How to unlock the Are You A God? achievement in Ghostbusters: The Video Game - Definitive Guide

You can get this achievement after finishing the game on another difficulty. After you have beat the game, if you go back through and just replay through the last chapter of each act you will unlock this achievement when you beat the final boss. When I did this I also made sure to cover a little after the bosses of each act, like if they go back to the station then do whatever you need to do so they end up going to the next level. For each of the last chapters, which are the 7 boss fights, I would suggest using strategies found in the above posters' solutions.

Using this strategy you bypass a lot of the hardest sections and save a tremendous amount of time and frustration.

Edit: If you're having problems getting this to work, consult the comments to this solution.

Can anyone confirm this? I just finished all 7 final boss fights and no achievement came up? I did what other original posted said and waited well into the next level before I backed out to the main screen. Does it matter if you do it out of order? That's the only thing I did different. I beat Stay Puft before Slimer & the 2 bell hops.

Ok, I figured out what I did wrong. You need to start at the very beginning (chapter "You're Hired") and finish the training level first on Professional difficulty. Then keep playing until you exit the elevator in the hotel. Then follow Der Roi's instructions above.

The "AI" is stupid in this game because they die so easy and you gotta go to revive them.

I agree with ADrtanSaysD1e, the A! just can't cope, constantly playing medic, running between them uselessly getting downed (third boss currently, in Libary). Surely the difficuly should be increased for the player alone..

I didnt think this was that hard at all actually. Maybe I got lucky, the harder bosses only took a handful of tries. Once I put the analog sensitivity all the way up, it was much easier to beat. And the Stone Angel gate part took one try, compared to my 100 on experienced. AI seems smarter too. (I beat this from start to finish)

When I did the training level on professional it wiped all my progress and I now have nothing on my reply missions :( This may be related to the update. This no longer works.

To make it perfectly clear.

THE TRAINING MISSION CAN BE SELECTED AS THE FIRST CHECKPOINT IN CHAPTER 1, "YOU'RE HIRED"

I missed it myself for some reason.

Tried this solution on PS3 and it works. You need to beat the training chapter "You're hired" and all the last chapters of each level, and play through the firehouse in-between levels. If you do all the bosses and forget to do the training, simply do the training chapter and then fight the last boss again. VOILA!

So i only need to go to single player - replay mission - select the last checkpoint on professional - and when i kill /or caught the boss i just go back to the Ghostbusters's HQ/ or the next chapters begining and exit... and i do it again again and again with every boss... and i also complete the training misson ...
so that's all right?

Yes, it worked, thanks, notice that you can also get "The Destructor" if you repeat levels in museum for example to "earn" 3.000.000 dolars in propietay damage, then when you beat "the architect" you get both of them chivos.

Worked perfectly. Although, you really should add to the solution to make it clear that you also need to replay You're Hired from the Replay Mission menu. Solution is deeply flawed without that detail that we were able to pull from the comments. Just won't work without that.

Now I find this out...I played through the entire game on Professional difficulty!
To be honest, in order to save time these days, I start all of my games on the highest difficulty possible now and learn the ropes as I go.

I can confirm this still works 5/9/12!~

Just be sure to do the Tutorial "You're Hired" Play til you get out of the elevator in the hotel then quit to main menu it will save somehow trust me. Then make sure you do the end boss as well in the first chapter then from then on keep doing the last chapter of every level so pretty much 7 bosses to defeat. The end boss is easy use your Mason gun right D-Pad Right trigger it's so much faster. There is a wall there where when he trys throwing rocks at you he'll hit the wall instead you just gotta watch out for his fire attacks. Should be pretty simple. :] It was for me the only hard boss was Azetlor at the Library level. Good Luck it's not too hard. Youtube videos will help if you get stuck. Thanks for the guide!

To earn this achievement, "Are you A God", you need to beat professional difficulty, however, that is not as easy as it sounds.

