you haven't good barrier discount you can play a scout with good deposit bonus and global discount of 10%. As you'll collect power from destroyed barriers it will net you a great amount of power (like 25000 + 12500 from the +50% deposit). I never pay attention but is the started power give by start at wave 50 increase if you have the deposit bonus from scout ?

@Stans the only thing I can agree with is the season pass. I've bought it myself and I wish there was more use for it. The matchmaking is not broken though? It's been fairly balanced especially since tu1.

By Kexol on 04 Nov 2016 17:07
The matchmaking is terrible, I'm a silver in everything but I have not had a single game where 3+ Onyxes/Diamonds haven't been on a stacked team and destroyed everyone. I have no desire to play it because I won't get a fair game again, or get any xp/credits for my effort. Also, there is an exploit where a grenade can be planted at spawn that goes off at the start of a round. There is still no quit penalty (even though the box is ticked) so it's rare to even get a match that goes the distance. Matches still start 5v4 and 5v3 although I admit it happens less than it used to.

Not really the place for this, sorry, but the game has let me down so much.

EDIT 3: - Thanks AGAIN to Piyi Piyi for an amazing video showing how to deal with Guardians and how do the boost considering new updates! Check it at the bottom of this solution...

EDIT 2: - Thanks to Piyi Piyi for some tips considering new classes skills!

EDIT 1: After 2017, february 7th update, headshots made by Sniper Strike hability don't count for Headshot I bounty card anymore. You still can earn a good amount of points without the bounty card (about 8,500 PXP) by playing on the new Inconceivable difficulty.

WHAT IT IS: A boost method using Sniper Strike Level 4 skill. This is the fastest way to boost your Player XP and at least Sniper class at the same time. For the others classes, the best way to level up fast is to play during Double XP Events on Developers Playlist. This playlist becomes avaliable for Season Pass owners and their friends in the lobby everytime a new map is lauched (once a month).

HOW LONG IT TAKES: About 3 minutes, including loadings to start the match and to see the scoreboard.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE: It may have changed after so many updates!!!
> About 8,500 PXP = 170,000 Player XP/hour (Sniper player)
> 720 PXP = 14,400 Player XP/hour (Other player)
> 496 CXP = 9,920 Class XP/hour (Both players)
> 74 Cr = 1,480 Cr/hour (Both players)
> Plus 500 Cr after leveling up 5 Player levels (Both players)

WHAT YOU NEED:
> Two controllers OR one friend
> Sniper Strike Level 4 skill card

HOW TO SET:
> Join a second controller or invite a friend. Don't use guests, make sure it's a silver or gold account, so the progress will be saved, even if it's a dummy account. It will make the process easier and faster.

> Go to HORDE > HOST PRIVATE MATCH, select
Map: FOUNDATION
Difficult: INCONCEIVABLE
Wave: 49
Class: SNIPER for you; anyone except Sniper for your partner.

HOW TO DO:
Go to the Fabricator, pick it up and drop it to make the countdown start. Now take it again and move it to the covered area near you.
If you have a second controller, use it to take the other player to the Fabricator and make a deposit. You have at least 54,500 Energy Points now.

As soon the wave starts, use the Sniper Strike skill. Stay near the Fabricator to receive Energy for your kills. It will grant you enough energy to one more strike at the end of the wave.
Wait 4 seconds (usually it is when The Quint ribbon appears) and use it again and again until the wave is completed. Always wait 4 seconds between strikes, to receive the maximum amount of XP. If you don't, you may waste 5,000 PXP due ribbons not being awarded, because you're keeping the same killchain. When you kill the last enemy, pause the game and hit return to lobby option. Wait at the confirmation screen (YES / NO) until the score board (WAVE 49 COMPLETED) appears. Now you can hit YES and leave. Even if sometimes the game shows 0XP and 0cr, you have received. You can check it at Warzornal and Store.

EXTRA TIPS AND UPDATES:
I use Magic Bullet (lvl 4) for Sniper, and I have less problems when Guardians appears in the wave. And for the 2nd account, use a Scout with bonus for deposit, cloak and every HP boost card. When I'm DBNO, I play with the 2nd account (Scout) and I can revive me 99% of the time. And I play wave 50 until I spend all the energy (a little extra EXP)

Piyi Piyi made a video showing this method on Inconceivable with Magic Bullet (bottom of this solution).
If Sentinel spawns, you have these scenarios, from better to worse:
1- You can kill the Sentinel with 1 Sniper Strike (You can kill it only if the shields are down after the spawn)
2- You can kill it using multiple Sniper Strike (AKA playing as always)
3- You can kill it using several Sniper Strike (you spend more energy that a normal wave without Sentinels)
4- You can't kill the Sentinel and you receive less EXP because you fail the wave
- by Piyi Piyi

MAKE TURNS: When you reach level 10 with Sniper, ask a friend to do the boost with you in the same lobby. No friends? Use the dummy silver account that you have used so far and play with it, changing your main account class.
RESULTS: I guess it's the fastest way to work on the most grindy achievements at same time:
Gears of War 4Seriously 4.0The Seriously 4.0 achievement in Gears of War 4 worth 1963 pointsComplete Insane Campaign, ribbons, rank placements, Horde maps, re-ups, classes and five skills

Gears of War 4Please Sir, Can I Have Some More? The Please Sir, Can I Have Some More? achievement in Gears of War 4 worth 522 pointsRe-up ten times

Gears of War 4Stay ClassyThe Stay Classy achievement in Gears of War 4 worth 49 pointsReach level 10 in every launch Horde class

Gears of War 4I'm DrumpfThe I'm Drumpf achievement in Gears of War 4 worth 78 pointsEarn 100000 Credits lifetime

You need to save credits and spend all of them on Horde Boost packs. Of course you need to be lucky but you will eventually find it. Then you can level it up with scraps.

