The easiest way to farm Mechanics is in the Hangar.
Locate a planet where Mechanics spawn and send down an expedition team.
Wait for it to return and it should bring back ~2-5 Mechanics with it.
Rinse and repeat until the achievement pops.
Artefacts and strategies to make the process easier:
-Alien Location - Mechanics
-Harvester Speed Upgrade
-An energy barrier either side of Harvester entrance to keep them penned either side of the Harvester
- ~4 Turrets or 2x
behind the barriers, one each side of Harvester entrance
