How to unlock the Protector of Mizuho achievement in God Wars: Future Past - Definitive Guide
Shrine requests are basically side quests that allow you to revisit stages you have already cleared. This is useful for grinding and collecting any wicker boxes and hidden treasures you may have missed. The shrine will be introduced to you after your first few story battles, and new shrines will show up regularly throughout the game. When you re-visit certain areas on the map throughout the story, nearby shrines will sometimes add new requests even if you had already cleared all the available requests before. Here is a list of every shrine location and the number of requests you will need to clear at each of them:
Kagamihara - 7
Ooe Mountain - 12
Yoshida - 15
Saga - 8
Amakusa - 9
Ryugu - 8
Usa - 8
Fushimi - 7
Oni Castle - 8
Ise - 6
Because requests rarely feature strong boss enemies, they are generally about as difficult as or easier than the original battles fought on each map. Should you have any trouble with these battles, keep the following general tips in mind:
- Celestials have some of the strongest magic in the game. Guest Star can hit the entire map and can be used every turn provided you manage MP properly. If you choose to spam Guest Star, watch out for enemies who dodge/reflect magic and who do not take damage from Earth element. S-Polaris Thunder requires 3 Secret Skill Gauges, but hits the entire map with stronger Ki element magic. Some requests can be cleared before the enemies reach your team, and in the rest of the requests, Celestials can annihilate any enemies who make it through. At low levels, this role will be taken by Magicians and Spiritualists.
- Maidens are great support. They have decently-sized area buffs for offense and defense as well as MP healing. If you choose to rely on a group of Celestials, the MP healing Divine Sake Dance can keep the Guest Star hits coming. If you equip God Dance Spell as a Passive Skill, your Maidens will usually be immune to magic. At low levels, this role will be taken by Priests and Shintoists.
- Herculeans and Champions do a good job of protecting the back lines. Herculeans are better as pure tanks as they take less damage per hit, boast higher health, learn a Passive Skill that enables ZOC, and can revive downed allies. Champions are better at evading attacks and controlling Impurity, but the main benefit is their huge damage at the expense of less durability. At low levels, this role will be taken by Warriors and Samurai.
- Equipping a Sub job can expand any character’s utility, especially if it has good synergy with their Main job. For example, a Herculean will not benefit much from having a Warrior Sub job, but perhaps having access to Incantor skills would allow for a strategy in which the Herculean tanks its way up to enemies and makes them more susceptible to Celestials and other damage dealers. Because front row jobs require high ATK to function well, they generally benefit most from being Main jobs, while jobs with healing, buffing, and other stat-independent Skills generally work just as well as Sub jobs. Similarly, do not forget that you can equip Passive Skills even from jobs that are not in use.
- If you are still having trouble at any point, make sure you have your best equipment equipped, skills leveled appropriately, shrine buffs activated, and are playing on easy difficulty. Should you need stronger characters to win any specific battles, see Skill Master and Combat Master for tips on farming JP and EXP.
