How to unlock the 'Tis the Season achievement in Gems of War - Definitive Guide

To get this achievement you must Equip a Medal of Seasons. (see 4/26/22 edit at the bottom for clarification.)

Once you have the medal, at the Kingdom screen, scroll up to the top and select one of the 3 medal slots, this will open up your Badges and Medals menu, and select the Medal of Seasons to equip it to one of the 3 slots.

The achievement will pop after you do this (may have to exit the Badges and Medals menu and go back to the Kingdom screen to register).

These new medals were introduced in Title Update 18. According to the Patch Notes for this update:

With Invasion and Raid Bosses reaching a point where all Kingdoms and Troop Types have had a turn, we’ve looked to what’s next for Live Events and how will this affect Gems of War going forward. We have implemented a new Event system that will slowly replace the existing events (except for Guild Wars), and that will allow us to expand on the Krystara story in a new way. This new system has been designed to allow us more flexibility in how we create and run events, so we can try to keep events feeling more fresh and diverse.

New events, in some ways, have a similar structure to Invasions, Raid Bosses, and Towers of Doom.

New Events will have new special Event Medals, Badges and Tokens. These can be earnt from some Reward Stages and will also be available in the Event Shop. These Medals will be good for the event they are given in, and at the end of that event will convert to Medals, Badges and Tokens of Seasons, (a new Medal in this update) so you can use them to gain Elite Levels on your Troops.
So in order to obtain a Medal of Seasons you will have to play the new Guild Event and either spend Gems in the Event Shop or earn the rewards to get Tokens, which like any other Tokens earned through Explore, you will need 9 of to create the Medal.

3 Tokens become 1 Badge, 3 Badges become 1 Medal. And per the Patch Notes, at the end of the Guild Event, any event Tokens, Badges, or Medals you have earned will be converted into a Token, Badge, or Medal of Seasons.

Gems of War has dubbed these weekly Guild Events as World Events and will be based on a different Kingdom each time, and will have a different objective and scoring method so be sure you check the Overview screen when the event starts to see what you should do to earn points so you can redeem rewards (and get tokens).

As this is Guild based, if you are not in an active Guild, then you will probably not earn a lot of points to redeem the rewards as you need to complete at least 11 of the 12 reward stages.

With that in mind, the easiest way to get the medal is to save up your Gems and buy the packs from the Guild Event Shop. I had to buy the first 4 Tiers in the shop to get enough tokens to make the medal. You will need 500 Gems to buy the first 4 Tiers. You will get 10 Tokens from this, which is enough to make 1 medal.

Tier I gave 1 Token
Tier II gave 2 Tokens
Tier III gave 3 Tokens
Tier IV gave 4 Tokens

I didn't bother going past this as I felt it was a waste of Gems, but if you have an overabundance, you can repeatedly buy the last tier, Tier 7, and keep getting tokens, but you have to buy the first 6 Tiers first.

If you want to read the Patch Notes in full, they can be found here: https://gemsofwar.com/4-8-update-2/

EDIT 3/23/20: I can confirm that the tokens, badges, or medals you obtain during the event do convert to a Seasons version after the event ends.

EDIT 3/28/20: Made some adjustments to the solution with currently available info.

EDIT 8/16/20 - With the update that introduced campaigns. The previous event system was replaced with a new one. The specific events that you earned the required tokens/medals in are now weekly instead of every 3-4 weeks, so you can earn this medal more frequently now. So I removed old info from the solution as it no longer applies.

EDIT 4/26/22 - As confirmed by planchetflaw in the comments, this achievement will not unlock if you are already using a Badge of Seasons in one of the 3 medal slots and it then upgrades to a Medal of Seasons. You will need to unequip the medal by replacing it with another medal or badge, exiting out and then re-equipping it or switch to one of the other preset medal sets (you have 3 and you use LT or RT to switch between them in the medal menu) to equip the Medal of Seasons in a fresh slot with no medal.

In that image what you have equipped is a Medal of Summer. That is not a Medal of Seasons which is why it isn't working. In the corner of that image though you will see the Badge of Seasons, you need 3 of those to make a medal.

If that is the current Guild Event medal (I haven't played Gems since the last one), then when the event ends, that Medal of Summer (and any other Tokens/Badges of Summer you have) will convert over to a Medal of Seasons (and Tokens/Badges of Seasons). You will permanently lose the Medal of Summer as they are only valid during the event, but once the event ends you will have a Medal of Seasons.

It will unequip if you are currently using the Medal of Summer when the event ends (as it disappears/converts), so you'll just need to go back into the Medal menu and equip the Medal of Seasons then. At that time the achievement should pop.

DrSchlepenstein is exactly right, ReniuPL. You haven't equipped a Medal of 'Seasons'. It's a specific Medal that actually has that name. Try again next Monday, once your Event medals convert to 'Seasons' medals.

EDIT: I just saw that you answered. Sorry for the redundancy!

An update might have messed with something. Have you tried unequipping all medals doing a couple of fights and restarting the game without any equipped and then going an equipping a Medal of Seasons?

I know it sounds dumb, but you said you already had 1 equipped and it sounds like it was a Badge that you then upgraded. So the game may not be registering that you equipped a medal and thinks that it is still a badge.

If that doesn't work, then you may have to submit a bug report to Gems of War Support and see if they can look into it.

Thanks for confirming that planchetflaw as I figured that's what was going on when DJ Stotty said he was having issues. It must have glitched out during 1 of the many title updates since the medals were introduced. It doesn't register the medal as being "equipped" if you were already using a badge in the 1 of the 3 medal slots and it then upgraded. I'll add this info to the solution.

I advanced to the Medal of Seasons today. Badge of Seasons was already equipped so it automatically changed to Medal from Badge. 100% 'Medal of Seasons' which is the third evolution of Token of Seasons (Token x3 - Badge x3 - Medal).

The achievement hasn't unlocked. I've entered and exited the badges and medals page etc.

How do you unequip these? I only have 2 (medal of seasons and medal of Yasmine) and can't see an option to remove them.

Edit: So to get it to pop, I had to use the second and/or third swappable storage set of three slots (RB/LB changes spaces in a storage slot, RT/LT changes the set). So if anyone comes across this issue themselves these days, go into the Badges and Medals section, and press RT to change to a fresh slot of 3. You can't unequip or change out the Medal in the first slot if you only have 3 or less medals to choose from.

Slight oversight in the programming there for the game.

DUBBLEUP, are you sure you have equipped the Medal? If you're not sure how to equip medals, go to the very top of the screen (when you're looking at the map; you might have to push 'Y' first) where you see 3 diamond-shaped slots. This is where you can equip Badges and Medals (not Tokens). Push 'A' on any slot, and you can choose which items to equip (it might be helpful to include this in the solution, since Badges and Medals are fairly new, and not the most intuitive thing to use).
If you have already equipped it, are you sure it's a Medal (rather than a Badge)? As DrSchlepenstein explained, you must get 3 Tokens to create a Badge, but you need 3 Badges to create a Medal (for a total of 9 Tokens). When you go to equip it, make sure it says 'Medal' and not 'Badge'.
If you have done all of this, the only thing left is to make sure it's actually a Medal of 'Seasons'. You would only have these if you participated in the 'Council of Chiefs' event, last week, and earned (or bought) enough Tokens for a Medal. After the event ended, you would get an in-game message with the new 'Seasons' Medal attached. Claim it, equip it, achievement.
I hope that helps someone.
