The fastest way to obtain this is to donate 5000 Meika whenever the option is available.
5000 Meika donations will give you a major chance increase to encounter a Hyakki Yako (The Demon Parade), which is a slightly more challenging combat encounter that awards Spirits after completion. Note that this will only be available when you still need to obtain spirits from these encounters.
Just two of these will set you to 10K in offerings. If the option is not available, use 500 Meika options. Once you cleanse several Torii Gates, you can set up a fast travel chain and donate 500 at each offering box near Torii Gates that have them.

Just to add, in the prayer box that has 5,000 offering, you can reload your save and then do another 5,000 to get the achievement. No need to find two separate prayer boxes.

Several of the shrines around the game will have offering boxes, at which you can spend either 100 or 500 meika to make a wish. It is recommended that you always choose the 500 meika option, as this allows you to wish for help finding Tanuki and Jizo Statues, which will mark one of that respective collectible on the map for the region you’re in. Do this at all the offering boxes around the map and you will eventually hit 10,000 spent. If you want to grind this, simply save in front of an offering box, pay 500 meika, and load to repeat it.

At some of the game's larger shrines - situated at certain torii gates - you'll find wooden prayer boxes where you can throw in either 100 or 500 meika in exchange for a wish. These include revealing the location of certain collectibles, or granting health and SP. Chuck in 500 meika each time you visit an offering box, and you'll eventually unlock this.
