How to unlock the Catalog Conqueror achievement in Ghostwire: Tokyo - Definitive Guide

the hardest part of this for me was getting the yokai to spawn that i needed 3 of and the 20 cats. At a glance the list of challenges will seem rather daunting but i do want you all to know it is very manageable. In the Spider thread mode it is essentially a roguelite version of the game. all skills transfer between runs and any crafted bracelet is permanent you can sell the bracelets you receive between every 3 level sets (they will be at the bottom of the list at the bracelet crafting merchant) this will help you stockpile thread faster to craft things you want to try using or to save up for the big 1 hit 1 kill bracelet. the first goal you should have is to level yourself up to 50 as fast as you can. in some cases it will be run straight to the end of the level. i didn't get to level 50 until shortly after my 1st successful run. doing so unlocks the abillity to craft an everything dies in 1 hit INCLUDING YOU (outside of certain enemies that have phases and one rare mob that shows up if you stay in a zone for too long) this is essential to getting the remaining tasks completed after your first run completion (if not before). There wasn't much to go off of for information i will say however i got my 20th cat on floor 67 or 68 and that was the hardest part for me as the spawn rates for cats are frustratingly low. however there seems to be certain areas where they will spawn and not in others. all of the levels are something that can be memorized unlike a normal roguelite so it leaves you with the ability to know where things will be and what enemies spawn where. i will say that the game does save progress between each 3 levels when you reenter the hub so no need to feel like you have to play for hours to get things done. when going for challenges i recommend using these 4 bracelets.

IMPORTANT SET UP FOR COMPLETING THE JOBS (minimum level 50)
1 hit 1 kill for everyone bracelet
low gravity bracelet (maxed)
Movement speed bracelet (maxed lvl 5) / bracelet that lets you find yokai or see souls further away (as a swap in swap out as needed when figuring out the spawns for the yokai in each area they spawn. Note they are static spawns that will never change location in that specific area)

charge fire shot helps clear out large areas of enemies with the insta kill bracelet and the wind shots i used for any solo enemies. this will take time and none of the list is particularly hard just a lot and i mean A LOT of random chance. this is why goal number 1 should be getting your 3 bracelets or 4 if you want that extra help finding yokai spawns. it is hit or miss though unfortunately it does not help much with the wall yokai or the umbrella one. i do apologize for the long post as well as if someone was hoping for exact how to on every part of the list.

Just need the Yokai and the cats now. I wish they didn’t add those tedious jobs based on random chance.
The one hit kill beads do make most levels incredibly easy so you can breeze through levels very quickly to speed this up.
Great game overall, didn’t expect to like it as much as I do.

If you die quickly press the pause button before the death animation is finished and close the game. When reloading you should be back at your last save before you died.

One is complete 30 without taking damage and the other is completing up to floor 30 without taking damage which would be the first 30 floors wording may make it iffy but safe bet do not take damage on 30th floor

Having just completed this I can say that all the cats have the chance of spawning before level 30, I just got my 20th on floor 28. But man was this mode a pain in the ass.

A "trick" to save you trouble is to save in the rest area (where all the cats are), enter the next floor and if no cat or Yokai appears you can close the game and reload, this way you can force their appearance, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, it's very random.

Last Achievement I need for the game! I think they need to make use of that praying box and do something like increase spawn chance for certain Yokai. I'm at max level and about to unlock all skills. No point in gaining anymore XP and little use for Nekomata Koban after getting all skills.

By LaTrickster2 on 21 Apr 2023 23:11
big thing to remember is the Giant White Dimitrescu ladys with the hole in her face and spawn a brown corruption all over the map cant be killed with the 1 shot 1 kill beads. i dont know if she can be killed at all never tried.
Same with the little raincoat boys they cant be killed shooting them even with 1shot 1 kill just Alerts them and brings more baddy's.
Dieing with the cat causes you to lose the cat you need to make it to the Cat Paw for the cats to save and if you lucky you can have more then one cat spawn on each 3 floor sets. So if your super lucky you can get 3 cats before hitting the Cat PAw.