Thanks :)

Now my last research about sentinels:

If 3 sentinels spawns on wave 49, there is a highly chance that:

1- You get less EXP (sentinels always mess around with double to quint ribbons and hat trick ribbon)

2- You can't finish the wave.

Here is the EXP for double to quint ribbons:

Double 100 EXP
Triple 125 EXP
Quad 150 EXP
Quint 175 EXP

What can you do when you have low lvl cards (or have bad luck) and you get with 1 Sniper Strike only "the double" (100 EXP) (or worse, 1 kill (0 EXP))? You can take a risk. If you think that the next Sniper Strike can be as bad as the last one, you can call Sniper Strike as soon as posible, so "the double" is counted and you can get better ribbons.

Example: With 1 Sniper Strike you get only "The Double" (100 EXP), and your next Sniper Strike nets you another "The Double" (100 EXP) (2 Sniper Strike, 200 EXP) (Normal method, waiting a little to call Strike).

The same scenario, but you activate Strike ASAP. You get "The Double" with the 1st Strike (100 EXP) and because you activated Strike ASAP, you get another "The Double", but your first "The Double" counts and you get instead "The Triple" (125 EXP) and "The Quad" (150 EXP) (2 Sniper Strikes, 375 EXP).

(I recommend risk only when you have 0 kills or "The Double"), Risking when you have "The Triple" is 25% chance to get better ribbons, but 75% chances to surpass "The Quint" (with the 2nd Strike you can kill more than 2 enemies) and don't do it with "The Quad".

Sorry for writting a lot, but I want to explain the best way I can the risk method.

Well, it still works just without the 7500 XP bounty card bonus. You can still average 8 to 9000 xp plus 71 credits per wave completed. So until the next Double XP weekend...

So do I get this right: For Wings 1 you need ~ 10.9 million XP, which means you need to do wave 49 almost 1,290 times if you start at Reup 10? That would be 86 hours if you can do one wave within 4 minutes?

Ok so this solution will offer a little bit more XP for the sniper strike method by using the Fortifications 1 bounty since the headshot bounty no longer works with the most recent update.

Use the same set up as the other solutions give by going to wave 49 on casual and along with sniper strike, put on 10% build cost. You will be buying barriers as they are the cheapest and with max build cost they will run you 1,800 power a piece. So with having to build 5 for the bounty, that will cost you 9,000 power, leaving you with 44,500 power to spend on sniper strikes. 44,500 will net you 9 sniper strikes in total, with the final sniper strike only requiring you to pick up a couple hundred power after adding in the power you receive per kill (I only needed between 100-200 power to reach the 5k neccessary). Normally you would get 10 sniper strikes without picking up any additional power so you are only losing out on 1 sniper strike, which if would go perfectly would net you 700xp from ribbons for the double-quint and hat trick ribbon. The Fortifications 1 bounty is worth 2k so right there you are +1,300xp every round which puts you making around 8,500 xp instead of the normal 7k-7.5k xp per round.

I realize it isn't much but it is better than nothing at this point. Hopefully with it being such a little amount of difference, the coalition wont put this as a high priority to patch but I am not holding my breath so get after it while you can.

If there is something you think could be better explained or worded please let me know and i will do my best to update the solution. Hope this helps those who still need those last few re-ups (me lol).

Edit: Add A second Controller to gain a few additional ribbons for some extra xp and better spawning of enemies. Thanks to C2DWELL for that addition.

Happy hunting

I have a solution for those who enjoy the grind and are looking for another speedrun.dance

As of today, August 27, 201, the coalition patched War Machine and Foundation. My video below will show you exactly how to speedrun the map blood drive. It takes roughly an hour, it's fairly new so feel free to try it and modify it to make it faster.

What you will need;

2x Scout
2x Engineer
1x Soldier

28 Aug 2017 02:00

I found this to be a pretty solid and somewhat quick method to getting 10 re-ups.

Go into a private horde match. Choose whatever map you enjoy most, I personally used Gridlock.

Difficulty: Casual- I increased to normal with stronger skill cards.

Enemy type: Juvie madness

Class: Soldier or Scout, I'd recommend scout as they can take more damage. I used the following skills, health boost, shotgun damage, brawler, rage and health regeneration boost. Its okay if you don't have all these skill cards, the main three to focus on are health boosts, shotgun damage and brawler.

Bounty: You will want to buy the bounty Kills II it's only 40 scrap and nets you 25,000EXP.

The key is to play the first 5 rounds, you will earn the bounty Kills 2 by round 5. Once you have completed round 5 quit to lobby equip bounty kills 2, and rinse and repeat. Starting fresh from a re-up at level 1, the first time doing this will put you from level 1 to level 19/20.

It does become less the higher your level but if you grind for about 2/3 hours you can easily reach around levels 50-60. The only 'difficult' part of this will be the boss wave, some of them can be irritating, I'm looking at you dropshot enemies but if you play on casual it wont be too challenging. Over the past few days I have gained my last few re-ups and got to my tenth re-up.

Any questions or issues put a comment below! Happy hording!

In other words, you need to gain 15,000,000 experience. At the moment, the easiest way to gain experience is to play during the year on madness, with an activated reward for completing the first to 50 waves (+75,000 experience)

At the beginning of each month, the developers add new maps for horde and confrontation (only Horde is needed). Maps are added in a separate Horde menu item "Developer List". Only Season Pass owners can “test” these maps; they are set to “high” difficulty and come with a 2x experience bonus and a gold bonus. It's best to swing in it.
