How to unlock the Who's Counting? achievement in GoldenEye 007 - Definitive Guide

This achievement requires completing the Control level on Secret Agent difficulty in less than 10:00.

This level is long. Really long. 10 minutes is lenient, though, as you shouldn't have an issue finishing in about eight minutes. Here's my video guide with commentary:

Perhaps youd prefer a detailed written guide? Here you go:

You'll start in an elevator with Natalya. Open the door and peek out to shoot a drone gun to the left (next to some colored wires on the wall). Carefully destroy it, then step out and shoot a guard around the left corner, then two more guards will come from the right. Don't go too far ahead as there is another drone gun down the hall that you want to move left just enough to see. If you peek out too far it will see you and start shooting, making it harder to destroy without taking damage. Once it has been dealt with, slowly circle around the wall on th right and look up to see a third drone gun. Destroy it, then look in the open area below it to find two guards. A third is around the corner to the left. Once they have been killed, go back and get Natalya from the elevator and she will run to a control panel and eventually say that she got a door open. From this doorway, shoot the two guards all the way down at the end of the hall, then move forward somewhat slowly. There is a room on the right with four guards that are waiting to shoot you if you move out too far. They also like to throw grenades, so be careful as one may blow you up if you aren't careful. After you carefully peek around the corner and kill them, move into the room straight ahead for some ammo and a box of Remote Mines.

Go through the other room where the four guards were and slowly look right into a hall to kill a guard. Two more from the next room will likely come to investigate to be prepared to kill them. Kill the other guards in this room, then go up the stairs and open the door to find four more guards in the next room. Once they are dead you can go through the next door into the main area of the level. Just ahead you will find Boris who tries to pull a gun on you, then runs away. There are two mainframes near where he was working that you want to throw a remote mine onto. Then go up the nearby stairs and kill the two guards on this level- one to the left of the stairs and one to the right. There are two mainframes on this level, one on either side. Throw a remote mine onto each, then take the stairs up to the third floor. Go the the left side and through a small grate into a room with a body armor (which is there on all difficulties), then take the original stairs back down to the first floor.

Look left to see a door and approach it. Inside is a room with a few guards, two drone guns in the distance, and a drone gun to either side of the door. Open the door and move to the left, peeking out to get an angle on the drone gun on the right side so you can destroy it. The guards should then charge you at the door and once they are dead, inch further right to get an angle on the drone gun on the left side and destroy it. Then sprint straight into the room- the drone guns on either side will shoot and may hit you (less likely if you d-pad strafe in), but just run straight into the room to get out of their range. Throw a remote mine on a mainframe on the right side, then inch forward on the right side of the room to get an angle on the drone gun on the left, destroy it, then do the same from the other side to destroy the drone gun on the right.

This brings us to the long/annoying part of the level. Take the stairs back up to the second floor and go right towards the mainframe (which you should have previously put a remote mine on). Open the nearby door, then open the next door to find Natalya who will head into the large central area to start some computer hacking. She will need to whack away at the computer for what feels like an eternity while you protect her from guards that come initially from the stairs on either side of the room and eventually through the glass panes on the lower left and/or lower right, which they destroy with explosives (all the black glass is bulletproof).

Once she gets into position, I like to take up guard directly behind her where I constantly shift my focus back and forth to the stairs, ready to kill any guards who try to come down and cause problems. As she hacks away and you fight off an endless stream of guards, watch out for the glass to get broken on the lower level next to the stairs, creating an additional entrance point for guards that you need to constantly monitor. All it takes is one guard to get a few seconds where he can fire on Natalya and kill her to fail the mission.

Natalya will eventually announce that the Satellite's orbit is decaying, completing objective B. She will then run away to safety- I like to continue protecting her until she starts moving before leaving this area myself.

You now need to go into the lower level room to the left of the room that had four drone guns and a mainframe. The easiest way to get there is through the broken out glass on the left side of the large screen, but in the unlikely event that this glass was never broken, you'd need to go up the stairs on either side, then down the central stairs and turn left. Kill the two guards inside this room, throw a remote mine on the glass, then stand back and detonate with the watch detonator to complete objective C. In the unlikely event that the objective doesn't complete, one of the mainframes was not destroyed and you would have to check each individually, which is not only a huge hassle but also potentially too time consuming if you're on the Secret Agent speedrun.

Exit this room the way you entered, turn right, go past the stairs, and open the next door on the right. There are a handful of guards in this room that you'll need to kill, all the while with potential for guards to come from behind you. Fight through the door straight ahead, go through to the next room, then get into the door on the left hand wall to exit the level.

Strategy worked a charm. First time I made it as far as the Control room I got through the rest of the level. Just have to channel your inner grandfather clock and swing from side to side. Generally when enemies spawn on one side they won’t spawn on another until you’ve cleared them.

Great guide! I highly recommend letting Natalya in before you go plant the other two remote mines, and grab the body armor. You have plenty of time while she walks in and starts hacking before enemies come.

After completing the hacking part it's still possible to fail the Protect Nat objective if you're too quick getting to the exit elevator. Wait for the "Objective A completed" to pop up.

Also, I recommend clearing the drone turret room before doing the hacking with Nat.

I feel like I had issues with this when I was a kid too... MOST playthroughs when I survive on 00Agent at least 1 mine I put on the mainframes doesn't destroy it @_@

Most of my flashbacks from this level is Natalya dying, like she dies on most levels.

My favourite level is Bunker 2, because you can leave her in jail until you've murdered every single guard

I had trouble with the second drone gun, but there is a safe spot to shoot it, by sticking to the first wall on the left when exiting the elevator, go forward to the corner and a tiny bit of wall will protect you.

I personally find it much easier to manage the enemies staying on the 2nd floor by the balcony overwatching the room while she's hacking but focusing on the main stairs as most of the enemies spawn on the 3rd floor.

Infinite Ammo Cheat
Mission: Control
Difficulty: Secret Agent
Target Time: 10:00

Who's Counting? on Control requires a good balance of everything. Staying alive, keeping ammo stocked and of course keeping Natalya alive in that main room! For details on the best place to camp, check out my video guide below. I unlocked the cheat with a time of 07:06. So time isn't an issue!

a. Protect Natalya (Agent)
b. Disable GoldenEye Satellite (Agent)
c. Destroy the Armored Mainframes (Agent)

00:00 - Agent
07:25 - Secret Agent & Who's Counting? Achievement
15:10 - 00 Agent

The time here is actually hugely lenient, with it being completely reasonable to complete this mission in 8-9 minutes. This mission is mainly about clearing the first area of turrets and enemies quickly, and then making sure Natalya doesn't die while she's hacking. The rest of the mission is very easy to do with only minimal practice. Watch the video and it shouldn't be too difficult to replicate. I found the Natalya hacking part to be best done as shown: stand against the big monitor wall and aim right at the stairs coming from the top floor. Shoot continually to make it very unlikely for enemies to get down and through. If they do, focus on them immediately. Also, I cranked up the volume so I would hear glass shattered. This is because the enemies that come down the steps on both sides will typically shoot at you, but if you hear glass shatter, it's usually off to your right, and the enemy will shoot directly at Natalya and kill her pretty much instantly. If you hear glass shatter, immediately turn right to shoot that enemy. Unfortunately, you're now going to need to watch that right side like a hawk the remainder of the time because you'll have no warning if an enemy is coming there to shoot her.

Thankfully, as soon as the objective completes, you can completely ignore Natalya the rest of the mission. Get to the last mainframe, blow them all up, and then ignore enemies in the last room and beeline right for the elevator to exit.