By keoskey on 23 Apr 2023 20:37
At best you could only get two cats because the third wave is always a boss wave, but even that would be insanely lucky.
Getting these cats to spawn sucked. It took me 21 hours to get them all, and I ended up with over 100k nekomata koban and 60+ spirit thread (even after buying and upgrading all the beads).

By Karachi King on 23 Apr 2023 21:20
Use the spirit perception beads to get a waypoint straight to the cats.
They also help find Yokai, spirits and spirit thread. The line will go to whatever closest usually so as you narrow down the objectives you’ll eventually be left with just the cat for it to do a waypoint too.
5 Yokai and 5 cats to go!

Btw, does anyone know what the prayer box is used for in cat HQ?
I’ve never been able to pray at it, I was hoping you could pray to see a certain Yokai show up in the next level.

I believe cats are level specific and the more you collect the harder to find the remaining. You’ll just have to keep running the rounds until a new location appears.

the lady that spawns the corruption can be killed as i have killed her but only without the 1 shot 1 kill beads active as like you said can not be killed with 1 hit. it took waaaay too much ammo though so i would not recommend bothering as you really dont get anything special for it either.

By FairWoe on 27 Apr 2023 08:01
yellow ether floors really just boil down to being lucky but if you speedrun levels as fast as you can it should speed up the time it takes to find said levels as for the cats i recommend running far past level 30 till you hear the meow at a level as i do honestly believe its not 100% chance to obtain it in the first 30 levels just keep going up till you get lucky

By Not MJC on 27 Apr 2023 10:00
Also having trouble with the Yellow Ether Floors. Only one I have left. You can get to 100 floors without seeing a single one. Terrible RNG on them as well. Anyone have any tips on how to get these floors to spawn without just pure luck & speed running?

EDIT: found the RNG to be painfully unhelpful after floor 30 in regards to the Yellow Tether Floors. Floors 1-30 seemingly have better chances at a floor being a Yellow Tether one. Speed run 1-30 a couple times you should get it quicker.

It took me about 30 hours to complete the Catalog and like IPlayGamesUK I spent a lot of time looking for that one last cat. For anyone who's just starting this mode, make sure to keep track of which floors you collect cats from so that you're not left wondering which floor you need to reroll. [I wasn't sure so I rerolled 7-8 a few times, then 10-11, then 13-14, etc. And of course the last cat I needed was on 29.]

so if i remember correctly level 21 is the 2 phase fight with the boss you fight relatively early on but he comes back again as a more beefy 2 phase boss right? if that the case theres a timing to it i think its something like 2 seconds or 3 seconds after the shield drops just attack with a wind or charge fire ball and he should just die. it can be timed to a point where you can just hit him before he attacks after his shield drops but as i haven't played since i completed the game i wouldnt be able to accurately recall the timing just that attacking when the shield drops as fast as you can and counting the time just counting 1 Mississippi 2 mississippi until it takes damage from your attacks can help to set you up for future success on that boss. it became muscle memory to me so its hard to describe the timing im sorry

Have there been any rumours of a patch coming at some point to help with making things easier to spawn? ie-cats

Is anybody else not able to make a donation at the shrine at the Cats Paw? I cant help but wonder if the shrine was meant to be there to help with the various RNG spawns?

As well is there any point to the chest of coins you look at and then the Cats Paw Boss tells you to not touch them?

Has anybody gotten the cat meow at the construction site level and there is seemingly no way to get to it?

I can't use to donation box as well. I thought it was locked until you beat lvl 30. It would make sense to have the donation lead to a higher chance of yokai/cats/yellow.

im hoping that they fix it for you both with a patch that unlocks it retroactively. i do know that if you used quick resume its very possible thats why it didnt work. i never use that feature because im aware it could prevent an achievement or two from unlocking on a game

Solution should probably include the videos on the Yokai and the cats locations and the note about closing the game before the death animation finishes. Wish I had known about those before, saved me a lot of trouble cleaning up the last 7 cats I needed.

