Should you die, the alarm resets back to one so, to avoid this, before triggering the alarm just save & quit then continue. If you happen to die, before the "connection lost" shows in the screen, pause then exit game (do not choose save & quit). You'll restart at the same place where you saved&quit, at same alarm level you were before dying and without losing your items/powerups.
