Zen and the Art Part 2

Zen and the Art Part 2

Perform 5 perfect active reloads in a row (on any difficulty)

20

How to unlock the Zen and the Art Part 2 achievement in Gears of War - Definitive Guide

An 'active reload' is when you press RB to reload, then press RB again when the vertical line is in the white area of the line underneath your ammo. Stopping it in the white area gets you a damage bonus too.

Get 5 active reloads in a row to earn this achievement.

This is the best way to do this one. Good one Psycho Joe 1!

This has to be in the white area. Grey doesn't count.

I got it at the last part of act 2 (as there are plenty of enemies) with the sniper rifle, which you have to reload after every shot.

I found if you pause a couple of seconds between reloads the gun image in the upper right would disappear and hitting reload would give you a larger white box again. At first, I did them too quickly and found the white area was getting progressively smaller.

Also every time you do a perfect active reload, switch guns after each reload so the white bar doesn't get smaller. For example if you attempt to get the 5 active reloads on the Lancer the perfect reload box gets smaller and smaller making it tougher. But if you change guns after each perfect reload (say to the snub pistol) the perfect reload box stays the same, making it easier for new gamers!

like the others say, stop it in the veritcal white area with the RB... to make it easier switch weapons... do one or two the the chainsaw gun, then swithch over to the pistol and do a couple and then switch over to the sniper rifle...

this makes the areas as large as possible, which in turns make it easier to stop in the area... i learned this after many attempts with the chainsaw gun... just keep trying and you should be able to get it... not too difficult

I did this in the local multiplayer matches, whilst I was waiting on another achievement playing annex. That way I was able to take my time and also avoid boredom. (nobody shooting at me)

To do an active reload:
Click RB to start slider and Click again to stop the slider in the white area - a small vertical stripe the beginning of a larger bar of light grey located under your ammo (upper right of screen).
If you get it right the gun/ammo will flash white.
If it's wrong it'll either just reload or flash red if you are early.

I used the pistol because you can do a reload after one shot and there are 48 bullets, so plenty to use to get this.

Fire one bullet from the pistol and do an active reload.
Basically the same for the next reload only the area to stop the slider in is smaller this time.

For the third active reload I like to fire a few bullets off, which will make the active reload area *big* again. ;) With just one bullet it's a pretty small area now.

And so on.

You can also switch out to another gun and fire off a burst before reloading that weapon, that will also regenerate the size of the active reload area (*the vertical white stripe).

Basically to regenerate the size of the reload area fire more bullets than you reloaded previously. So if you were to do this achievement with a automatic weapon, fire in bursts, starting with a short burst, and making each burst bigger than the last reload.

Follow my video, for you reload you need press cn_RB. Then press cn_RB again when the vertical line is in the white area of the line underneath your ammo.

As said in "Zen and the Art of Reloading", mastering this isn't all too difficult, but doing it perfectly 5 times in a row can be tricky. Stand still in a clear area and shoot one bullet off, then try to do an Active Reload. Once you hit it 5 times in a row, you'll get this achievement.