First off, let me just say, that worrying about your health status is only important if you are alone without any other ghostbusters, or you are partnered up with Ray (Dan Ackroyd), as Ray's A.I. build is lazy.

Professional difficulty isn't that much more difficult than the Medium difficulty, but there are a few parts that may get you stuck.

-------

The 3rd boss battle in the library fighting the collector can be a pain. My suggestions are as follows:

- When you first start the battle, switch to your Slime sprayer, and spray the collector's mask as normal.

- When Egon says "All Clear" Run back to where you originally started and switch to your Proton Pack. Pull of the collector's mask using the capture steam (LB).

- Now, start using the Blast power on the proton pack (LT) and fire on the collector's face. If he comes near you, jump in the portal on the left or right and you will be teleported to the other side of the map. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!

- Keep beaming him and venting your pack. If Egon or Ray fall, DO NOT REVIVE THEM. Luckily, the game does not force you to pick up your teammates, so just forget about them, and focus on the boss. I suggest this, because they'll only stand in one place and get knocked down again.

--------

The 4th boss battle under the museum, facing the guy in the sewer like area can be difficult do to limited area of movement.

To easily beat this battle, when you first walk up to the platform where the battle starts, Destroy all the sides that can be destroyed to prevent the boss from taking cover.

Next, aim for the yellow ball on the bosses chest when he pops up, using the LT shooter on the new gun you received when you entered the basement. (It's the gun bound to Right on the D-Pad)

If the boss starts to throw blue like balls at you, STRAFE to the right, and you'll avoid them, this is extremely important as it causes instant death 90% of the time.

If your teammates fall down, revive them. When the pink portals open, close them using your slime gun. Then focus on the boss again.

-----------

The final thing that might make beating professional difficulty difficult, is the part in the cemetery level in which you must use your slime tether to slam flame stone angels into a gate wall....

My advice is to forget about using the slime tether, and use the proton capture steam (LB) and the slam ability (LT). Keep strafing in an oval shape in the middle of the area, facing the gate where the Ecto 1 is (The car). When Peter (Bill Murray) says: "12 O' Clock High" This means the angels have spawned, look up above the gate, and you should see them (They're on fire).

Grab one and slam it straight down into the gate. You need to do this 5 times total for the gate to break open. You will know you have 3 successful hits if Winston says "Its almost there".

If RAY falls, do not revive him, he's a waste of time, and 95% of the time you get to the "Revive" status, he doesn't pick you up.

----------

Believe it or not, the last boss battle, is actually strangely easy on the hardest difficulty, just as long as you do not revive the other ghostbusters, and focus on the mayor by proton pack'ing him, and then using the ball rocket (LT) on the Proton Pack to destroy the green crystals when they reveal themselves.

Then when you have to fight the architect, just shoot him with the Mason gun (RIght on D-Pad), using the Right Trigger attack. Shoot three times, then vent, and repeat. When he enters the middle hole, he tries to recharge, just shoot the vase looking things to the north, south, east, and west, and he won't recharge, then repeat until his health is gone for the achievement!

--------

So following those tips for those difficult parts, just play through the game as normal, and you should get this achievement pretty easily...

When fighting Ivo Shandor in the cemetary before you go to the Ghostworld version of the Cathedral, you don't have to wait for those green shield crystals to reveal themselves, you can pull them open with the Slime Tether, and then blasting the crystal with a power weapon like the Boson Dart or the Meson Collider.

Thank you very much, it was a very helpful guide...
Using the meson collider for Shandor (the final boss) is the best strategy... i tried it 4 times with the proton stream and boson darts but i failed.. then i tried the meson collider and it worked for the first time and only took 4-5 minutes... i stucked at Azelator but with this tactic i finished him in10 minutes..
So thanks a lot!! I'm glad of you! :)

thank you for the amazing tip for Shandor.... repeatedly trying to do it with the Proton Pack had me SO MAD. I did Azetlor on my second try, but was on my seventh try on the last boss... died EVERY TIME when he had one last sliver of health and there were a billion gargoyles and rocks flying around one shotting my retard team mates. The 1-2-3 punch with the Meson Collider was a million times better. Thanks again!