@Not MJC Yeah I hope so too. I never use quick resume either so I doubt it was that. @Jreeps Think we’re gonna have to wait on a patch, I tried dying, doing another 30 rounds to “finish” the mode again, deleted the save file in Xbox settings so that it re-synced with the cloud but nothing worked.

Rokurokubi: 10/11, 28/29
Kamaitachi: 19/20, 22/23
Oni: 13/14, 28/29

Umbrella Yokai TIPS:
I saw umbrella yokai on two floors.
If the desired floor did not appear, start over from the previous Nekomata floor.

1.Exorcism mission in Neon City (Floor 16 or 17)
└Black Kuchisake walks clockwise.
└Umbrella Yokai appear near the exit.
└Umbrella Yokai walks clockwise
2.Fusion with KK in Shibuya Kagerie (Floor 25 or 26)
└Forlorn appears on the first floor.
└Go up the escalator and you will find Forsaken.
└Take the elevator to the 8th floor. There's Crimson Kuchisake. When you go outside, there is KK.
└Umbrella Yokai appears near the top of the escalator leading to the rooftop shrine.
└Umbrella Yokai walks right forward.Don't be found by Black Kuchisake.

The videos for the cats are really important, as soon as you get the instant kill bracelet I would advise to start rolling for the missing cat levels at every checkpoint. If the first level is not good but quick to complete then finish it for a second chance. But the game rarely rolls two long levels between checkpoints so if the first roll is long it is pointless to complete it because it is very likely you will get a quick one without a cat for the second.

If your having trouble finding cats or yokai or yellow floor.

When you enter a floor and hear no cat or see no purple yokai icon open your menu and press Y and reset the floor repeat till get what you want.

For yellow floor to spawn get to floor 4 beat it in between sometimes you get unique floor with either yellow floor or spider thread before hitting floor 5.

If you beat floor 4 and you don't get yellow floor open menu press Y and repeat till you get it.

Also the beads that help with spirits souls and yokai can track cats after you clear all other collectibles in the floor.

Everyone seems to be just talking like the random objectives are the hardest, while I am honestly struggling to see how to get the 30 floors, no hit achievement.
The level 21 boss seems unfazed by the iron beads, and will generally be able to throw at least a series of wind shots before having the shield down.
from level 22, the number of enemies get crazy and honestly the iron beads seem more of a liability than a bonus as random flying or shooting enemies will throw their stuff at you while you will be plenty engaged with other, or in particular trying to get the location of invisible ones.
also, playing on the cloud (I have the old xbox) I can't get the "leave before dying animation" trick.
This is a game that I loved a lot but I don't get at all the difficulty progression in this modality. Once you understand the levels, you can breeze through up to level 18 without the iron beads. Then it gets crazy and it keeps getting worse while you are locked at level 55 without any further possibility to grow.

First thing first, there're things to remember:

1. All levels scenario are fixed. This includes all objectives, number and location of cash, food, enemies, yokais, cats... etc. That means if you found a level that contains the things you need, you are guaranted to get them.

2. All levels have a floor range associated with them. For example, an Eliminate 12 enemies level that take part in the highway (with 1 Kodoma on the rooftop) can only be encountered as floor 1-2.
That means if you know which level you're searching for, you can always reload the game to find the level you need.

3. You can re-roll a level after descending from Cats Paw simply by Pause => Return to Main Menu => Spider's Thread Mode => Continue

So, here goes the strategy to get this as fast as possible:
Note: Some jobs you'll eventually get during your playthrough (e.g: kills enemies x times). Some require grinding (e.g: unlock all skills) but it simple as it is, so I will not included it here. This guide focus on 2 main things: How clear level 30 (Views From the Abyss achievement) and those RNG involved jobs.

