During the course of the game, you will meet three NPC "factions".
The factions that count can easily be recognized by the persons marked with the little "head+questionmark" icon who offer/ask you to do some simple fetch quests.
These are (not sure how they are called in english, i'm sadly stuck with the very confusing machine-translated german version):
1. The foxes
2. The blue, horned "demons"
3. The robots / constructs
(There are, in fact, some additional minor factions, but those do not count.)
You can see your current reputation with the factions in the journal tab of the menu, at the bottom of the window. Max reputation per faction is 1100.
All you need to do is stack up on as much trivial crafting resources as you can, then repeatedly ask for a fetch quest and complete it immediately until the faction reputation is maxed.
If they NPC asks for something you don't have with you, just decline and ask again.

This is a somewhat story related achievement. The game requires you to be at 1000 points for each faction before progressing further towards the end of the game.

Well, max is 1100, story requires 1000 for 2 factions, as far as i could see (or read online).
So maxing out all three to 1100 itself should not be story related.
