Here's my best loadout that took me to the end and ordered by what to prioritize upgrading:
1. Fat Beam (Main DPS)
2. Blast Shield (Survivability)
3. Force Field (AOE Slow)
4. Auto Aim (Kills close enemies)
5. Penetragon (Secondary DPS)
6. Orbiters (Creates distance between enemies and pairs well with Force Field)
Strategy:
Upgrade Fat Beam when you can because it's your main DPS by a large margin. When it activates, spin around in circles and it will clear everything in its reach.
Blast Shield is a must to keep you in the game when something random lands a hit. Make sure you grab the most hearts you can in the shop.
Force Field lasts a while when it's up, and you can sit in it while enemies converge on your position. You spin around with the Fat Beam and grab the XP pips while hiding inside.
All the other weapons help with DPS but do a fraction of the work. They're mainly there to supplement. You can probably switch them out, but I prefer Orbiters because they create a spinning barrier late game that's almost always up, adding to survivability.
Here's a breakdown of DPS from a run I did:
1. Fat Beam: 12,396
2. Penetragon: 4,656
3. Auto Aim: 2,961
4. Orbiters: 1,312