Stone angels tip for anyone that's stuck, if you retreat into the tunnel that you just came from you can grab angels and slam them down in the approximate area of the gate, 9/10 times they hit it. You can't see the gate, so it's a trade off, but only 2 or 3 of the angels can come at you down there, and the little creatures take forever to figure out you are there. So if you can't knock this out the regular way, try this. Good solution Lodoss

The guide to the 'hard' parts on professional above is pretty accurate, I'll just add my thoughts on it and some other suggestions:

I had a ton of trouble with the Opera singers in the Times Square mission and found that it was easy to focus on them at the start then as soon as the flaming golems came, immediately turn my attention to them, take them out with the slam, then turn back to the opera singers.

When fighting the Collector, I found it useful to revive my teammates, as it allowed me the time to blast the eye while he was distracted. That being said, using the back and forth portal warp worked great to keep a distance. Even then, it's very difficult.

As far as the Stone Angel part is concerned...there's no easy way to do it. Slime Tether was MUCH easier than the Proton Pack to slam the Angels into the gate. I'd wait until they charged, side step, then tether them into the gate. It is god damn hard and took me 90 minutes to actually succeed. It definitely requires a bit of luck.

Those are the most difficult parts, some overall tips:

- In any battle, always keep moving. If you've played first/third person shooters before and are familiar with the value of strafing, it should come in plenty handy here. As soon as you stand still, you're finished.

- Use your proton stream/dark matter generator/mason collider's stream to your advantage; ie - get used to the timing on the streams. If you can fire six seconds consecutively without overheat, fire the Proton stream (RT) for the first 4, then a Boson Dart (LT) at the end of the stream, maximizing damage. Your stream runs out anyways, make full use of it.

- Whenever possible, manually cool your proton pack, it's quicker than the overheat function (similar to manual reload vs. auto reload in games).

- Come to the realization that your AI teammates are quite stupid but are very accurate at times and if you revive them, they'll do the same for you. I found no point in the game where not reviving them served me better.

- You'll have plenty of money to buy all the powerups about halfway through the game and many of them are worth it - the fast trap/slam dunk upgrades, as well as the proton stream/boson dart upgrades are the first purchases. The PKE scanner can go last.

- Overall, outside of the select few rage inducing parts described above, the game should flow fairly smooth and you'll have yourself 100G more by the end of it!

I just want to say that the above guides from Der Roi and Lodoss Indeross were right on the money. I just received the achievement not 10 minutes ago, the whole process took me about an hour.

The only exception to the guides was that i played for about 10 minutes after each boss just to make sure the game registered the battles. Always go to the next level after defeating the boss just dont quit.

You get this cheevo from completing the game on what is considered Hard. The game itself isn't neccessarily hard, frustrating in parts, but as long as you keep moving and use the right weapon, it's cake. You can play it on Hard from the beginning and unlock the previous difficulty achievements as well. There are parts that will make you smash your controller into the ground. As there are groups of ghosts or enemies and they all seem to gang up on you. Here's a few tips to help you avoid a restart checkpoint and a load of frustration. Spoilers for those that still haven't completed this game

1. Make sure to keep the other GhostBusters with you on their feet. If there's only 2 in your "party" keep them up as they will help you substantially in getting back up once you go down. Sometimes they took a little too long to get me back up, but there was never a time they did not revive me. They may just stand there and take the blasts/hits or whatever but there is so much going on in the game at any given time that more coding probably would have broken it. And besides they're incredibly accurate and do more than just stand around, they'll shoot and trap as well

2. Do not be afraid to find a safe place to hide and let your health bar recharge, or to keep moving so that you can get some health back

3. Boson dart, Boson dart, Boson dart. Use it as much as you possibly can(this will also help get The destructor cheevo as you will be blowing anything near the ghosts to kingdom come). Use it twice then the Proton Stream then twice more before manually venting your pack