A. There're two main ways of clearing floor 30

It's okay when you die and restart because the enemies grow stronger, so you will need stronger equipments and skills. Replay again and again, complete all the side tasks including collect cash and food will net you more money for your skills next run. Collect Spirits and Yokai is a must because an yokai net you 5k money, Spirits net x10 amount you collected. It possible to clear floor 30 without any upgrade because of perfect block mechanic, but, well...

1. The Easy way, recommended for less skillful players/achievement hunters
There's an Iron Beads that unlock in cat shop when you level 50, this Beads allow you to 1 shot opponent, and they can 1 shot you, too. But who's the aggressive one here though. You can play at your own pace but the fastest way is to clear all the Optional Objectives in level 1-9, where enemies are not strong enough to be a challenge. Then die at 10 to restart from begining. Keep grinding like this until you reach level 50. Collect Spirit Threads along the way and besure to have at least 40 of them to purchase the Iron Beads. From there, you can get to floor 30 easily. Count it as fast, but I think about 10 hours is required.

2. The Legit way, recommended for those who really love the game
It depends on your style but personally I prefer stealth ninja mode with bows and sneak attack from behind and above. For skills and beads I maxed out Water for crown control, and to deal with annoying dancer; Fire for bosses, Archery of course for stealth attack (headshot is a must in higher levels).

B. For RNG involved jobs including yokai and cats

1. Yokai are re-collectable. That means you can collect them again in a level you've collected last run.
2. Cats are unique. They only appear in their unique level. Once you've rescued them, they'll never spawn again if you run into that level one more time.

3. For cats: There're 30 floors and 20 cats. You start at floor 1 and after every 2 floor, your multiple-of-3th floor will be an arena where you fought a horde of enemies or bosses. After that, you will be back at the Paw and every cats you saved will be count as rescued. If you die before reaching Cat's Paw, you will have to collect that cat again. There're 20 cats that speads throughout a run:

Floors 4/5: 3 cats (1 by tutorial)
Floors 7/8: 2 cats
Floors 10/11: 2 cats
Floors 13/14: 2 cats
Floors 16/17: 3 cats
Floors 19/20: 2 cats
Floors 22/23: 2 cats
Floors 25/26: 2 cats
Floors 28/29: 2 cats

When you go cats hunting, you can re-roll a level after Cat's Paw descending by return to main menu and continue your save file. If you hear a MEOW at the start of the level, clear them, save the cat (you can use Spirit Perception Beads lv3 to locate the cat if you cant find them using Sense) and then clear the the next two level to be back at the Paw again and that cat will be counted.

The only problem is if you "accidentally" saved a cat before but you dont remember which level, you are doomed (j/k). You can check this guide to know which level has a cat, and if you roll into these but you don't hear the meow, that means you've collected them (credit to joaocp1962 for this awesome work):

4. For yokais, encounter Kuchisake...
Yokai is easier because they're re-collectable. But the same as cats are, they're bound to their level and only appear in certain floor. The re-roll method also work. Now I do remember some yokai levels (e.g. Oni in Floors 13/14 at Absorb Spirit level, where you can buy food at the spawn location and feed the dog; Kamaitachi at Floors 19/20...), but it's not enough to put on a complete guide for this.

Enjoy your desperated achievement!

Thank for tutorial!
Just I have found last "yellow ether floor" and got achievement!
I found yellow ether floor twice on floor 13. Maybe in other floor u can find too!

