How to unlock the Iron Fist achievement in Gears of War: Judgment - Definitive Guide
At the moment of speaking, I'm up to Cole's Testimony on Hardcore. Here's a couple of pointers.
1. It's not as hard as previous games. Gears 1, 2 and 3 had less enemies on screen, but as a result, Hardcore and Insane were a lot more difficult. The sheer number of enemies in Judgment has reduced the actual damage they do, but you should still remain on your toes. To give you an indication, I'm playing solo with the AI friends, and doing just fine.
2. You can go down an infinite amount of times and be revived by your buddies. So don't be terrified of taking too many hits.
3. Watch out for tickers. These bastards will swipe down most of your health when they explode, and may even incap you straight away. Same goes for enemies with short range weapons (Butchers, Theron's with Cleavers). Anything that needs to get close to kill should be taken out from far distance (or you should grab that Gnasher and deal with it fast).
4. AI is still dumb, so grab that shotgun and deal with those hammerburst drones fast while they circle randomly.
5. There's plenty of ammunition around, so use those frags up. Speaking of which, always plug those E-holes early unless you want to deal with lots of grubs (on that note, I'm going for every de-classified mission there is and trying to get all stars on every section, so if you find yourself restarting the section because you aren't getting the stars, DONT plug the e-holes. Those extra enemies will let you boost that rating to the third tile).
Hope that helps. With a bit of patience and good luck, you'll be there in no time.

Do you unlock this achievement if you do it in co-op

Yes, I am currently doing it with a friend and it unlocks Co-op and any lower difficulty achievement.
