How to unlock the Jeff Gordon NASCAR School achievement in Gran Turismo 5 - Definitive Guide

It’s easy to win the NASCAR school with Jeff Gordon if you know a few simple tricks:

1 - disable all assistants, abs, asm, etc. We don’t touch the traction control, as it was 5, let it remain so. Driving settings will have to be changed with each new race. (This also applies to NASCAR races at an extreme level)

2 - the most difficult second part with cones. The main thing here is to drive as close to the inside as possible, while at Daytona there should be no slipping. If the gamepad starts to vibrate, it means you are losing speed.

For getting bronze at the NASCAR school you get a ticket for a classic American supercar, for silver for a modern American supercar, for going for gold - a NASCAR car, but not for Jeff Gordon, but for some other driver.

I would like to add that for a more convenient passage it is best to set the maximum sensitivity of the gamepad in the race settings.

that's right. With only traction control 5, I couldn’t even get close to bronze. When I set the traction control to max (10), I immediately took silver 13.219, but for gold I needed 13.200.

In principle, all tests other than the 10th are not difficult to pass, but the last test is a bit difficult.

To get through it, I advise you to do this:

1) Set ABS to 10

2) Active steering to maximum

3) Controller sensitivity to maximum

The first time I arrived 6th, and then first.

Apparently they give you a car randomly for gold, because... They gave me just Jeff Gordon's NASCAR Impala. For that I thank Mr. Random. The first two difficulty levels are very easy... The last three routes took about an hour and a half. The main thing is to catch and not let go of the rocket in front of you that accelerates you (drafting). At first there were problems with the pit stop... for a long time I could not go higher than 5th place, then the problem began with the last track (Daytona)... because... it runs without any brakes at all (unlike Indianapolis). Literally milliseconds of separation decide everything.

After introducing all the restrictions, winning gold in the last advanced Daytona turned into an extremely difficult task.

The recipe for victory is simple, but extremely difficult to implement. After the start, you need to hang on the tail of the penultimate car (another Chevrolet) and by the middle of the second lap (the penultimate turn), it will take you into the leading group in fifth place. If you didn’t manage to reach fifth place in this turn, you can safely press restart.

Then the roulette begins.
The first four on the straight should stop moving like a train, thus losing speed and allowing you to catch up with them.

In the penultimate turn, you must get ahead of all the cars without colliding, or collide without being disqualified (another super-random element).

The last segment needs to be on the defensive, confidently putting your butt up so that you don’t turn around and overtake (another random thing).

Below is a video walkthrough of the stage:
