Can confirm that you can no longer pause the game (tried on Windows) to stop the clock. It might still work on console, though. So definitely best to do the speed run achievement on a 2nd play through so you know what you are doing.

I played on console pausing the game to look the guide and it popped. A method to look if you're than 30 minutes or not is looking on statz in the game's achievements. with this you can look how many clicks you did. for thoses who dont know where it is: My profile - Games - Gorogoa - Statz. My console is a xbox one s

I can confirm that on the Xbox Series X the pause method still works. I had the game paused numerous times and even took the time to eat supper. Cheevo popped.

It must only pause on console but not PC. I'll give Console version a go.

Thanks guys, at first I tried to unsuccessfully delete my old save to be sure but starting a new game was enough on Series X.

Did it in under 30 on console with the pause and it did not pop.

I don't know how but I manage to get all the achievements on my first playthrough. I did it on console and I did pause it, however I am positive that I made more than 500 moves.

I’m trying a complete reset, delete all saves and fresh install tomorrow.

On series x. Tried everything now. Deleting all saves, cache reset and fresh install. Made it under 30min even without the pause trick. Not popping. This is glitched.

Damn, that really sucks @funkyTii! I will give it another go today or tomorrow to see if it will unlock or not. Anybody else having issues with this unlocking? I'm tempted to install it on my Xbox One and see if that will unlock it...

Today, i finish the game and no one achievements pop. What's going on? Everything is glitched? Problem with servers?

I deleted my saves everywhere but had to pause because my memory isn't the best and still no unlock. Looks like you can't pause at all. On the stats page for the game there are two boxes for time played.

The top left corner, labelled "Times played" (lowercase P) 4h 17m
The bottom right corner, labelled "Times Played" (uppercase P) is listed as 10741781:31:36:00 which is an increase from the stats I posted on Jan7th

For those who have gotten the achievement (pause or no pause) do you have the weird Times Played stat?

I had the weird stat yeah - noticed it before my last run that got me But Why?

Not sure if it was the not pausing or if I just took a bit longer than I thought, but I did the full save deletion then started a stopwatch on my iPhone from as soon as I booted the game up fresh and it was almost exactly 25 minutes. That was me doing everything pretty much perfectly first time so you don't have much time to sit around.

Was the top left corner "Time played" stat reset after you deleted everywhere? I kinda think I may be able to pull off the speed run without pausing. There are a few parts that always mess me up when using Maka's guide.

I would hate to waste more time trying it but then the completionist in me is not happy looking at 950/1000, lol.

Part of me wants to say screw it and wait for it to hopefully be fixed.

Nah that stayed - think that’s tracked at account level rather than anything in save files.

I played Maka’s video at 0.75 speed which I found helped a little as he’s going pretty fast at points.

Okay, i deleted both saves again and deleted the game. Played it from the cloud without pausing and it popped. I timed it at 27min.

OK just got , took me an hour with pausing for the guide and a work call so you can definitely pause it.

I just think the issue is doing this game in one run. So I'd say for people trying plan for two runs, deleting the save after the first run getting after everything else as advised above. I didn't do a whole lot different from last night, in fact I'd say I took longer with the call I got from work.

What's the supposed pause button? is it hitting the dashboard or is it just escaping to the options menu?

I am glad to see you got it with pausing Calex dEUS! I will delete my save from everywhere and give it another go with pausing.

EDIT-Just tried another run (after deleting saves from everywhere), check on the stats screen my time played which was 5H 14M, just beat the game, no achievement and my time played is now 5H 15M so there is something glitched somewhere. I should note that I recorded my number of moves and that number increased from 5600 to 6080

EDIT (1/12/21)-It just unlocked!!! I paused less than I did in previous attempts as the muscle memory for stuff was there. It also seemed like the time played box in the top left corner was finally updating properly which may be why it unlocked. Glad this is over with :D

Well, that's glitched. Yay. Apparently my time played is 1193046:28:17. JFC I just installed this game.
Update: still bugged beyond belief. I tried cloud gaming as some suggested, to no avail. I'm currently clocked in it over 4 million hours on this game. How difficult is it to properly implement a timer in Unity FFS?

