How to unlock the Herald achievement in Godstrike - Definitive Guide

This boss is associated with the two different story endings. If you backup your save file via the PS Cloud or a USB drive before you start this fight, you can get both endings without having to replay the entire story. If you don't have anyway of backing up your save, do keep in mind that two playthroughs will be required for those endings.
Garodal is the 10th and final boss you'll go up against and will start with a time of 6:10. When you defeat Cindael for Warmonger , you'll unlock the Phantom Slash and Void abilities. You might need to play around with the active abilities to find a set that works for you but I do recommend using the trusty standard of Arcane Shield, Overload, Future Rhythm and True Aim. For the passives, you can choose whichever you wish but the recommended layout is Spiked Boy, Rapid Fire, Sand of Time and Void. Garodal has two separate endings (see Doomed and Freedom ). It doesn't matter which one you get first as you'll need to play through the story again to get the other. This boss has 4 phases:
Phase 1: While this phase may feel a bit overwhelming in the bullet hell sense, it's actually not that bad since for most of his attacks, you can just stand in a safe spot until he's done. The only exceptions are a 3-part laser attack and when he rains down the lasers from above (just avoid the pink circles on the ground to dodge these). Just keep firing on him and using your Overload and True Aim abilities as they become available and he'll go down pretty quick.
Phase 2: Garodal will gain two swords that he'll use to smash the ground and send projectiles in your direction. When he flies up, he's about to smash the ground so just stand back. If he tosses his swords away, he's going to teleport to you and try to catch them after they hit you. Just step to the side and away from him to dodge those. Everything else will be the same as Phase 1. Find your safe spot and just hammer on him.
Phase 3: The 3rd phase is where the trigger point for the two endings will happen. You'll be transported into a sort of "dream" sequence and will need to attack the boss (which is a shadow of yourself) as they float around the room counter-clockwise. They'll still be raining attacks down on you so make good use of your shield here. If you complete this phase before he makes it to 3/4 the way around, you'll get the Freedom ending. If you complete this phase after he makes it to 3/4 the way around (Garodal's emblem will flash on the screen at this point), you'll get the Doom ending.
Phase 4: The 4th and final phase is a bit rough. You're really going to want to make use of everything you have in your arsenal during this fight. The main attack that gave the most trouble was a dual spinning disc attack that he does. Two large discs will fly around the area while he shoots a laser beam from his head. After a few seconds, the discs will come flying back to him. The room for error is so small on this part and if he hits you with his laser beam, it can be a bit troublesome to get out of it so just try and stay as aware as possible. The only other attack that gave some issue is when he bounces around the room 4 times and unleashes waves of projectiles. Where he's going to go varies and so where you might think he's going to jump forward, he ends up behind you and it just makes dodging more tricky. It's between these two main ones that you want to use your active abilities as often as you can to burn him down as quickly as possible.
Once you've defeated him, the trophy will unlock. If you need a visual reference for this fight, please see the video provided under Guardian . This fight starts at 29:27.
If you got the Doom ending in this fight, Doomed will also unlock. If you got the Freedom ending, Freedom will unlock.
