The three diseases you will encounter are Shrooms, Zot and Helix.
These can get onboard via the Hangar or the Tractor beam.

All disease patches can cause crew that pass over/near to become sick. They will stop work and head to the nearest quarters to recover. On their way to the quarters they will lose health, walk as if in a daze and sneeze. Each time they sneeze a disease sample, which looks like a pink biomass, will fall to the floor; collect 10 samples for each disease in order to research them.
Research all three disease in the Medical Research module to unlock the achievement.