Ignore that timer @Misterldjit, it's like that for all of us, pay attention to the other time played box :)

I can confirm pausing on console still works. Ate some lunch during the middle of my speedrun.

Pausing on Xbox Series X works just fine. Was able to follow the video above (thanks again, Maka) and get both Dexterity and But Why? in one go.

This is still working on xbox series x finished it today, also i can confirm that you can do it in multiple sessions(i did it in 2 sessions).
also something i noticed that the moves count on the xbox states is not accurate, i am sure about that. maybe it counts the times you pause and unpause? the moves number will increase in the states but it will not count towards the 500 moves,

I was a bit worried this hadn't popped on my first attempt but it did, I simply didn't get the popup for it because I also unlocked the ending and 500 moves achievements too so it only showed those. What a relief when I checked my unlocks lol.

This did not unlock while I was following any video. This currently is the only achievement I don't have for this game. I have done it three times and I am starting to believe that passing it does not stop the timer.

I played the game on XCloud and it unlocked for me fine (despite me restarting several times); it may be worth a shot if people want to give this another crack before it leaves Gamepass.

I had done my first play through blind and just to enjoy the game myself. I used the chapter select to them do the rock puzzle achievement. Then I played the demo for that achievement. I was sure to close the game fully, then restart. I used the Maka video and used pauses to finish the game in under 30 min and 500 moves. Both achievements unlocked. I did not have to use Xcloud or erase my cloud saves.

Ugh. Me and speedruns do not mix well. I’m gonna keep trying but idk if I’ll get this one done in time.

Also followed the Maka video, pausing occasionally (once for about 45 mins while i made lunch) and still got the achievement. The pausing technique definitely still works for all those who have left this to the last minute, like me. Pretty unique game.

Does it works if you are cloud gaming?

Pause trick didn't work for me. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and got it first try.

Same as @TurbidPillow365.
First: 1 run for every other achievement.
Second: Uninstall the game
Third: Another run after reinstalling it(allowed to pause, no need to play the demo or deleting the savestates(local/cloud), managed with a Series X)

Perfect guide

Didn't manage to get this achievement when doing the walkthrough (although it's a good walkthrough!). Just replayed the game with the above video on my 2nd screen, and the achievement popped on the first try :)

Same as me @funkyTii, just did it using the Maka video. The Dexterity achievement popped, But Why? did not. I'm curious if it may be a delayed popping achievement?

EDIT-I should add that I am on Series X and I checked my stats and Time Played is coming up at 9548735:03:19:00

I am curious if I need to delete, reinstall than go for it again?

For those struggling with Dexterity / Why Me? I got them on additional playthroughs after deleting my save from both the console and cloud and then starting fresh. I got Dexterity first and missed out on Why Me? when I was confident i'd managed under 30, but I deleted my save fully again and timed it out on a 3rd and did it in 25 min and got Why Me? I didn't pause at all on this one.

To delete from the cloud as well as locally:

Manage Game, then down to Saved Data.
Don't press Delete All, highlight your profile then press the Start button (three lines) and then Delete Saved Data.
In here, select Delete Everywhere.

That should be you starting totally fresh and good to go.

Deleting my save data from both local & cloud fixed the achievement (my first playthrough I did blind). I also didn't use pause on my post-deletion run just in case.

Why wouldn‘t it work with cloud gaming, it is just an Xbox version that is running remotely.

I just did this and the 500 moves one on a Series X and I paused about 1.000 times while I had the Maka video running at 0.5 speed - it worked and both achievements unlocked.

Be careful about the skipping part if you already have the wrong time achievement as you still need to move the red needle, so this still needs to be done, you can‘t skip over everything.
