How to unlock the The Journey Begins achievement in God of War - Definitive Guide

I don't want to include any spoilers so I'll describe this in a general sense...

You will progress to a part of the story wherein you and Atreus return home, only to find 'The Stranger' eventually... which after a cinematic you will fight 'The Stranger'.

Defeat him and the achievement will unlock!

When Kratos and Atrus returns home there's a stranger named baulder and you have to fight home and mostly kill him to unlock this

Story related and cannot be missed. Someone special will visit you and your boy. Take whatever steps necessary to protect him.