So a little guide who trying to find yellow ether floor:
1 In Yellow Ether Floors you spawn on a plattform with yellow ether around it and you have a timer during which you need to shoot down as many as you can
2 When get to lvl 13 just re-roll a level after descending from Cats Paw simply by Pause => Return to Main Menu => Spider's Thread Mode => Continue until you spawn In Yellow Ether Floors. I reloaded level 10-15 times

@HnS I top I I don't believe that the yellow ether floor spawns right after a re-roll. They spawn between two floors

It's about a month already so I don't remember all kuchisakes I found. But I do remember one in floor 25-26 where you spawn in the mall and goal is to reconnect with KK. After you go upstair using escalator, then elevator, and bypass/kill the red one guarding 3 Threads, you will find KK outside; but instead of finish the level you should go upstair again using the outdoor escalator (to the top of the building) you will find an umbrella-yokai (sorry forgot the name) at the top of the second escalator. There's a kuchisake roaming around the shire. Better hit her with a bow then quickly go back and jump to the portal. It will counts.

Thank you, you definitely helped me. I would like to add the fact that if you die, you can pause during death animation, quit the game and restart it. You'll restart from last cats paw, making the no damage run much easier

Found this video helpful for my last 2 cats. 1 I knew what floors, the other I didn't. After so many re-rolls I found the video and exactly where it was. Somehow, 1 was on a map I've never seen before after rerunning all 30 several times. I hate this mode so much.

Good comments in all the guides. The grind to level 50 wasn't as long as I thought, and if you tackle this after you complete the main game, you should have a good idea on which skills to prioritize spending your $ on to assist. Similarly use spider thread early on bead sets that fit with your play style, and don't worry about saving up to 40 for Iron Beads until you are over level 40ish. By that time thread comes fairly consistently and it won't take too long to buy those beads.

After you get the Iron beads, everything changes and it becomes a speed run game. First do 1 clean run to floor 30 and don't panic about re-rolling for cats/yokai. Once you get that under your belt, then you can do tidy up.

Don't panic about getting $ for the last skills you need. I spent too long cleaning out levels with Iron Beads for $ after first getting them. You will rack up lots of $ during the last search for cats/yokai so just focus on speed. When re-rolling into a room, some rooms can be done in seconds (question rooms in particular) that it can be just as well to complete them and try your luck on the 2nd room, rather than hitting Y to reset. That way if you find what you need on room 2 of 3, you're closer to the cats paw again.

Use TheDevilzHand list above to know where to search for specific yokai (it's not complete, I am sure I found an odd yokai in other levels than he noted). Use the Youtube video linked in the other guide for the cats. Took a couple of run throughs with lots of re-rolls to finish the cats.

The last thing I needed was yellow ether room - finished everything else with only 3 of 5. Got the last one doing the level 13/14 re-roll option.

Also the infernal visitor appears on the same levels as the Karakasa-Koso, so those are re-rollable to check that task off.

THIS IS A GUIDE FOR THE 5 YELLOW ETHER ROOMS!! The other guides perfectly sum up what you will need to do for the other parts of the nekomata jobs.

Yellow ether rooms are rooms that spawn IN BETWEEN floors, and are not full floors themselves. Like the rooms that are just food or just have the three guys in them, they will not (as far as I know) spawn right out of the cats paw. For example, if you were to get a yellow ether room on floor 13, it would happen after you cleared the actual floor 13 and descended to floor 14, not on your initial descent to floor 13.

Despite this, the strategy for farming yellow ether rooms is much the same as the reroll strategy for yokai and lost cats.

1. The first thing to note is that you should stay between floors 1-30. There is no benefit to going over, and many hunters have noted that the probability of spawning both yellow ether rooms and cats is much higher in the first 30 floors.

2. Another hunter stated that floor 13 is a good place to farm for the rooms, and I agree. For whatever reason, it seems to have a higher spawn chance than other floors. The strategy is to get to the cats paw after floor 12, then run through floor 13 as fast as possible. Then, if you descend to floor 14 and there’s no ether room, quit to the main menu and continue from the cats paw. You can then reclear floor 13 and keep trying for ether rooms.

Good luck!

