How to unlock the Rummy Buff achievement in Gin Rummy - Definitive Guide
This achievement can be boosted online with a friend in a player/private match. Select classic gin with default scoring settings.
To ensure the match will end in exactly two hands, work together to make sure the losing player has 75 points of deadwood in his hand before the winning player goes gin. The winning player will get the 75 points of deadwood + a 25 point bonus for going gin which ends the 100 point game in one hand. With all the end of game bonuses you will have about 470 points, needing 500 to win the match. Play the second hand the same way and you'll end the match with an average of 950 points.
I'd estimate it takes about 5 minutes on average for each match. So in an hour both players can earn approximately 6000 points.
Just completing the single player achievements will net you about 10k leaving the rest to boost. Use the above method while working on your 25 player match wins.
If you're unsure what deadwood is, it means cards that aren't in a set or a run. An example of a set would be: three kings, a run would be 7,8,9 of hearts. Deadwood would be two kings, and 7,8 of hearts. Just be careful and make sure the deadwood totals 75 points to maximize boosting efficiency. Face cards are worth 10 points.

Let me know what you find... if you find some quicker ways to earn points I'll definitely add them to this solution.

You'll get a lot of points going for the "Rummy Master" achievement, so just build on that, and remember that any points accumulated count, be it single player or online. You have to finish a match completely for the points to count, but it doesn't matter whether you win or lose.
To see your current total, from the main menu go to Help & Options -> Player Statistics.
The easiest way to rack up points is by boosting online. With a buddy, if you play Classic Gin, and one player scores no points at all, then the other will get a bonus in excess of 300 points from quite minimal work. Also, you can help each other get gin bonuses and the like pretty quickly.

To see your point total, go to Help & Options > Player Statistics. It'll be the last one listed. After playing 57 games and not boosting, I only had 13k points. If I unlock this, I put my stats up to show what you should expect to get if not using the boosting method.
Edit:
Years later, I finally did it.
Games Won: 107
Games Played: 176
Rounds Won Going Gin: 368
Rounds Won by Undercut: 198
Total Points: 50076
From 13k until 49,900 I did classic mode, then ended with a Speed Gin.