4. Use the Dark Matter Generator's Shock Blast if the ghost/enemies are close, otherwise it dissipates in medium to long distances

5. Always keep on the move, and dodge constantly. If you're standing still, you're on your back. And if you're on your back with your Pack Sputterin it's probably restart checkpoint time

6. When you are in a Boss Fight, know what to do. All of the bosses are not blast and trap. The Librarian has a shield, The Collector has a mask protecting him. Know what they can do to you and what protects them from your weapons. And always keep on the move, if you can't get to the others then don't worry about them just keep yourself alive

6-B. When you fight the Collector it is easy to get overwhelmed in this fight, as he ground pounds and makes shards jut up under your feet, he runs right up in your face and ground pounds you into the air and sends hordes of minions after you. He has teleporters scattered around his "lair" stay near one that puts you on the opposite side at all times

7. When you are in a boss fight always keep the other GhostBusters on their feet. Stop what you are blasting unless it's almost finished, run over to the other guys and pick them up. You do not want to have a boss 3/4 of the way done, the other guys go down, and you go down too.

8. You can recover on your own given enough time, if no one picks you up. But it doesn't matter if you can recover if everyone else is already down. It is instant restart checkpoint time. a good idea is to stand close to the others or at least one of the other GhostBusters to at least keep one other person on their feet

9. Learn and perfect slamming a ghost into a trap, do it every time you have to trap a ghost, it saves a load of time

10. Learn to use the Dark Matter Generator's Stasis Stream and then toss a trap right under the ghost. This saves even more time. freeze a ghost, trap a ghost

11. When you get to the cemetery before Ecto-1 gets herself fried(thanks Winston great idea) you start off the level with just Ray then go to 3 out of 5 and then all 5. This entire level is exceedingly frustrating and may make you smash your controller, It took me numerous tries just to get past the part where you have to open the gate, and then even more in the courtyard right before the final Boss Fight. The Slime Tether is barely useful and it can be hard to catch onto an enemy that zips all over the place. Slime Tether the gate first then look up and tether one of them when they're just floating there. If the reticule shows that something is there it may just be too far away. I got extremely lucky this way as they were off in the distance when I got 2. You will take a load of damage trying to do this, stay near ray and keep Ray on his feet. You do not want to repeat this part

12. At first I didn't use the Meson Collider because I wasn't really sure how to correctly use it. As Egon explains the Meson Collider shot "paints" a target on an enemy and then the Overload Pulse "hones" in on that target. It is one of the most powerful attacks in the game and should be used as often as possible on destructible enemies. Paint and blast and you can freely move around. It is so accurate it'll target Shandor's Destructor form when he goes behind "buildings" in the ghost world. Manually vent the pack often as the Meson Collider is very powerful and causes the pack to generate a lot of heat, very quickly

Ugh, with the save glitch this was awful to get, but I do have a trick that'll help with the later levels. Basically, combine the Slime Tether with the Slam Dunk trap. This way you can tether the Cultists and other high level ghosts and put them directly in the trap regardless of their remaining HP. This is maybe the only way you can get out of the cemetery with the Grave Monster/multiple cultists and the section before the Keystone Golems.

Also, prepare for a ton of frustration in the Times Square level, as I think they added ghosts from the previous difficulties. I won that by luck and attrition, and it was kind of an ugly stage and nearly resulted in me throwing the controller through the window.

• In the second episode of "Panic in Times Square", having caught two ghosts of opera singers, first destroy the stone gargoyles, then the ghosts with Molotov cocktails, and only after them begin to exhaust and catch the third opera diva. (I spent an hour passing this checkpoint)

At the “Checking Out the Library” level, it’s better to fight the final boss yourself and if he drops your teammates, don’t revive them, it’s useless! Just dodge his blow while the boss is accelerating and shoot him with an alternative attack of a regular laser (energy balls)