My guide would be to firstly just focus on getting rank 50. Play the levels out and try to complete all optional objectives along the way. Don’t stress about making it to 30 floors immediately, it’s ok to die and repeat. During your ranking up dismantle your beads and collect all spider threads on the levels that have them. Also buy skills every 3 levels while in the Cat Den

Once you hit 50 I suggest buying the 1 Shot beads and Low Gravity. The third slot i always used spirit beads to locate yoki. Now it’s time to work on objectives.

So as you begin again as level 50 from floor 1-30 you will get through it with easy. And complete many objectives as well. If you die quit the game before the death animation completes. If you get a floor with corruption on the ground, take off your one shot bead and progress onward, touching corruption with One shot will result in death.

Pay attention to your side Heads up Display on the floor contents. Always collect Yoki indicated as purple swirls and go for as much cash crates as possible. Cats will not be indicated on the HUD but they will however identify themselves on whatever level they spawn on by a large meeeow at the start so make sure you play with sound on.

Finally I always used charged fire shots on groups of enemies whilst using 1 shot beads. And wind standard shots for solo enemies. You will come across some levels where a Infernul scissor chick will roam, she is unkillable so don’t even mess with her.

By following these tips you should get over 70 challenges complete, the remainder are just having to grind out due to rng

Many people write that the last cat or magatama was found in room 68 or 85 for example, but I did it completely differently, I didn’t go above room 30, in general the principle is this: in the game there are 30 main rooms that are divided into let’s say blocks, that is, 1 room, 2nd room and boss, 4th, 5th and boss and so on, in each block there are about 10 randomly respawned rooms, I went through, say, the first room and just went to the menu and loaded the first room again and thereby reloaded the room to a new one, took a cat or magatama and then finished the block by killing the boss so that the cat would appear in your main rest room, in this way I searched all the blocks and found all the cats and magatama and ethers, etc., etc., I didn’t go above level 30 and there’s no point in it, and so on moment, let’s say you went through the first room and from the second you started to go to the menu, then you will start again from the first to enter the next one. the block needs to kill the boss, the room numbers from which I left and started respawning are 1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25,28, only in these rooms you need to go to the menu and reload the lock

Video guide (en) with the habitats of all cats. As already mentioned above, it is easier to find cats and objects from the 1st to the 30th floor.

This is the most effective tactic. I'll add a couple of points
Play with sound ONLY. Before the start of the arena, if you hear meowing, then there is a cat in the arena. Don't leave without it. Once you catch him, you can skip everything to the boss and move on. That is, in one iteration (room-room-boss) there can only be one cat.
After room 30 we die and start over.
Cats sometimes sit in the most unobvious places, so search until the end. Cats do not always sit on the first floors, sometimes on the roofs.
Video guide (en).
Cats are not that hard to find, believe me. I started looking for them from the 15th hour of playing DLC), and quickly found 16 using this tactic.

Approximate route plan:

- At first, focus on raising levels, clearing sectors with an S rating, and leveling up your ghost detection beads to level 3 (at level 3 they also start detecting stray cats, and getting to the level with a cat is brutally random). For the cat collection to count, you must successfully complete the sector and return to the nekomata shop!

- Next, save up threads until you reach level 50 and take the Iron Rosary - you and any opponents EXCEPT the monstrous kuchisake and orphans die in one hit. The rosary can be changed at any time, even if you are noticed, so use it carefully. In case of death, you can always close the game through the PS button - Options - Close game. In this case, you will be thrown back to the beginning of the sector.

- Pray that you get levels with cats and youkai more often.

- Pray twice as hard, because the chance of getting a bonus level with yellow ether is incredibly small - in 15 hours I only came across 2 of them (5 are needed).

The list contains the item “find the monstrous kuchisage (woman with scissors)” 5 times in total. I was guaranteed to find her on the 16-17th floor and on the 25/26th. You need to see her stupidly for Akito or KK to give their comment. You can combine this with the capture of a caracas-cozo.
To farm money, it is better to go beyond the 30th floor than to stomp from 1 to 30. They give you many times more money.
